Billboard 200 7/25/15: Meek Mill #1 with 307K

This chart is based on the 11-day tracking period between June 29 and July 9.  It's being used to bridge the gap between the previous Monday-Sunday tracking week and the new Friday-Thursday tracking week.

Included in the unit calculation is activity from June 29-July 5, which was previously used to inform the 7/18/15 Billboard 200.

As of post time, the Billboard Top 10 article does not include any pure sales figures.

The first Billboard 200 albums chart impacted by the new global release day -- and Nielsen Music's shift in tracking weeks -- has arrived.



With Friday now the new release day for most major albums (beginning July 10), Nielsen Music will alter its sales tracking week to Friday through Thursday, instead of the traditional Monday through Sunday.



-- Last week's Billboard 200 (dated July 18) was the final chart to use the Monday through Sunday tracking frame (week ending July 5).



-- Next week's Billboard 200 (dated Aug. 1) will be the first to use Friday through Thursday tracking frame (week ending July 16 data).



-- This week's Billboard 200 (dated July 25) acts as a transition chart between the two different tracking cycles, and reflects a one-time only 11-day sales tracking frame (ending July 9).




The new July 25-dated chart is, as one would expect, very similar to the July 18 chart. That's not only because of the extended 11-day tracking frame that overlaps with the July 18 chart, but also because so few new albums were released between July 6-9.



Leading the new Billboard 200 is Meek Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money, which racks up a second stanza at No. 1. The album moved 307,000 equivalent album units in the 11-day frame ending July 9. That sum combines the 246,000 units it earned in the week ending July 5 with the 61,000 units it collected between July 6 and July 9.



Taylor Swift's 1989 rises 3-2 (77,000 units), Miguel's Wildheart slips 2-3 (65,000) and Ed Sheeran's X holds at No. 4 (63,000). The soundtrack to Magic Mike XXL dances up five slots, climbing 10-5 with 48,000. Sam Hunt's Montevallo moves 8-6 (48,000 units), Breaking Benjamin's Dark Before Dawn falls 6-7 (43,000), James Taylor's Before This World descends 5-8 (41,000) and X Ambassadors' VHS dips 7-9 (39,000). Maroon 5's V rounds out the top 10, stepping 11-10 with 38,000.



As noted earlier, since there were so few new releases issued between July 6-9, very few titles debut on the new chart. Just three albums debut this week, led by Jake Miller's Rumors EP, which starts at No. 61 with 16,000 units. The set was released on July 8.



All of Billboard's charts dated July 25, including the Billboard 200, will be posted to Billboard's websites on Tuesday, July 14. Going forward, the top 10 of the Billboard 200 is scheduled to be revealed in a news story on Billboard's sites every Saturday, while the full chart will refresh the following Tuesday at billboard.com/charts.

When the sales period used to end on Sundays, the BB200 articles were out on Wednesdays (or Thursdays?).

So if the new sales period ends on Thursdays, the BB200 articles should be out on Sundays, but I think they'll be out on Mondays.

Meek Mill holds the top spot on the Billboard Top 100 chart for the second week in a row. Big Sean jumps up the charts for the second week in a row. Drake sees more action in this week's sales, but drops a couple spots. Kendrick Lamar's also To Pimp A Butterfly remains a Top 10 Rap album.

Meek Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money is the #1 album in the country for the second week in a row. The project moved 307,401 total units.

Drake's "If Youre Reading This Its Too Late" Continues To Sell

Drake overtook A$AP Rocky two weeks ago to become the highest-selling Rap album. He dropped a few spots this week, from #12 to #14, but If Youre Reading This Its Too Late saw 32,788 units of activity.

Big Sean "Dark Sky Paradise" Climbs The Charts

Big Sean's Dark Sky Paradise continues to climb the charts, moving from #37 to #22 on this week's Top 200. The sophomore album from the Detroit rapper saw 26,642 units of total activity.

"Furious 7" Soundtrack Still In Top 10

The soundtrack for Furious 7 is still in the Top 10 Rap & R&B albums despite only selling 4,080 albums. The project has gotten a lot of support through Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," which tied Eminem and The Black Eyed Peas for longest run as #1 Rap single.

Kacey Musgraves rips #1 from labelmate Easton Corbin by less than two thousand albums in this special 11 day tracking report from SoundScan and RoughStock!

The top-selling country album for a second week is Kacey Musgraves’ Pageant Material. Because of the 11 day tracking period, that means that Easton Corbin’s About To Get Real retains the #1 for last week’s chart but may get scrubbed in the future because of the chart moves due to the Friday world release day move. However the news from last Wendesday still holds true for Easton and he gets to celebrate having the #1 album on the Albums Chart (nearly 27k scanned). At #3 for the Country Album Chart Report for July 13, 2015 is Sam Hunt’s Montevallo. It sits at #3 with sales now at nearly 633k to date while Zac Brown Band’s Jekyll + Hyde sits at #4 with 436k to date. Sitting at #5 is Now Country 8. It has scanned over 62k in four weeks on the chart.

A) It looks like the data copied in your post is from an older version of the article.  The Roughstock piece now lists the 11-day sales totals.

B) That said, there seems to be a disparity with the data.  Billboard has Easton Corbin's album at #1 for the 11-day week as well (25K).  It has Kacey at #2 for a second straight chart (24K over the 11-days).  I'm wondering if Roughstock accidentally posted consumption unit data rather than pure sales data (which, admittedly, would be more appropriate for the Billboard 200 thread)?

Kacey Musgraves rips #1 from labelmate Easton Corbin by less than two thousand albums in this special 11 day tracking report from SoundScan and RoughStock!

The top-selling country album for a second week is Kacey Musgraves’ Pageant Material. Because of the 11 day tracking period, that means that Easton Corbin’s About To Get Real retains the #1 for last week’s chart but may get scrubbed in the future because of the chart moves due to the Friday world release day move. However the news from last Wendesday still holds true for Easton and he gets to celebrate having the #1 album on the Albums Chart (nearly 27k scanned). At #3 for the Country Album Chart Report for July 13, 2015 is Sam Hunt’s Montevallo. It sits at #3 with sales now at nearly 633k to date while Zac Brown Band’s Jekyll + Hyde sits at #4 with 436k to date. Sitting at #5 is Now Country 8. It has scanned over 62k in four weeks on the chart.

Top Ten Recap

Little Big Town sits at #6 with Pain Killer, a record which has scanned 287k to date. Landing at #7 is the Platinum-certified The Outsiders from Eric Church (1.001 million scanned to date). Brantley Gilbert’s Just As I Am sits at #8 with 862k scanned while Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt. It is certified Platinum and has scanned 992k to date while holding down #9 this week. Strange way of counting that Meek Mill's sales would have increased from last week.. it hasn't sold 600k, has it? ;)

No  Meek Mill has sold 43000 during the 4 days that were not in the prior chart, would still be #1 though.

This 11 day chart contains the same 7 days that were in the 7/18 chart

Meek Mill Reigns Again at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart

Editor's note: This story was updated at 12:30 p.m. PT on July 13 after Nielsen Music revised its sales data. The unit totals for all titles in the top 10 have changed, as have some of the rankings.

The first Billboard 200 albums chart impacted by the new global release day -- and Nielsen Music's shift in tracking weeks -- has arrived.

With Friday now the new release day for most major albums (beginning July 10), Nielsen Music will alter its sales tracking week to Friday through Thursday, instead of the traditional Monday through Sunday.

Billboard to Alter Chart Tracking Week for Global Release Date

-- Last week's Billboard 200 (dated July 18) was the final chart to use the Monday through Sunday tracking frame (week ending July 5).

-- Next week's Billboard 200 (dated Aug. 1) will be the first to use Friday through Thursday tracking frame (week ending July 16 data).

-- This week's Billboard 200 (dated July 25) acts as a transition chart between the two different tracking cycles, and reflects a one-time only 11-day sales tracking frame (ending July 9).

The new July 25-dated chart is, as one would expect, very similar to the July 18 chart. That's not only because of the extended 11-day tracking frame that overlaps with the July 18 chart, but also because so few new albums were released between July 6-9.

Leading the new Billboard 200 is Meek Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money, which racks up a second stanza at No. 1. The album moved 289,000 equivalent album units in the 11-day frame ending July 9. That sum combines the 246,000 units it earned in the week ending July 5 with the 42,000 units it collected between July 6 and July 9.

Taylor Swift's 1989 rises 3-2 (70,000 units), Miguel's Wildheart slips 2-3 (60,000) and Ed Sheeran's X holds at No. 4 (58,000). Sam Hunt's Montevallo moves 8-5 (44,000 units), James Taylor's Before This World descends 5-6 (40,000), Breaking Benjamin's Dark Before Dawn falls 6-7 (39,000), the Magic Mike XXL soundtrack shimmies 10-8 (nearly 39,000) and X Ambassadors' VHS dips 7-9 (37,000). Maroon 5's V rounds out the top 10, stepping 11-10 with 36,000.

As noted earlier, since there were so few new releases issued between July 6-9, very few titles debut on the new chart. Just three albums debut this week, led by Jake Miller's Rumors EP, which starts at No. 118 with 8,000 units. The set was released on July 8.

All of Billboard's charts dated July 25, including the Billboard 200, will be posted to Billboard's websites on Tuesday, July 14. Going forward, the top 10 of the Billboard 200 is scheduled to be revealed in a news story on Billboard's sites every Saturday, while the full chart will refresh the following Tuesday at billboard.com/charts.

It's their all new encompassing name for anything they track now - radio, sales, & streaming. They don't use the BDS name anymore either.

Gary may want to repost the album charts as they have been edited, not sure whether Billboard.biz will update them later but there have been some changes to the album charts.

For example, on the Billboard 200, Lauren Daigle's "How Can It Be" stays on the Billboard 200, Jeremy Camp's "I Will Follow" re-enters the chart at #197, and Old Dominion's EP debuts at #200 instead of #198 as previously posted.
