Just finished reading the interview. I'm glad she took the time off to focus on herself and her needs. I can imagine that it would have been extremely hard to focus on the tour and giving it her all while going through the divorce.

When I first started in the business, I came out and worked with Francis Ford Coppola, with Steven Soderbergh, and my record goes straight to number one. All of this stuff was happening and then, all of a sudden, they started criticizing me and you’re like, “Wait, what? That’s not true. That’s not who I am.” And so, right away—and it’s this thing of being young— you’re resilient and optimistic. Things haven’t really quite knocked you all the way on your ass yet. I was like, “I know who I am when I lay my head down at night and that’s what matters.” And that stuck with me, and that’s always, again, that little girl inside of you who so deserves credit and comfort and joy. Life beats you down as you go, and then you have to always go back and connect to that innocent, optimistic, bright-eyed person that you were when you started out. That is something I always had, and I was able to survive those tough moments of a long career where things go up and down, where everybody loves you and then everybody’s jumping on you, and then everybody loves you. That happens if you have a long career.

GLASER: I would die. I was so sad about your tour. I was ready to go to multiple cities, so I will be there when it’s back on.

LOPEZ: I can’t wait to get back out there. I have the most understanding and loving fans in the world. Some fan bases can be spicy. Mine are just a bunch of lovers. I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life. And I’m glad I did, because it was a really difficult time for me. Probably the hardest time of my life, but it was also the best time because I got to do that work on myself.

GLASER: I’m really glad that you had that time.

LOPEZ: I appreciate it and say thank you to everybody for understanding that, and I’ll be out there entertaining you and shaking my ass sooner than you know.

Ah I sooo remember the Brave era. I loved it! We were all crazy for "Mile In These Shoes"! My personal favs were "Do It Well" and "Brave" tho. I loved "Loubotins" as well, stage fall and all that came after. I was definitely fanning around that time for Jennifef after she got me re-hooked with the iconic "Get Right" and subsequent FIRE choreo (that Today Show performance comes to mind with the black outfit) and "Lose Control" was also my jam back then even tho most hated it. lol

Ah, that performance. *chefs kiss*. It was 8 am in the freezing cold in NYC and she didn't miss a beat. Today's artists don't know this work ethic!.

Perfect performance! Her choreo from "Get Right" is her most iconic IMO. AND yeah and tbh I'm tired of all the "she can't sing" and "it isn't even her voice on "Play" or her other hits" and I'm like, people are really out here playing. I'm not saying Jennifer has an amazing voice, but her actual live voice DOES sound like the voice on the recordings of her hits so I don't know why people have to exaggerate and act as if she sounds NOTHING like herself just because she left some vocals on the tape along with hers to dub it up like so many others and they just hate her guts. If you're gonna hate, at least be accurate with it. Now she didn't vocally sound like Selena, but I couldn't differentiate between her and Ashanti in some of those vocals and that's the truth.
