Video is fine. Nothing spectacular or "Somethin' Bad"-level of incredible, but it's good. She looks absolutely breathtaking (a given), and YES! at that "Renegade Runaway" teaser opening the video. Really looking forward to seeing the album cover tomorrow! The red dress she was wearing in that ET BTS video from the link above would be an amazing look for the cover. I wonder if that means "Renegade Runaway" is an album cut, or just a go-to song to use for the video since it isn't going to be on the album?... And I agree, that red dress was stunning! They said they cut the scenes with the red dress from the video; perhaps because they wanted to use it for the cover after seeing how amazing she looked? We'll see tomorrow!

Love the video!!! The diner looks like the same diner as the one in Gaga's "Telephone" music video and My Chemical Romance's "Na na na" video! Love it! And that little teaser of Renegade Runaway (Presumably)!!!

I love this quote from the ET article:
Maybe it's just me reading into it, but I see this as a subtle comment on the tomato controversy. Carrie never actually said anything about that, but she's always been supportive of her fellow women and I think this is her way of doing that again.

I love the video! I will say I was thinking Carrie was going to ride the horse through the desert to the gig. Such a good feel to it.
Also, the red dress has to be for the album cover or for another video. It wouldn't have fit the video in any way, in my opinion.
ETA: I really love this look on her. I don't know a word for it, western rocker chick? Whatever it is, she kills it. Keep letting that blonde hair grow Carrie.
ETA x2: Wear them leather boots.

Runaway! Runaway! Runaway! Runaway! - I love how the video showcases strong women; feels appropriate and timely given the status of country radio in 2015. But, I'm kind of over seeing Carrie lipping lyrics behind the wheel of a car.
- I'm in full agreement that the red dress / Mojave desert night scene could make for a really striking album cover.
- "Renegade Runaway" sounds massive. Queen of Alliteration strikes again!

Video is awesome, and I'm pretty sure a clip of "Runaway Renegade" was used to open the video... Girl knows how to tease her fans!!

I keep re-watching just so I can listen to the RR clip. What kind of genius ploy for VEVO views?
Also, it's cute when she almost runs the guy down.

The video is visually appealing but that's about it. I think the storyline, to the extent there is one, is not cohesive. The various women after the diner just seem very random. And I appreciate Carrie's support to women but this song doesn't seem like the best fit for that visual message because there's a whole verse about a male character.
I guess I just feel the video is even less fleshed out than the song.

When they show the woman at the well soaking her face, I thought for sure Carrie would take a turn doing the same thing. Imagine the buzz that scene would have caused? LMAO!!! She looks hot as hell though, like hotter than ever before.

There wasn't a whole lot to do with the video given the lyrics of the song, so I can appreciate the final product for what it is. I liked the creativity of them bringing all of the characters full circle, along with Carrie, rather than her just being a narrator and having a bunch of random people working and calling it good.
I think we've become so spoiled with eventful epics and larger-than-life videos that this one just seems tame in comparison, and that's okay! The same goes for single releases from her. This is a real shift, so it makes sense that the video follows suit from the usual. Hopefully other videos of hers from this era are more theatrical, though. Given the title "Storyteller," I have hopes that they will be.
And I'm in total agreement -- that RR placement is all kinds of fantastic.

This might be my favorite album cover she's ever had. Also, kudos to Arista Nashville/Sony Nashville, The HQ and Carrie for the flawless rollout of everything so far. Even my most inner whiny armchair critic self is very, very happy with the staggered rollout but-within-a-single-week of the lead single title, lead single, album title, album release date, music video, and album cover... with each having the appropriate focus given to them via exclusives on social media (FB) and traditional media outlets (ET and EW). Since Galante left, I've been so disappointed and disheartened by the Overton era. For the first time in years, people, I have hope again!!! I dare to dream again. I have very, very good vibes about this album era.

Waiting for one without the "Entertainment" watermark on the bottom left corner, but here's the cover. I really love it. EW article

Simple and stunning. The pose is a tad awkward, but so is Carrie... So it works. Love the color scheme, but I was hoping for something a little more striking. Definitely a great cover, though, and sure to get people's attention.

....and I'm still staring at the album cover. This is the best she has EVER looked, yes? How is that even possible??!! ETA: (with thanks to @okies4carrie for the heads up) Carrie Underwood’s fitness line is making its New York Fashion Week debut this September. The spring line to be specific and apparently, it's one of the first times a sportswear collection will be shown at NYFW. There's a lengthy interview on there too where Carrie talks about Calia and health stuff.

Easily my favorite album cover. Love the color scheme too.
Her best cover since Some Hearts, imo. Play On cover was very pretty as well.

Also, she confirmed in a radio interview this morning that some tour news should be out by the album drop. Big, big thanks to maddkat for capping all of the interviews. Listen to them here.

Not that you guys have noticed and I definitely didn't expect you to , but I haven't commented on "Smoke Break." The reason was that on first listen, I was left unimpressed and didn't think I would want to listen to it again. You've gotta understand where I'm coming from literally and figuratively. I'm from and in the Philippines where there is zero country music. I became a diehard fan of Carrie's during her Idol run and she introduced me to country, her version of modern country-pop tinged with gospel and rock. I then learned to like other artists such as Sugarland, Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans, Revolution-era Miranda Lambert, etc, none of which are traditional country. So you can imagine that Carrie saying she's going the more traditional, twangy route on this new album did not exactly have me jumping for joy. Cue my first listen of "Smoke Break" and my expressionless face and heavy heart.... and then I listened again... and then I listened again... and then in the biggest turnaround I've ever had when it comes to Carrie music, I got it. I just got it. I absolutely effing love "Smoke Break" now. Love. It. Play it repeatedly. I even like the music video. The album cover is my favorite she's ever done. This whole album era has got me so hyped up right now. I feel really, really, really good about it. Eeeeek! I'm so gonna plan a trip overseas next year to catch a concert. The last time I spent oodles of money to see her was in 2010 for her Hollywood Bowl concert. I'm ready to anthem sing SB and fist bump fellow fans.

^ While I am not as excited as you are about SB yet, it has definitely grown on me since first listen as well.
I love the instrumentations/production at the beginning of the song and... am I odd if I adore the way she sings "pop that top"? loll

Not that she's set a high standard for herself, but that is easily her best album cover. She looks amazing,

Hopefully this wasn't posted already but "What I Never Knew I Always Wanted" is basically confirmed to be the song she wrote for her son according to this taste of country article. tasteofcountry.com/carrie-underwood-storyteller-cover-art/Look for Storyteller on Oct. 23. So far “Smoke Break” is the only confirmed track, but she promised one that was inspired by both her husband and six-month-old son. “It’s kind of one of the same song,” she tells Taste of Country Nights radio. “(It’s) about the things we never really knew that we wanted in life. You don’t realize that there’s something missing until you have it.”

I love the album cover. Probably my favourite (but that could just be because of its new-ness). I don't really like the Blown Away or Carnival Ride album covers at all, but Carnival Ride is probably still my favourite Carrie album. I'd probably rank it:
1) Storyteller 2) Some Hearts 3) Play On 4) Blown Away 5) Carnival Ride
Less than two months until we hear the whole thing!
