Future Earns His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 Chart News /
By Keith Caulfield | July 26, 2015 10:30 AM EDT
Future celebrates his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as DS2 arrives atop the list. The set starts at No. 1 on the chart dated Aug. 8 with 147,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 23, according to Nielsen Music.
The album is his third studio effort and was released on July 17 through A-1/Freebandz/Epic Records, though it was only announced on July 10.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The Aug. 8-dated chart will be posted in full to Billboard's websites on Tuesday, July 28.
Future also tallied his best sales week yet, as DS2 launches with 121,000 albums sold. That more than doubles his previous high, when his last album, 2014's Honest, bowed at No. 2 with 53,000. (His first set, 2012's Pluto, debuted and peaked at No. 8 off a 41,000 start.) DS2 was ushered in by its single "Commas," which peaked at No. 11 on the Hot Rap Songs chart in June.
Future's new album is the latest major hip-hop release that arrived to market in 2015 with little notice, following No. 1s from Meek Mill, Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
Meek Mill's long-delayed Dreams Worth More Than Money was released on June 29, though that release date was only announced on June 23 (the same day it became available for pre-orders through digital services). The album was initially planned for a September 2014 release. Dreams Worth More Than Money ultimately debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (with 246,000 units), giving Meek Mill his first chart-topper and his best sales week ever (215,000 sold).
Kendrick Lamar's No. 1-debuting To Pimp a Butterfly was released on March 16, just 10 days after it was announced on March 6. Drake's chart-topping If You're Reading This It's Too Late was both announced and went on sale the same day, Feb. 12.
Taylor Swift's 1989 holds at No. 2 on the latest Billboard 200 with 50,000 units (down 9 percent).
Country superstar Alan Jackson collects his 14th top 10 album as Angels and Alcohol bows at No. 3 with 48,000 units. It also debuts at No. 1 the Top Country Albums chart (45,000 in pure album sales) -- Jackson's 14th leader on the tally. He was last atop the list in 2012 with Thirty Miles West. Jackson's first No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart came in 1993 with A Lot About Livin' (and a Little 'Bout Love), which ruled for five weeks.
Tyrese's Black Rose falls from No. 1 to No. 4 with 47,000 (down a moderate 40 percent in its second week).
Jason Isbell arrives in the top 10 on both the Billboard 200 and Top Country Albums, as his new Something More Than Free launches at No. 5 on the former (41,000 units) and No. 2 on the latter (40,000 copies sold -- his best sales week). It's the first top 10 on both charts for Isbell, who has previously logged three chart entries on the Billboard 200 since 2009, going as high as No. 23 in 2013 with Southeastern.
Isbell's new album also debuts at No. 1 on both the Top Rock Albums and Folk Albums charts.
Meek Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money descends 3-6 with 39,000 (down 26 percent).
Tame Impala's Kevin Parker Is Ready to Jump From Reclusive Studio Whiz to Global Alt-Rock God
The fourth and final debut in the top 10 comes from rock act Tame Impala, which scores its first top 10 with Currents. It's the act's third full-length studio effort and it launches with 38,000 units (of which 33,000 are pure album sales, a career high). Tame Impala's last album, 2012's Lonerism, debuted and peaked at No. 34 (12,000 sold in its first week). It went on to sell a total of 210,000 copies in the United States.
Rounding out the top 10 are Ed Sheeran's X (5-8 with 32,000; down 4 percent), Sam Hunt's Montevallo (7-9 with 30,000 units; up 1 percent) and Kidz Bop Kids' Kidz Bop 29 (4-10 with 24,000 units; down 35 percent).

While Billboard has yet to amend its Chart Beat article, it appears there WAS another correction.
In tonight's Billboard Country update, Billboard says that Jason Isbell's "Something More Than Free" -- not Alan Jackson's "Angels and Alcohol" -- is #1 on Top Country Albums with 46,000 sales. Jackson's album had a few hundred shy of 46K.
In the original report, Jackson's album sold 45K and Isbell's sold 40K.

Ok so now Tame Impala are #4, Jackson is #5 and Isbell #6.. lol get your s**t together Billboard. We don't have to get incorrect article on Sunday, we need correct article when the chart is published (or some hours before if we're lucky)

Thanks for posting.
Do we know why The Essential Billy Joel is ranked No. 105 on the BB 200, yet isn't in top 100 album sales or the catalog top 50? Did some sort of streaming activity contribute to its ranking?

roughstock.com/news/2015/07/36603-country-album-chart-report-july-28-2015/Country Album Chart Report for July 28, 2015Posted by Matt Bjorke on July 28, 2015 at 4:21 pm Jason Isbell and Alan Jackson give a valiant fight to see who would lead this week’s chart. This week’s Country Album Chart Report for July 28, 2015 features a pair of strong-selling debuts as Jason Isbell’s Something More Than Free rode indie record store sales to out-sell Alan Jackson’s Angels and Alcohol by only 300 copies (after initial reports had neglected to include the indie store sales figures). if you use the reports from the Billboard Top 200 chart which includes streaming #s, Alan Jackson held onto the #1 country album by more than 600 ‘albums’ sold/heard). Sam Hunt’s Montevallo sits at #3 with sales now at 655k and growing. Zac Brown Band’s Jekyll+Hyde has sold 454,000 albums to date while Eric Church is at 1.014 million albums scanned with The Outsider to round out this week’s Top 5. Top Ten Recap Little Big Town slides down the chart this week but they gained album sales over last week with Pain Killer. They have now scanned over 300k copies of the album which features the #1 hit “Day Drinking” and the best-selling single of 2015, “Girl Crush.” Sitting at #7 is Kasey Musgraves’ sophomore album Pageant Material. She’s scanned over 96k to date while the Various artist Now Country 8 has scanned over 74k. Jason Aldean’s Old Boots New Dirt has scanned over one million copies to date to sit at #9 while Brantley Gilbert’s “Just As I Am” sits at #10 with sales of nearly 873k to date. www.metalinsider.net/columns/metal-by-numbers/metal-by-numbers-728-the-calm-before-the-lambMetal by Numbers 7/28: The calm before the LambPosted by Bram Teitelman on July 28, 2015 This past Friday, one of the biggest metal albums of the year came out, Lamb of God’s VII: Sturm und Drang. If you care about the state of the music industry and like metal, you’ve probably already bought it. As Randy Blythe noted in an Instagram post, it’s battling Jill Scott for the #1 album in the country next week. While we don’t have anything that exciting brewing this week, there are some solid numbers being put up by some of the other releases out there. Read on, readers. Notable Debuts:George Lynch, Shadow Train (Rat Pak Records) #88, 3,000 sold Former Dokken guitarist (and Lynch Mob founder) is back for the attack with his 12th (!) solo album. Powerwolf, Blessed & Possessed (Napalm) 975 sold The German power metal band’s sixth album has a solid start. Notable Sales:Breaking Benjamin, Dark Before Dawn (Hollywood) #15, 10,300 sold A fourth week of over 10,000 sales is a huge success with any rock record. It should cross 200,000 sold next week. Kid Rock, First Kiss (Warner Bros.) #47 5,400 sold This album’s up to about 300,000 sold. Almost enough to buy a yacht called Chillin the Most and rock that bitch up and down the coast. Memphis May Fire, Unconditional (Razor & Tie) #64, 4,000 sold Not sure what made this jump back on the chart, but it only sold a little over 150 copies last week. August Burns Red, Found In Faraway Places (Fearless) #90, 2,900 sold Only a 9% drop in week three suggests that this is the band’s comfort zone, which ain’t a bad place to be. Between The Buried And Me, Coma Ecliptic (Metal Blade) #92, 2,800 sold A pretty huge 85% drop in week 2, but it’s still majorly impressive that they had the #6 album in the country last week. Of Mice & Men, Restoring Force (Rise) re-entry #112, 2,400 sold This 2014 album has quietly sold almost 200,000 albums. Halestorm, Into the Wild Life (Atlantic) #137, 1,900 sold This sells roughly the same as it did last week. Slipknot, .5: The Gray Chapter (Roadrunner) #157, 1,675 sold This sold the same amount as it did last week. Should be interesting to see if the just-started tour contributes to additional sales. Cradle of Filth, Hammer of the Witches (Nuclear Blast) #160, 1,600 sold A pretty modest 55% second week drop proves that many people don’t think Cradle of Filth is a c**t. Foo Fighters, Sonic Highways (RCA) #183, 1,400 sold Now that Dave’s off the road, does he keep the throne? I would. Phinehas, Till the End (Artery) #200, 1,275 sold Just holding on, the band have a pretty respectable 61% second week drop. Bobaflex, Anything That Moves (Bobaflex) 830 sold These guys sold more than they did in the second week than they did in their first. Lindemann, Skills In Pills (Warner Bros.) 630 sold This sold 8% more than it did last week. Maybe some people told their friends “du hast” to hear it! Babymetal, Babymetal (VAP Japan) 525 sold This will hit the 25,000 sold mark shortly. Pretty impressive. Hundredth, Free (Hopeless) 520 sold Warped Tour must be helping these guys out, as they sold 41% more than last week. Youth In Revolt, Love is a Liar’s Game (Outerloop) 500 sold This band is from Howell, NJ, which from our recollection has a lot of strip malls and highways. Our Last Night, Younger Dreams (Self-Released) 500 sold The band has a big 35% jump in sales. Thanks, Warped Tour! Iwrestledabearonce, Hail Mary (Artery Recordings) 360 sold A modest 20% increase in week 4 suggests that people are saying Hail to the yes. Palisades, Mind Games (Rise) 350 sold This Jersey band has sold nearly 9,000 copies of their Rise debut. Refused, Freedom (Epitaph) 335 sold This has a 35% increase in week #4. Their tour dates with Faith No More next week might bump things up a bit more. Orchid, Sign of the Witch (Nuclear Blast) 330 sold The doom band’s fourth album sells about what it sold last week, for a total of about 650 sold. Armored Saint, Win Hands Down (Metal Blade) 320 sold This is continuing to sell, with an increase from the previous week in it’s seventh week. Jungle Rot, Order Shall Prevail (Victory) 315 sold Another week three increase, this from some former Slayer fans. Full Devil Jacket, Valley of Bones (eOne Music) 300 sold Remember these guys? Another 300 people did this week. Amaranthe, Massive Addictive (Spinefarm) 275 sold As promises, this record has crossed the 20,000-sold milestone, 39 weeks in. Shattered Sun, Hope Within Hatred (Victory) 250 sold Looks like Mayhem Fest is helping these guys out some. What are your thoughts, Kerry? Sons of Texas, Baptized in the Rio Grande (Razor & Tie) 200 sold A 15% boost from last week is enough to make them chart again. They’ve sold over 8,300. Like a Storm, Awaken the Fire (Another Century) This hard rock band have sold over 10,000 copies of their first album for Century. They re-enter the charts this week with a 20% increase from last week.

UPDATED article: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6642079/future-earns-his-first-no-1-album-on-billboard-200-chartFuture Earns His First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | July 26, 2015 Editor's note: This story was updated at 9:45 a.m. PT on July 28 after Nielsen Music revised its sales data. Many unit and sales figures have changed, as have some of the rankings.Future celebrates his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart as DS2 arrives atop the list. The set starts at No. 1 on the chart dated Aug. 8 with 151,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 23, according to Nielsen Music. Future also tallied his best sales week yet, as DS2 launches with 126,000 albums sold. Tyrese's Black Rose falls from No. 1 to No. 3 with 50,000 (down a moderate 35 percent in its second week). At No. 4, rock act Tame Impala scores its first top 10 with the arrival of Currents. It's the act's third full-length studio effort and it launches with 50,000 units (of which just over 45,000 are pure album sales, a career high). Tame Impala's last album, 2012's Lonerism, debuted and peaked at No. 34 (12,000 sold in its first week). It went on to sell a total of 210,000 copies in the United States. Country superstar Alan Jackson collects his 14th top 10 album as Angels and Alcohol bows at No. 5 with 48,000 units. He notched his first top 10 back in 1994 with Who I Am, which peaked at No. 5. Jason Isbell's Something More Than Free bows at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 with 47,000. It's the first top 10 for Isbell, who has previously logged three chart entries on the Billboard 200 since 2009, going as high as No. 23 in 2013 with Southeastern. Meek Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money descends 3-7 with 39,000 (down 26 percent). Rounding out the top 10 are Ed Sheeran's X (5-8 with 33,000; down 4 percent), Sam Hunt's Montevallo (7-9 with 30,000 units; up less than 1 percent) and Kidz Bop Kids' Kidz Bop 29 (4-10 with 25,000 units; down 35 percent).

What in the world is going on over at Billboard/Nielsen Music? I gather the posted Top Album Sales and Current Albums charts, then, aren't the updated one? Notice the absence of Papoose, for one, on the BB 200.

What in the world is going on over at Billboard/Nielsen Music? I gather the posted Top Album Sales and Current Albums charts, then, aren't the updated one? Notice the absence of Papoose, for one, on the BB 200. I guess the clue to look for next time. Papoose was never on the Billboard 200 (at least since I posted Tuesday) - LOL

Don't get how Lauren Daigle and MercyMe can't enter the Billboard 200 when they have songs selling more than Muse's "Drones" which is on the Billboard 200...

Don't get how Lauren Daigle and MercyMe can't enter the Billboard 200 when they have songs selling more than Muse's "Drones" which is on the Billboard 200... yep, emailed Billboard about it, they said it's an error, so the Billboard 200 will be refreshed... again (facepalm)

Once things go to print they can't refresh the chart. At some point, it is what it is.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6649426/jason-aldean-boots-one-millionBillboard 200 Chart Moves: Jason Aldean's 'Boots' Album Hits 1 Million SoldBy Keith Caulfield | July 31, 2015 Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the Aug. 8 chart: — Jason Aldean, Old Boots, New Dirt - No. 54 — Jason Aldean’s most recent album, Old Boots, New Dirt, surpasses the million-sold mark this week. The set sold another 6,000 copies in the frame ending July 23, bringing its to-date total to 1.003 million in the U.S. With the achievement, all six of Aldean’s albums have now sold at least a million copies. Old Boots, New Dirt was released on Oct. 7, 2014, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It was led by the smash single “Burnin’ It Down,” which spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. The album has also spun five more top 20 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart: “Sweet Little Somethin’” (No. 17 peak), “Two Night Town” (No. 18), “Gonna Know We Were Here” (No. 12), “Tonight Looks Good On You” (No. 6) and “Just Gettin’ Started” (No. 5). — Shawn Mendes, Handwritten – No. 21 — Back when Shawn Mendes’ Handwritten album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 (May 2-dated chart), it was a notable achievement for an artist that had yet to earn an airplay chart hit. At that point, Mendes -- who found initial fame thanks to his Vine videos -- had logged three entries on the Billboard Hot 100, but all were driven largely by streams and sales. Now, Mendes has a moderate airplay hit under his belt with the Handwritten single “Stitches,” which bullets at No. 31 on Pop Songs airplay chart (known as Mainstream Top 40 on billboard.biz) in its eighth chart week. The single concurrently rises 57-54 on the Hot 100; his second-highest charting hit (after introductory single “Life of the Party” peaked at No. 24 last year). Handwritten is feeling the impact of “Stitches,” as the album climbs 22-21 on the Billboard 200, and claiming its highest rank since its second week on the list (May 9; No. 17). Sales of the album remain mostly steady, as it generally sells between 5,000 and 6,000 copies per week.
