It'll be interesting to see how high this one can climb. I guessed a #5 peak in the recent Predict the Peaks thread :) On a related note, Rascal Flatts has announced a summer tour, the Rhythm And Roots Tour, which will kick off June 17 in Charlotte, NC. The opening acts will be Kelsea Ballerini and Chris Lane. Tour dates are listed on Rascal Flatts' website. Not sure why they chose Chris Lane as a opening act. He isn't even that great of a singer. I'm glad they picked Kelsea Ballerini though. I'm sure some arrangement was made between Chris' label (Big Loud Records) and Rascal Flatts and their label (Big Machine). New artists securing these opening slots on big tours is essential, especially for someone who has a debut single approaching the top 20. It's not as if Rascal Flatts heard Lane's songs and went "That's great. Book him now to be our opening act...done!" Rascal Flatts and Kelsea Ballerini don't exactly play "traditional" leaning Country (for the most part), so Chris' pop music (marketed as Country) shouldn't be a problem on their tour.

Billboard peaks for the Rewind era singles
Rewind: 3 Payback: 21 Riot: 20 I Like the Sound of That: 9 (so far)
I'm glad Rascal Flats was able to reestablish some momentum with radio after the performance of the last two singles. I was worried about how ILTSOT would do just because the last two singles bombed and hurt their momentum. "Payback" was a terrible single choice but "Riot" was okay. Hopefully they can take this momentum into the next album era.
I didn't realize this until I started typing this up but all the singles from Rewind were just one word until "I Like the Sound of That".

Heck, Chris Young's current duet should be with RF. Makes the line "When they think of me they think of you" have a whole new meaning. Could form a new group: The Young Rascals.

Yeah, I think most of these are set up by the label heads, although, I imagine Kelsea had several big names after her. Rascal Flatts probably giving her the middle slot, and thus more playing time, probably sealed the deal. I think this tour would be great. I know I am the minority but I enjoy Chris Lane's music. As sabre14 stated, all of these artists are pop leaning so it could help both Kelsea and Chris attact new fans because Rascal Flatts, while on their tail end of their radio career (most likely) are very popular on the touring circuit.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that tour arrangements have more to do with entertainment companies such as Live Nation and AEG Live, as well as artist managers and booking agents, and less to do with record labels. I mean, I'm sure many record labels have staff whose job is to work with folks from entertainment/booking/touring companies, and the headliners definitely have some say in who opens for them, but for the most part I don't really think it's up to the record labels themselves to set up and arrange tours and things like opening acts.

When Rascal Flatts releases singles like this one and Rewind that sound like prime Rascal Flatts, they do well. When they release the other Dann Huff-led garbage, they don't do well. It's now hard. These guys have a wheelhouse and when they're in it, they're great. When they stray from it, it's usually disastrous.

I meant singles from previous eras, which I should have clarified. Payback was really the worst choice from the new album IMO, so I didn't really understand why they made it the second single. I thought Riot was a really good standard Rascal Flatts tune that deserved to do better than it did, but Payback pretty much killed it before it even got started. This album, even though it isn't that great, is a step up from their last few IMO.

The success of this is astonishing to me. I know it had some help in the beginning, but I fully expected this to peak around #25. I can't believe that it's in the top 10, and could possibly be making the top 5 in a couple weeks.

Is this week the push week for this song? It's been having some outrageous gains the past few days, over 1 million total gain in audience both today and yesterday. None of the other songs in the top 10 are even gaining half that amount.

None of the other songs in the top 10 are even gaining half that amount. It could be a final push week (for a top 5 finish) but it could also spell Big Machine going for a two week type push (ala "Backroad Song"). Its clear though that "I Like The Sound Of That" won't last past next weekend since its gains have been 685 spins and 5.0 million in audience over the past five days -- that's some sort of final push for certain -- the numbers are just too great. I think Big Machine wants this song to peak as fast as possible, since the label group has three of the top six songs in the Mediabase top 5 and "I Like The Sound Of That" is the oldest of the three, so its not surprising they want this chart run to end sooner rather than later.

I don't get why they wanna rush this. Rascal Flatts can just wait out FGL, Brett and Cole, since the next closest threat is Old Dominion and/or Chase Bryant. But both of them are really far behind.

They probably see an opportunity to get "I Like The Sound Of That" a desirable peak for them (whether its top 5 or #1) and they have the time and resources to do it. Both "You Should Be Here" and "Drunk On Your Love" are strong candidates for two week stay at #1 and I didn't see Rascal Flatts being able to wait 4 weeks or so, which is probably the minimum amount of time they would have had to wait out the other singles in front of them. I'm not surprised by the lofty gains for this song, this week.

While I do agree that Cole Swindell will probably spend a couple of weeks (I could see him blocking Brett Eldredge as it appears "Drunk On Your Love" will only last at most 3 more weeks thank you CCUSA co-hosting schedule). Then there is me wondering also how much longer FGL will last especially since they'll probably be debuting a new song ACM Time

That'd make sense. But now I'm wondering when is Brett Eldredge going to make his move to the top, because I believe he will push for the top next week as well. If there is one artist who is sitting pretty it's Cole Swindell, his songs the youngest testing well and it doesn't look like the label, has yet to schedule him for CCUSA (I imagine that he will since he has a new album). If there is another thing it looks like not this next week but the following week will be Chase Bryant's push week so he's another factor in the next few weeks.

It'll be refreshing to see something get a final push just to peak in the Top 5 and then be let go, and not have to fall in line for a turn at the top and/or be pushed a miraculous amount to secure a #1 peak. That said, I love this song and think it's far better than anything else looking to hit the top till probably Maren Morris.

This song is riding the Meghan Trainor and Shay Mooney train and that's a good train to be riding. This song should make it to #1 in the next couple weeks. Florida Georgia Line will stop at #2 or #3. Cole and Brett are the only 2 I see going #1 before this song. RF should get at least 1 week at the top then be knocked out by Maren Morris' "My Church".

I think this week is the week for "I Like The Sound Of That" to hit the top. They are within striking distance, they should pass Cole Swindell and ZBB since one will be dropping and the other one will probably not hit the top for a little bit. They're is one problem "Drunk On Your Love" which I imagine will be pushed to the top this week and next week. I just don't see Rascal Flatts managing to wait out anywhere from 3-5 weeks to hit the top. They have to make the push this week.

I've heard this more times on the radio the past couple of weeks than I have in the six or seven months of its release. The local stations here in Austin just haven't been playing it much up until what seems like a push by their label to get this to the top. I was a big fan of "Riot" and was surprised it didn't perform better; I'm even more surprised this song is doing as well as it has.

I wonder if they will release a fifth single or not. If they do release, I hope it is 'DJ Tonight'.

I'm sure this will be it for the era. I imagine they have to have some new music ready to go either already or coming up soon now that it's been two years since the release of Rewind.
