I'm just really anxious for the set list. I wonder if "Relapse" will be on it. *fingers crossed*

Well, looks like we're getting a Heartbeat duet with Sam Hunt at the Grammys. (referring to the latest post on her FB)

I'm guessing Carrie will also sing a bit on one of Sam's songs (probably "Take Your Time" ) since th Grammys are always having artists sing on each other's songs in duets.

To me it looks like this is Carrie's slot and they're letting Sam share the spotlight in order to use his name for promo.

Sam is nominated for Best New Artist though (plus Country Album), so that would be odd for him to only get to sing a duet on a song thats not even his own. I mean, it could happen, but I feel like that wouldn't really be fair to Sam. I think Carrie singing a bit of one of his songs would be a cool thing though, and that would be more fair for Sam. Anyway, I'm excited for Carrie singing Heartbeat with Sam. That should help it with sales a lot - and if there is a duet version (even if its live) released, then I'm all for it. As a big fan of Sam as well, I just hope he gets to sing one of his own songs at the Grammys too.

Good point, but I think if anything, he'll be featured during Carrie's performance AND have his own performance. We'll see, but regardless, I'm very excited!

To me it looks like this is Carrie's slot and they're letting Sam share the spotlight in order to use his name for promo. I'm with lyrichord and zaclord 🌈 here, and would caution against reading anything into entertainment media touting this as Sam Hunt joining Carrie (if anyone is) -- entertainment media will naturally highlight Carrie's name because she is the biggest name announced today, and accurate representation matters little to most entertainment media these days in its chase for clicks (as you saw when the announcement E! hyped as big news was connected to the debut of a new Carrie Almay commercial, and when whatever hype you saw for Carrie's New Year Rockin' Eve performance raised your expectations for what it would be, only to translate into exactly the same format as her previous headlining stint there). The Grammy press release describes the Sam and Carrie performance as one of three collaborations, and I can't think of a reasonable scenario in which one of the performers in such a collaboration would just be there as ornamentation for the other's song. Besides, Carrie has generally managed to find a way to make her Grammy performances count, and I can't imagine that she would see "Heartbeat," even with Sam Hunt harmonies, making for a performance that would carry enough weight on music's biggest night. Moreover, let's be fair. While Carrie is of course the bigger and more accomplished star and the one who lends credibility to this pairing, all of Sam Hunt's singles so far are bigger hits than "Heartbeat" is right now. A combination of "Take Your Time" and "Heartbeat" would make sense together thematically, give both Sam and Carrie a chance to lead, and reduce pressure on either song to represent the performance. Even then, it's hard to imagine such a performance being one that impacts beyond "Aw, pretty, sweet songs by pretty people" in the best case scenario. But we'll see what Carrie and Sam have up their sleeves. ETA: Sam Hunt is very unlikely to get his own performance slot separate from the collaboration -- the Grammys almost never have a person perform twice and in the rare cases that has happened, it has been much bigger stars than Sam Hunt. And I hope that there isn't a duet version of "Heartbeat" released -- the song doesn't make sense as a duet, and there are already two versions of the song out there. I would imagine that label politics would get in the way of a full duet version, anyway, and this is a case where I would be glad about that.

I'm fine with a medley between the two, it just appeared to me that Carrie was their main focus. I see why that wouldn't be the case considering Sam has the bigger hits this year, and the bigger nominations. We'll see, I'm just happy to see Carrie on the bill at all - gives me something to look forward to!
ETA: I do think she could make "Heartbeat" very memorable and worth while. I think an acoustic version of the song with Sam on background vocals could be stunning if pulled off correctly. No production, no crazy graphics, no light-up dresses, just Carrie sitting and singing with Sam. I personally think it could make for a showstopper, but that's just a me.

To me, there's nothing about "Heartbeat" that screams "showstopper." It's obvious it'll be performed, and as Dudley mentioned, I doubt Sam Hunt is being given a performance slot & a spot in the press release just to be a background vocalist for another artist. I can see an HB/TYT mashup, and that'd be extremely predictable. But, it's the only thing I can come up with at the moment.

It doesn't "scream" it, but something quite memorable can definitely be pulled off, I think. An acoustic version of the song wth just Sam and Carrie could definitely do the trick, but we'll see!

Yeah, "Heartbeat" isn't exactly the most exciting song live, but I'm hoping the Grammy performance plus the addition of Sam Hunt will give the song more exposure and boost its sales. Perhaps it will even start to get some crossover airplay. I can almost see them releasing a "duet" version to iTunes after the Grammys, similar to how they released a separate version of "I Told You So" featuring Randy Travis.

Maybe Sam can take off his shirt at the end of the performance to spark controversy and create buzz, but Carrie wouldnt let that happen. Lol
Anyway, Heartbeat up to #47 on itunes.

Looking at the names of the artists on that list I'm surprised Carrie made the list at all. So this is based on the opinions of 80 people out of the thousands millions country fans who also express their opinions and preferences, when they buy records, attend concerts and vote for their favorites..It's all good. And this was for the year 2015.. Carrie had her greatest hits album and the super smash SITW and the now Grammy nominated vocals for her other hit LTG. Oh well, people are entitled to express their opinions and preferences. And from the looks of it these people REALLY like MUSGRAVES and MONROE.

Hahaha, yeah, I don't put much stock in those "80 critics" anyway. Carrie is a superstar and has been for the last 10 years. At times, I feel she suffers critically because she's 'too commercial,' whereas there is always the temptation of heap praise onto lesser-known artists because of the perception that their music is untainted by mainstream politics. Personally, I believe Blown Away and Storyteller have been really instrumental in highlighting Carrie's distinct artistry and have helped her stay afloat throughout country music's transitional period because it is all underpinned by genuine artistic integrity and the pursuit of legitimate art; she doesn;t make music simply to sell records and further cement her place in the public eye and on the Billboard charts, but rather to share her talent with others and because creating music is truly her passion. Who cares what this group of 80 people say--millions have been saying otherwise for over a decade.

I know she did not just relegate CHASER to an interlude.

At the rate that setlist is going, why is it called the "Storyteller" tour if there are next to no songs from Storyteller in it?

Yeah so far this setlist is a little disappointing. The stage looks incredible though. I wish she would utilize medleys a little more so she can incorporate more material.
I'll reserve my final thoughts though til the show's over lol.

To be fair, stans are always disappointed by setlists because they're not made for us. But, CHASER was crafted for arenas; I'm not sure if I can forgive her for that one's omission.

She's done three ST songs and she's probably about halfway through the show. She'll probably do five or six total when all is said and done; which is typical for her concerts.
