It's kinda funny they'd do this considering "Withdrawals" picked up those adds last week. It's like, "OK, we get it, you don't want a "rock song" by anyone other than Jason Aldean or FGL on the charts or something. That or the lyrics were deemed "too dark" by them or something...

I hate it when a label does this, all it does is make the artist look bad or takes away the momentum for that artist. I have been seeing "Withdrawals" on CMT Pure like crazy the last past week. It was doing fine even though not great on the charts. It was still a young song and wasn't really given the chance.

Okay, I did see this song get sent to radio stations (including WBEE earlier this afternoon), but I didn't start a thread because I did not see them dropping "Withdrawals" and assumed it was just a test track for those stations.
I'm shocked that Columbia would do this. I mean, I know "Withdrawals' was off to a slow start and there was reason for pessimism, but that was really quick on Columbia's part. They must have gotten some bad feedback from "Withdrawals' considering the promotion they had already put into it (including a new music video) for the short time it was out.

I don't know what to say. The fact that they pulled "Withdrawals" really gets me mad. Especially when they're doing it to push one of the worst songs on the album.

I only want the songs to do well so we can see I don't even want this beer get released. But Withdrawals deserve so much more than what it got

Yikes, I must admit that I never listened to this song until now. This is just plain bad. I wasn't a huge fan of "Withdrawals" but my goodness. I'm in awe that country radio (or anybody really) clamored for this song instead. If you're going to pull a song, can the replacement be somewhat original? I mean, I know mediocrity usually rises to the top at country radio but good grief. The lyrics sound like something my 15 year old nephew would write.
"We ain't gotta worry 'bout gettin' dirty We can do whatever we want Baby, put your Luccheses on You know you want to 'Cause we got a full moon And it's Friday night Girl, you got me so hooked Ain't nothin' ever looked better in boots"
There's literally nothing remotely interesting about this song. Knowing Tyler, we'll have to endure a 40 week climb with it though.

YEP, it's definitely official as this was in my email from Country Aircheck Weekly tonight.

...Tyler finally had a song I really liked from him starting to climb and now he's back with a horrible song again...guess it was too good to be true.

terrible, this is the worst song on the album. if they pulled withdrawls why not release the duet with aldean? They would need permission from Broken Bow for that to happen and perhaps they weren't keen on Sony releasing "Damn Good Friends" at this current time -- which jhomes87 and rsmatto brought up in the "Withdrawals" thread.

terrible, this is the worst song on the album. if they pulled withdrawls why not release the duet with aldean? As was discussed in the "Withdrawals" thread, Broken Bow (Jason's label) would need to give permission to Sony (Tyler's label) if Sony wanted to release "Damn Good Friends". My guess is that Broken Bow was perfectly fine with Jason singing the song with Tyler, but from the start I think they probably told Sony that they would only consent to a release of "Damn Good Friends" if Jason didn't have one of his own songs on the chart at the same time.

That ad: "2:56. Tempo. Fun." Man, country radio is gonna eat this up.

Pissed. The best song on that album and they drop it. What does it say about this song if I don't even remember it. I listened to this album once but remember a good deal of songs, not this one. Really sucks.

Yea I guess I just assumed the duet was getting released when he and Jason in a pic together showed support for the marines killed here in chattanooga and hearing they dropped withdrawals. Oh well

Bleck @ this song. I find this whole scenario kind of hilarious though that they panicked this early on with the slow start of "Withdrawals" and that ad just shows their desperation ("like hey look it's a fun uptempo song guys, you're favorite!!1!1). I hope this torpedoes the momentum of this era and this one doesn't turn into a hit either. "Withdrawals" did nothing for me, most because it was Tyler Farr singing it, but at least it was a halfway-decent song by his low standards. But oh well, I don't like him at all so none of this mess really bothers me anyway.

While I hate to see withdrawals time on the chart ended so early, I think "better in boots" is one of the best songs on the record as far as radio AirPlay options. I hope this sees a lot of success and fairs a little better.

I feel like this reeks of Tyler wanting a song like "Withdrawals" released (he seems to want to distance himself as best he can from the bro-themes) and when it started moving slowly the label was almost like, "Yep, we told you, now it our turn to pick a song...which one screams Luke Bryan-lite?". Smh, I actually have no problem with this song, but I would rank it and "C.O.U.N.T.R.Y" as the bottom two songs on the album.

Is this some kind of cruel joke? Like, what the hell is the point of this? "Withdrawals" was still young, and now they pull it for some third rate FGL ripoff?
Don't even see this being much of a hit. Not predicing top 10.

Not predicing top 10. Withdrawals was doing a great job barley scrapping the top 50 wasn't it? Other than that I agree with you it still had some miles left in it. Another place I disagree is, I don't see this as a third rate fgl song but more one in the wheelhouse of Justin Moore rather. Either way I like the song I think it sounds great.

They seriously ditched "Withdrawals" for this?? No thanks. I'm no fan of Tyler Farr, but at least I could listen to "Withdrawals" on the radio and go, 'man that's a good song.' This one... not so much. Don't really care for it and Farr's vocals make it especially grating for me. I honestly don't know how this one will do, but I would personally be more than happy with it underperforming.

This sucks..I was really starting to like this and just cuz a song isn't doing so well in the beginning doesn't mean it's time to panic..look at "One Hell of An Amen" and "Love You Like That" they're monstrous hits now and they started very slow! Also really wish it was either "Damn Good Friends" or one I really could've seen was "Criminal" easily a hit in my opinion!

Like most others have mentioned, I really enjoyed "Withdrawls". However, I'm surprised at all the negative feedback "Better In Boots" is getting. I dunno, maybe I'm just old but I'm not one of these people that feels as though every single song released to radio has to be something with deep meaning and powerful lyrics. I understand that what Pittenger and Wilson wrote is FAR from a lyrical masterpiece, but I'm also wise enough to take this song for what it is and enjoy that.

I think it's more so the disappointment of "Withdrawals" being pulled by a lot of users who liked the song when it still had life in it. Take a diamond and place it next to silver, sure silver is great on it's own but if you've shown me the diamond, I'm not really going to be to happy when you pull it away and leave me with silver.

I find this song uninteresting in every way possible. Yes the lyrics are unoriginal and eye roll inducing, but the melody, instrumentation and production do little to compensate for it, and Tyler's vocals certainly don't add anything for me personally to look past the previously mentioned factors.
I actually enjoyed "Redneck Crazy" and "Whiskey In My Water", so I'm not one to criticize Tyler with every song he puts out (based on his raspy vocals) but "Better In Boots" is just plain bad IMO, and the fact "Withdrawals" was pulled for it makes it even worse.
