Out of all the "big four" grunge albums, I find it the worst, and although it was influential and definitely altered musical history, quality-wise it just doesn't live up to its reputation personally. Agree that In Utero is a lot better. What are the other three? I assume "Ten" by Pearl Jam is one. Is "Dirt" one? "Core"? Nevermind, Ten, Dirt and Superunknown

Submitted mine. Since I'm not exactly a fan; I didn't jump on their two biggest hits like pigs on mudd. Rather I set high, the songs I really like the guitar work on. "Dumb", "In Bloom"(coulda been a Weezer song), and one of the best covers in rock history.

Just submitted mine.
8 from Nevermind 2 from MTV Unplugged in New York
If we had a Top 15, three would have been from In Utero and two from Bleach all from 11-15.

Very pleasantly surprised to see my #1, Lithium, take the top. Heart Shaped Box, In Bloom, and Dumb are a tad overrated tjough. The Man Who Sold The World being that high is really cool too.
But honestly I can't wait for the next artist...

"The Man Who Sold The World" at #3! Above "Teen Spirit"!! That's really cool. Pretty solid results overall, too. Kind of expected "Lithium" to be #1 if "Teen Spirit" wasn't.
Bring on Deftones! Toughest non-Muse vote for me, but I think that I have a top 10 ready.

I was rooting for "Heart-Shaped Box" on top, but "Lithium" works too.
I like 9 Deftones songs. Wouldn't kill me to find a tenth one...
EDIT: Forgot about Passenger, gotta include that one. That makes 10!

Pleasantly shocked by the results, expected Teen Spirit to be the overwhelming #1. also Come As You Are only #7 another good surprise. Oscar method: 1 Heart Shaped Box 3+1+2+3 2 Lithium 3+1+3+1 3 All Apologies 3+1+1=>0+Lithium+Heart+Heart+Heart 4 Smells Like Teen Spirit 3+0=>Lithium+Heart+Lithium 4 The Man Who Sold the World 3+0=>AllApologies+Lithium+Heart 6 Rape Me => Heart Shaped Box 6 About a girl => All Apologies 6 breed => Lithium

As a song, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" was a good one to introduce Nirvana, but they kept Def Leppard, Warrant, Motley Crue and Whitesnake from #1 position on MTV's TRL, so you know, I could never really accept it. Their cover of David Bowie's "The Man Who Sold The World" on the other hand, was grade A music on all levels

Those bands were already on the way out in 1991. If Nirvana didn't come along to define the '90s rock sound, then someone else would have.

Never been much of a Nirvana fan, but "Lithium" is easily my favorite song of theirs.
"Heart-Shaped Box" and "The Man Who Sold The World" are stellar as well.

Exactly, it's like saying "Pumped Up Kicks" knocked out Daughtry and Nickelback on pop when they were already on their way out. For me; all that meant was a big regression on the charts. Pop charts turned into autotune EDM breeding grounds and all the color, fun and hairspray was sucked out of Rock charts.

It's time for the Deftones vote, and it's a good thing that they filled the slot this week because our voting was tied at the halfway point between Pearl Jam and Silversun Pickups. Remember, The results from this ballot will combine with the results of the last ballot to determine our 20th artist after Deftones gets their vote. Death Cab For Cutie only received three votes and dropped off the ballot, to be replaced by The Black Keys with their first attempt. Waiting on the edge for their chance are Death Cab For Cutie, The Cure, 311, System Of A Down, and The White Stripes.
Here are the standings at the halfway point:Pearl Jam - 7 Silversun Pickups - 7 David Bowie - 6 blink-182 - 6 Radiohead - 5 Jimmy Eat World - 4 Coldplay - 4 INXS - 4 The Cars - 4 Death Cab For Cutie - 3Here's the link to the Deftones ballot!Voting closes Thursday, April 28th at Midnight EST. Thanks for your participation!

Naturally, this would've been very difficult if I hadn't already done a Deftones list. Even so it still was difficult as I dropped "Rivière" off the list after 3 years. So many other stellar songs were left out that I feel deserve mention. Of course "Change" is a big one and seeing as that's guaranteed to be the #1, it's in my top 15 but not my top 10. Other popular songs like "Diamond Eyes", "Swerve City" and "Hole In The Earth" also narrowly missed, residing in my top 20. A couple personal favorites of mine such as "What Happened To You?", "Elite" and "Cherry Waves" also just missed it. All in all, I truly believe this to be the greatest ten songs that Deftones have released in their prestigious, storied career. Every album besides Adrenaline has representation.
Around the Fur: 1 White Pony: 2 Deftones: 1 Saturday Night Wrist: 1 Diamond Eyes: 2 Koi No Yokan: 2 Gore: 1
Anyways, who can guess my #1?

Thank goodness I had a top ten put together for this in advance, because it took FOREVER to whittle it down to ten. What most surprises me is how FEW songs made my top ten from DE and KNY. Just one each. A lot of songs from those albums were in the 11-30 range or so, though, along with self-titled and WP. Also, I imagine that the one song I chose from Gore is the exact same as Lord's. And it isn't hard to guess which one I chose. 2 from Around the Fur2 from White Pony2 from Deftones1 from Saturday Night Wrist1 from Diamond Eyes1 from Koi No Yokan1 from Gore

Also gotta give an honorable mention to "Lovers", a track released as a B-side that really should've been the title track to their self titled album because it's so good.

This was a really tough vote because Deftones are definitely in my top 5 favorite bands of all time. "Change (In The House Of Flies)" narrowly missed my list, as did two new songs from Gore.
2 from Around The Fur 1 from White Pony 2 from Deftones 2 from Diamond Eyes 2 from Koi No Yokan 1 from Gore

I had more trouble coming up with 10 Deftones songs that I like than I thought would have...I guess I'm not too familiar with them, but I don't really have the motivation to listen to their whole discography, though I'm sure my list would have more deep cuts if I did.
I have 2 from Around the Fur, 4 from White Pony, 1 from Deftones, 2 from Saturday Night Wrist, and 1 from Koi No Yokan.

i had no idea that they did so many cool covers of 80s artists including 2 DD songs (& even a Sade song!)...a full half of my list consists of covers while i had one song each from each of their official studio albums (except for Deftones & Diamond Eyes)

I didn't know they had a cover of "Ghosts" by Japan in there too and that song just feels tailor made for them. Could end up voting for a lot of these covers but have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe one of the next rock tournament games could be a cover competition Daryl the Beryl ? :).
