The set -- which was released on Maybach/Atlantic Records on June 30 -- moved 246,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 5, according to Nielsen Music. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Meek Mill bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart dated July 18, which will post in full to Billboard’s website on Thursday, July 9. It is the final Billboard 200 chart utilizing sales data from a Monday to Sunday tracking cycle, due to the music industry shifting to a global release date for new albums (Fridays, beginning on July 10). Going forward, Nielsen Music will alter its sales tracking week to a Friday to Thursday cycle. The first Billboard 200 chart impacted by this shift will see its top 10 revealed in a news story on Saturday, July 11, followed by a full posting of the chart on Tuesday, July 14.Dreams Worth More Than Money is Meek Mill’s second studio album, and also tallies his largest sales week: 215,000 in traditional album sales. It surpasses the opening week of his first album, Dreams and Nightmares, which launched with 165,000 in 2012. Further, Meek Mill’s new set garners the fourth largest sales frame for an album in 2015, following the debuts of Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (495,000), Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly (324,000) and Mumford & Sons’ Wilder Mind (231,000). Meek Mill is the fifth act in a row to earn their first No. 1 album. He follows Breaking Benjamin (with Dark Before Dawn), James Taylor (Before This World), Muse (Drones) and Florence + the Machine (How Big How Blue How Beautiful). The top slot hasn’t had this many successive newly-crowned No. 1 acts in 14 years. Back in July of 2001, Alicia Keys was the sixth act in a row to score their first No. 1. Her Songs In A Minor opened atop the chart dated July 14. It was preceded by the first leaders for D12 (Devil’s Night), Blink-182 (Take Off Your Pants and Jacket), Staind (Break the Cycle), Tool (Lateralus) and Destiny’s Child (Survivor). Back on the new Billboard 200, last week’s No. 1, Breaking Benjamin’s Dark Before Dawn, slips to No. 6 with 31,000 units (down 78 percent). Miguel’s third album Wildheart starts in the runner-up slot (with 48,000 units, of which 41,000 are traditional album sales), giving the singer his highest-charting set yet. His previous album, 2012’s Kaleidoscope Dream, debuted and peaked at No. 3 (with 71,000 in pure sales), while his 2010 debut All I Want Is You topped out at No. 37 the following year. Taylor Swift’s 1989 rises one position to No. 3 with 48,000 units (down 11 percent) while Ed Sheeran’s x climbs 7-4 with 39,000 (up 10 percent). James Taylor’s Before This World is steady at No. 5 with 33,000 (down 34 percent). Rock act X Ambassadors arrives at No. 7 with its debut full-length album VHS, starting with 30,000 units. (25,000 of that sum is traditional album sales.) The set was led by the hit single “Renegades,” which has spent the past four weeks locked at No. 1 on the Alternative Songs chart. On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart dated July 11, the song rose to a new peak, climbing 74-65. Sam Hunt’s Montevallo holds steady at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 with 29,000 units. Rock band August Burns Red claims its second top 10 album, as Found In Far Away Places opens at No. 9 with 29,000 units (essentially all from album sales -- the best sales frame ever for the band). The group had previously visited the top 10 with 2013’s Rescue & Restore (26,000 sold in its first week), while the act’s largest sales week had been when 2011’s Leveler bowed at No. 11 with just a few units less than the opening of Found In Far Away Places. Over on the Top Christian Albums chart, August Burns Red secures its fourth chart-topper with Found In Far Away Places, following Leveler, Constellations (in 2009), and The Messenger (2007). Closing out the new Billboard 200’s top 10 is the soundtrack to the film Magic Mike XXL, which dances in at No. 10 with 26,000 units (25,000 from pure album sales). The set -- filled with bump-n-grind tunes featured in the sequel to the stripper drama Magic Mike -- easily trumps the peak position of the first Magic Mike soundtrack, which topped out at No. 167 on the July 21, 2012-dated tally. Magic Mike XXL also debuts at No. 1 on the Soundtracks chart.

I don't still get it... Is this an official chart or is the one published on Saturday only the official chart to cover the week 29th of June - 5th of July? Why two charts?

I mean I can very well understand one 11-day chart but not two published charts covering partly the same time period.

Why not a 6 day chart and then a 5 day chart?

So this chart shift results in a longer wait for full chart results - 3 days (Sat - Tue) v (Tue - Thurs) - so much for technology and progress.

Wait- shouldn't it be July 18 and 21, rather than July 11 and 14? That's what I thought; I figured we'd skip next Wednesday/Thursday, get the article on Saturday, and get caught up that way. I'm suddenly very confused.

I see even the original article had the July 11/14 dates. Even though July 10 is the start of the new release date, I guess Billboard wants top have everything in place before then.

Taylor Swift's 1989 is the 2nd album this decade to sell 5 million copies. The first, of course, was 21 by Adele, which has now sold more than 11 million copies. Am I correct on the below for 4 million plus sellers since 2010?
1 21 by Adele - 11.1 million 2 1989 by Taylor Swift - 5 million 3 Recovery by Eminem - 4.6 million? 4 Speak Now by Taylor Swift - 4.5 million 5 Red by Taylor Swift - 4.2 million 6 Need You Now by Lady Antebellum - 4 million?

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6620398/taylor-swifts-1989-5-million-fastest-selling-album-decadeTaylor Swift's '1989' Hits 5 Million in U.S. Sales, Making It the Fastest-Selling Album In Over 10 YearsBy Keith Caulfield | July 08, 2015 Taylor Swift’s mega-selling 1989 album continues to be unstoppable. The set has now surpassed 5 million in U.S. sales, according to Nielsen Music, making it the fastest seller to reach that plateau in more than 10 years. 1989 crossed the 5 million mark in the week ending July 5, with another 26,000 sold (its total now stands at 5.015 million). The album reaches the milestone in only its 36th week of release -- the speediest climb to 5 million since the week ending Aug. 1, 2004, when Usher’s Confessions hit 5 million in only its 19th week on sale. 1989 is Swift’s third album to sell 5 million copies, following Fearless (released in 2008) and her self-titled debut (released in 2006). They've sold 6.95 million and 5.52 million, respectively, to-date. This is also the most recently released album to sell 5 million since Adele’s 21 powered through 5 million in its 42nd week (Dec. 11, 2011); 21 has sold 11.1 million. On the latest Billboard 200 albums chart (dated July 18), 1989 spends its 36th consecutive week in the top 10 (rising 4-3). The last album to rack up its first 36 chart weeks in the top 10 was Adele’s 21, which didn’t vacate the region until its 79th chart week (dated Sept. 8, 2012).

www.metalinsider.net/columns/metal-by-numbers/metal-by-numbers-78-july-burns-redMetal By Numbers 7/8: July burns redPosted by Matt Brown on July 8, 2015 Metal By Numbers is a weekly column in which we look at the top metal sellers and debuts of the week. So, I made an oopsie last week; I listed the numbers for the new August Burns Red and Refused albums when, in actuality, they were pre-order numbers that sometimes appear. The numbers you’re seeing this week are the real debut numbers for the two albums. Guess I’ll have to keep better track of album release dates; I don’t want to cause confusion after all. So take a look at this week’s numbers and be prepared for the new Tool album next week! Notable Debuts: August Burns Red, Found In Faraway Places (Fearless) #4, 28,600 sold The band’s seventh album marks their best debut yet. Failure, The Heart Is A Monster (INgrooves) #42, 7,250 sold Failure returns with its first new album in well over a decade. Judging from the reaction, they were missed. Thy Art Is Murder, Holy War (Nuclear Blast) #43, 7,125 sold The band’s third album makes it into the top fifty and is sure to pull in more numbers thanks to Mayhem Fest. Refused, Freedom (Epitaph) #65 4,475 sold The first new album in 17 years gets a solid debut. It’s definitely the biggest chart week they’ve ever had in the States. Being As An Ocean, Being As An Ocean (InVogue) #72, 3,775 sold This California post-hardcore debuts its third album. Mutoid Man, Bleeder (Sargent House) 1,225 sold The first LP from the trio featuring members of Cave In and Converge is off to a nice start. Jungle Rot, Order Shall Prevail (Victory) 990 sold The band releases its eighth studio album. Wilson, Right To Rise (Razor & Tie) 950 sold This is the second album from Detroit rockers Wilson, who have the phrase “full blast fuckery” written on their info page no less than four times. Goblin Rebirth, Goblin Rebirth (Relapse) 570 sold One of the four current incarnations of Goblin has released its self-titled debut. Bitter End, Illusions of Dominance (Deathwish) 440 sold This is the latest album from this San Antonio hardcore act. Ecstatic Vision, Sonic Praise (Relapse) 320 sold This Philly psychedelic metal band featuring former A Life Once Lost members makes its debut. Notable Sales:Breaking Benjamin, Dark Before Dawn (Hollywood) #5, 27,750 sold This takes an 80% drop, but is still in the top five. Kid Rock, First Kiss (Warner Bros.) #48, 6,275 sold This gets a 75% boost and I’m running out of clever ways to rag on this. Halestorm, Into the Wild Life (Atlantic) #116, 2,525 sold A slight boost of 3%. Foo Fighters, Sonic Highways (RCA) #145, 2,075 sold Following the band’s 20th anniversary show, this gets boosted by 34%. AC/DC, Rock or Bust (Columbia) #175, 1,800 sold This dropped off again last week, but a 72% bumps this back up. Slipknot, .5: The Gray Chapter (Roadrunner) #162, 1,775 sold A boost of 4%. High On Fire, Luminiferous (eOne) #168, 1,700 sold This takes a drop of 37%. Lindemann, Skills In Pills (Warner Bros.) 1,300 sold This takes a 72% drop. Hundredth, Free (Hopeless) 960 sold A drop of 39%. Our Last Night, Younger Dreams (Self-Released) 730 sold Dreaming of a 9% drop. Straight Line Stitch, Transparency (Pavement) 630 sold The band’s latest EP is a follow-up to their self-titled EP from last year. Babymetal, Babymetal (VAP Japan) 530 sold A 34% drop. Armored Saint, Win Hands Down (Metal Blade) 430 sold A 33% drop sain’t that good. Outlands, Grave Mind (Tragic Hero) 330 sold A second 50% drop. Amaranthe, Massive Addictive (Spinefarm) 290 sold Still holding on with a slight drop of 5%. iwrestledabearonce, Hail Mary (Artery) 290 sold Bearing a 33% drop. Silent Planet, The Night God Slept (Solid State) 280 sold A tiny 1% boost. Shattered Sun, Hope Within Hatred (Victory) 270 sold No doubt Mayhem Fest is why this has gotten boosted back onto the charts.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6627274/billboard-200-chart-moves-dr-dre-chronic-returns-20-yearsBillboard 200 Chart Moves: Dr. Dre's 'Chronic' Returns After Over 20 YearsBy Keith Caulfield | July 10, 2015 On the latest Billboard 200 chart (dated July 18), rapper Meek Mill scored his first No. 1 album, as Dreams Worth More Than Money opened atop the tally. It moved 246,000 equivalent album units in the week ending July 5, according to Nielsen Music. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The July 18-dated chart is the final Billboard 200 chart utilizing sales data from a Monday to Sunday tracking cycle, due to the music industry shifting to a global release date for new albums (Fridays, beginning on July 10). Going forward, Nielsen Music will alter its sales tracking week to a Friday to Thursday cycle. The first Billboard 200 chart impacted by this shift will see its top 10 revealed in a news story on Saturday, July 11, followed by a full posting of the chart on Tuesday, July 14. (Read this story for further information about the changes.) Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the July 18 chart: — Neil Young + Promise of the Real, The Monsanto Years – No. 21 — Neil Young’s latest effort (which launches with 18,000 units) also gives the rock icon his 40th top 40 album. That ties him with The Beatles for the sixth most top 40 albums in the history of the chart (which began publishing on a regular, weekly basis in 1956). Ahead of them are Frank Sinatra (with the record most top 40 sets: 56), Elvis Presley (52), Barbra Streisand (51), the Rolling Stones (45) and Bob Dylan (44). Young has been very prolific in recent years, as he’s notched 18 of his top 40 titles since 2000. That’s the most top 40 hits in that span of time for a traditional artist, with only the Glee cast (with 20) and the Kidz Bop Kids franchise (27) having earned more. (To compare, between 1985-1999, Young only earned seven top 40 albums.) — Joy Williams, Venus – No. 71 — After charting five albums as a member of the folk/rock duo The Civil Wars, singer Joy Williams nets her first solo entry on the Billboard 200 with Venus (8,000 units). The Civil Wars’ second (and likely final) studio album, a 2013 self-titled set, debuted at No. 1. Although Venus is Williams’ first entry on the big chart, she’s charted solo albums in earlier years on the Top Christian Albums chart: a self-titled set in 2001 (which peaked at No. 12), By Surprise (2002, No. 31) and Genesis (2005, No. 18). Venus also debuts at No. 3 on the Folk Albums chart, where The Civil Wars have scored 10 entries (the most of any duo or group), including two No. 1s. — Dr. Dre, The Chronic – No. 72 — After more than 20 years off the chart, Dr. Dre’s The Chronic returns to the list at No. 72 with 8,000 units. Its re-entrance is prompted by the album’s return to digital retailers, where it had been unavailable since 2011. The bulk of its unit total for the week was driven by download sales, as the set also debuts at No. 23 on the Digital Albums chart with 6,000 downloads sold. The Chronic was last on the Billboard 200 chart dated Aug. 27, 1994. In total, the album spent 28 weeks in the top 10, all consecutive, in 1993. It peaked at No. 3 for six nonconsecutive weeks and has sold 5.7 million copies in the U.S. — The Rolling Stones, Sticky Fingers: Live - No. 92 — The Rolling Stones rock with its 53rd chart entry, as its new album Sticky Fingers: Live arrives at No. 92 with 7,000 units. The album was recorded on May 20 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, where the Stones played the 10-song Sticky Fingers album in its entirety for the first time as a kick-off to its current Zip Code tour. (Sticky Fingers, first released in 1971, was reissued in a variety of formats on June 9.) Among those tunes are tracks like “You Gotta Move,” which hadn’t been performed by the band since 1976, and “Sister Morphine,” not performed since 1998. Sticky Fingers: Live is The Rolling Stones’ 13th charting live album. The group last visited the chart with a new studio album nearly 10 years ago, when A Bigger Bang bowed at No. 3 on the Sept. 24, 2005-dated chart. — Lee Greenwood, American Patriot - No. 172 — Thanks to the annual resurgence in popularity of Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the U.S.A.,” its parent album American Patriot debuts on the tally at No. 172 with 4,000 units earned. (It’s Greenwood’s first chart entry since 1985, when Greatest Hits peaked at No. 163.) The bulk of American Patriot’s units for the week (71 percent) were powered by track equivalent albums — mostly sales of “God Bless the U.S.A.” The song always sees a spike in popularity around the Independence Day holiday, and was up 142 percent in download sales, rising to 6,000 for the week. “God Bless the U.S.A.” was initially a hit in 1984, peaking at No. 7 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The song later became a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, debuting and peaking at No. 16 on the Hot 100 dated Sept. 29, 2001.
