LOVED the end of that interview... the "Entertainer of the Year" part. My thoughts exactly; except the Eric Church part, no thanks.

Bobby asked some great questions there that aren't usually asked. I had always assumed she and Brad were paid for hosting the CMAs. The fact that they aren't is a shocker. Also, I'm glad Bobby also wonders why Carrie has never gotten EOTY. I wonder if he's aware she has never even been nominated. That's even weirder and if the situation stays the same until she's a white-haired lady with grandchildren, it'll be a trivia question on Jeopardy.
"This country superstar has sold a billion albums and singles, and has thousands of #1 singles yet has never, ever, ever been nominated for the CMA EOTY award. Not even once."
Back to SB, it's now #5 all-genre!

Does anyone remember how long it took SITW to get to the top 5? She's #4 now!

The Highway interview is now up, too. Thanks again, Maddkat!
Confirms that the tour is getting planned, the album cover is selected, and she's going to do a photoshoot for something today.

Another great interview! I always love these longer ones where she can settle in, especially when she's known the interviewer a long time.

Easily my least favorite lead single from her. In fact, this sounds like an album track that I would skip.
That said, I tend to only like 3-4 songs/album from her, though, so I'm sure there will be one or two gems at least on this CD that I like (I'm into her poppier/rockier stuff - Blown Away, TBC, and GG were the only tracks I liked from BA, for example).

Even though I'm disappointed in the lead single, I just love that we are in album mode!

After a few listens, i am in love with this record. Carrie can do no wrong.
Even tho its a different sound from Carrie's previous works, i can still hear Carrie's trademark

Man I haven't tracked songs in awhile. Crazy how even a top 15 song now is only 50-60K in sales. I think this will hit #1. Nothing huge on iTunes at the moment.

#1 on Apple Music streaming, all-genre. [This is separate from iTunes sales chart, for those that don't know.]

I read on Twitter that Carrie will be on "Fallon Tonight" September 10th. Can anyone confirm?

Not sure how to post it here, but Carrie tweeted a teaser for the "Smoke Break" video! She looks amazing and I love the desert setting and the sepia look to it! twitter.com/carrieunderwood

I have been thinking about her new sound and the more edgy "Smoke Break" and I do think this change will benefit Carrie's longevity at radio and relevancy with the general public.
First of all, examine her last 3 singles: "See You Again", "Something In The Water" and "Little Toy Guns". All three fit loosley into the message-song category, but more importantly, fit a tight image of a person, of an artist (good, wise, holy?). I think it is safe to say that these three songs -message-wise - were very different than the music being played on Country radio at the time (this is probably, to many - like myself - considered to be a good thing). The consistency in song-type stands out.
This consistency in message music combined with the fact that radio does not play many women, especially women over 40 (I know she is only 32) as well as the fact that she just become a mother could all make her seem relatively safe, older, less sexy, less current to the general audience. Creating a sexier (not trashier) look and a new rockier sound, in my opinion, shows an attempt at making Carrie seem younger, more current. And I do believe that with a quality song like "Smoke Break" that this is a good move.
I feel that people's interest in an artist fades once they can pigeon hole them. Carrie and her team seem to be working against that, and in a good way. I feel this new sound from Carrie will be welcomed at radio and by a wider - younger - audience.

"Smoke Break" is the most added song on MB this week with 145 adds (the MB panel is 154 stations). As far as I know, that's a record.

Video is awesome, and I'm pretty sure a clip of "Runaway Renegade" was used to open the video...

Video is fine. Nothing spectacular or "Somethin' Bad"-level of incredible, but it's good. She looks absolutely breathtaking (a given), and YES! at that "Renegade Runaway" teaser opening the video.
Really looking forward to seeing the album cover tomorrow! The red dress she was wearing in that ET BTS video from the link above would be an amazing look for the cover.
