Carrie has such a strong pattern, now, of doing collaborations between albums. To end "Carnival Ride" she released ITYS with Randy Travis. After "Play On" she did "Remind Me" with Brad. After "Blown Away" she did "Somethin' Bad" with Miranda. Now, to end "Storyteller", she's releasing TF with Keith!

It'll happen at some point. Not sure when, but I'm sure she'll be smart enough to have it coincide with something else that's big, which is generally par for the course with Halftime shows. Album launches, tour announcements, etc. Should she release a (non-Christmas) record by the end of this year, I could see it happening. That'd be a pretty quick touring turnaround for her, though.
We shall see, but she's set herself up well enough that she will absolutely be asked to do it sooner rather than later. I'd be willing to bet within the next 2-4 years, even.

She's in her vocal and physical prime now. I think 2018 would be ideal...
Drop a surprise album the Friday before, kill the performance, get that massive first week's sales number, and announce a world tour featuring her first set of stadium shows. Can I just be her manager, please?!

I really don't think she'll ever do SuperBowl Halftime. Maybe another Star Spangled Banner performance.
I think Carrie fans, myself included, inflate Carrie's popularity. She'll go down as a country music legend, no doubt. But, is she on the same pop culture and global popularity level as Beyonce, Gaga, Katy Perry, Bruno? I'm not so sure.
I'd imagine another legendary rock group, Taylor, Rihanna, and even Adele (though she's said 'no' before) would be in the next couple years.

I think Carrie would be an incredible choice for the half-time show for several reasons, and not just because I'm a fan.
1. She already has ties to the NFL with the Sunday night song, so everyone who watches the NFL will at least recognize her face and voice 2. Although she doesn't go for crossover radio success, she still has a large presence outside of Country music. Nearly everyone knows who Carrie Underwood is and knows a couple of her songs. 3. She puts on a hell of a show and would be able to make it entertaining as well as kill it. 4. I personally feel like she reaches a broader audience than artists like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Bruno Mars, etc. People who enjoy pop music will still like her, people who like country music will still like her, churches will feel safe showing the halftime show knowing she won't do anything crazy. She could get a lot of people interested in actually watching or paying attention to the show.
Is she the biggest star out of the list of possibilities? No. But she sure is big enough to hold her own against them and be in consideration for it.

If it happens #awesome but if it doesn't happen she'll be fine because she's in a lot better space than for example Gaga in terms of radio and sales... Just hurry up and release the next album already... I'm ready

She performed at a private event in Orlando last night...for NBC Universal. That makes her third NBC-affiliated appearance for the year.
And one of her band members posted a caption on Instagram that confirmed "more rehearsals for the rest of the week." So, it's looking like there may be a solo component to her Grammy performance, since her band isn't needed for "The Fighter." There's also the possiblity of a performance at Clive's party but she's skipped that event for years now.

They just confirmed that there will be a George Michaels tribute at the show on Sunday. Stay perched, y'all.
Also yeah I'm incredibly interested in what she's got going on with NBC rn.

Is the Two Black Cadillacs" series thing a deal with NBC? That could be related... Now I'm even more convinced that the 2018 Super Bowl halftime show could be a reality!

Nah, the TBC mini-series was optioned by FOX. To be honest, I find it hard to believe that the NFL and NBC would determine a performer this far in advance, but I do think her relationship with the network is worth noting.
"The Fighter" is already up to #63 on iTunes. This is probably going Top 5 after Sunday night's performance.

I'd guess she was in LA to meet with Iain Pirie, former President of 19 Records. He's done A&R work on all of her previous albums. She'll likely start writing in the next month, so it makes sense to start lining up sessions now. Obviously, every situation is unique and motherhood is a variable, but do you know how long the wait has been previously from starting to write to album announcement/release? Say she's writing this month and plans to not use any previous holds or co-writes, when could we expect an album, going by previous standards?

Didn't she start working on Carnival Ride and Play On in early 2007/2009 and we got them by October/November?
On the other hand, Some Hearts was finished in 6 weeks.
On the other other hand, Blown Away/Storyteller took a bit of extra time.
It's really tough to call, but I still say a Fall 2017 release is doable.

I think a Christmas album will happen this fall. Gives her enough room to stay in the limelight, get some easy cash (it'd likely be a big seller, too, should it be done well & should she make/release a pretty broad and simple single from it a la "Underneath the Tree"), and extra time to work on CU6. It'd also help in spacing out some tour time, too. If she were to drop her next studio record in the fall and continue the usual pattern of beginning a tour a few months later, that'd be around the 2-year mark from the start of the Storyteller Tour, which was huge and long. She generally takes more gap time for tours in order to put on longer, larger, and expansive sets/tour legs.

Say she's writing this month and plans to not use any previous holds or co-writes, when could we expect an album, going by previous standards? Play On - writing began in January 2009, album released in November 2009 Blown Away - writing began in February 2011, album released in May 2012. Storyteller - writing began in February / March 2014, album released in October 2015. I'd imagine the upcoming album will follow a timeline similar to Blown Away or Storyteller. She once blogged about being burnt out from writing and recording entire albums in the span of a year, so I think she'll take her time again.

Speaking of which, girl needs to blog again. After losing 2 M&Gs for the Storyteller Tour + no recent blogs, I'm not feeling tempted to renew.*
*I still will bc I sold my soul to her ages ago, but still.

"The Fighter" is totally going to smash... definitely thinking it'll be an easy #1 for them both - HUGE crossover potential, too. Could end up being the song of the spring/summer. The Grammy performance should be the perfect launch.

So, Ariana Grande's "Dangerous Woman" was originally written with the idea of the lead vocalist on it to actually be Carrie.

Is Keith still on his tour? He and Carrie should TOTALLY tour this year... Even if just for the summer - I know Carrie likes to take summers off, but I'm dying to see her at an outdoor venue... I doubt it'll happen, but I know Keith has been hinting at a surprise for Sunday - probably just the video, but we will see!

I don't know what your point has to do with my statement. I wasn't talking about the other categories at all. I was suggesting the females could split the vote, allowing Urban to win. Okay well first, your statement hardly clarified that beyond "it's four girls and a guy." Literally, suggesting "four women split a vote, leaving room for the one dude to win?" What? No. Voters aren't voting on which vagina is the most worthy, and they're not all going to cancel each other out because they all just couldn't agree on one. I think it'll be a tough year for Carrie to win, but it won't be because of split-voting due to...gender. *digressing b/c it's 7am and I'm done* So, two writers for Country Universe made the same point I did: www.countryuniverse.net/2017/02/11/2017-grammy-awards-staff-picks-predictions/#comment-1886569

Like how they're not taking themselves too seriously in the video.

Carrie is so beautiful. The video is cheap but their chemistry and Carrie's looks and charisma save the video.

Is it a sample video? Like first look? Just something to help streaming after the Grammys? And a full fledged update video later on??
