Most of the 90s and 00 divas will likely last for awhile. They are showing longevity. I don't expect the 10s divas to last as long. 1959 Diana Ross (including The Supremes) 1963 Cher 1982 Madonna 1986 Janet Jackson 1987 Kylie Minogue 1990 Mariah Carey 1991 Celine Dion 1995 Shakira (including her Spanish career) 1997 Jennifer Lopez 1998 Beyonce (including Destiny's Child) 1998 Britney Spears 1999 Christina Aguilera 2000 P!nk 2003 Kelly Clarkson 2005 Rhianna 2005 Carrie Underwood 2006 Taylor Swift 2007 Katy Perry 2008 Lady Gaga That list is filled with huge names that left a big mark in the industry. I'm not sure this current decade has had a female act that belongs in that list. When people say the VMAs have been boring, I don't think it's entirely their fault as much as the options they have. No wonder that the best performances seem to be Vanguard Awards, when they can get "old-school" acts to show up. I really think an argument could be made for Arianna to be on that list for the current decade

Out of the new girls, I hope Miley is the one that lasts.

Miley is so in outside looking in. I wouldn't include her on that list imo. She isnt even on Pink level. She is a B star and those folks plus Arizona Grand are A stars.

It just doesn't hold up to previous decades...

Adele?
I think Dua Lipa might join the list if she's able to have a successful second era. She already has the stats internationally.
JLo is an amazing business woman, great dancer, a capable singer and a decent actress. I think her acting career gets a lot of crap because she has terrible taste when it comes to picking roles. Is she the best actress or singer? No. But she's definitely made a mark on the industry.

I wonder how much of her 'bad' decisions were actually a reflection on her having terrible taste for picking roles. Being a Latina woman, I can't imagine many great roles being offered to her to begin with, especially with Hollywood insisting on casting white actors like Angelina Jolie, Juliette Binoche, Jennifer Connelly, Carey Mulligan, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Meryl Streep, (...) in so many great female Latino roles in the past 20 years

But yeah, specially post-pregnancy she probably wasn't getting many offers (hence why she came back with something like The Back-Up Plan).

Jennifer can hold a note and stay in tune. She also knows how to use with that she’s got. You don’t need 5 octaves to prove you’re a talented singer. Is she a power house? No. But she can sing live and dance at the same time which says a lot considering some powerful vocalists lip every chance they get. I can hold a tune as well

She has said she would go up for those more meatier roles only for them to always give it to the white actresses. That’s always been the case for WOC.

Hollywood also has problem typecasting black, latino and asian actresses into specific roles. She also got typecasted as only having the range to do romantic comedies and once in that bubble it's hard to escape. Look at Jennifer Aniston career roles.🥴

I love how she’s eating pizza 🍕 while shifting through 1000’s of dollars worth of clothes. Goals 😩. Also her crying at the reviews 😭. I’m so happy for her!.

Just saw Hustlers she was really good and definitely deserves all the recognition. The only thing is Constance Wu, after seeing the film I remembered Angelina Jolie (Girl Interrupted).

FRIDAY AM BOX OFFICE UPDATE:
STXfilms's Hustlers is off to a fantastic start, bringing in an estimated $2.5 million from Thursday night previews. The performance outperformed Girls Trip, which took in $1.7 million from during previews ahead of a $31.2 million opening as well as ahead of the $2 million Bad Moms took in ahead of a $23.8 million opening in 2016. Our third pre-weekend comp was last year's Ocean's Eight, which brought in $4 million from previews ahead of a $41.6 million opening, which keeps Hustlers well on track to live up to our forecast.

Some friends are seeing this tonight and I’m tempted to go again! The whole cast was fantastic and they all had their moment and made the audience laugh

I thought it was all jokes and underdog rooting but 👀👀 I've not seen this kind of positive reception from varied sources for a JLO project ever. Literally everyone is on the bandwagon for #jlo Oscars buzz. The hype is real. Good on a bunch of women of color coming out from nowhere tho. Gotta see it for myself.

Forgot to carry this over from the movie thread! You J Lo stans should be going to the most expensive bar and buying the finest drink in celebration of your girl. She DID IT!
Hustlers. Ya know...at first, I thought Constance Wu was gonna Jennifer Hudsonize poor J.Lo. It was certainly going that way. I was shocked at her range. But, then La Lopez turned on the magic. Also, that was a star-making performance from Lily Reinhart, but seriously, everyone (Keke Palmer, Julia Stiles, Cardi B, and Lizzo) did a great job. But, yeah...Jennifer Lopez's Ramona is iconic and this was her movie. She deserves all of the accolades. I have NEVER seen her act like this. Even her stripping was masterful and she didn't have much time to learn! She was sweet, tender, tough, resolved, and thuggish-ruggish. Reminded me so much of Taraji P. Henson playing Cookie. Be proud of your Queen, stans. I have ZERO problem eating crow on this. #OscarForJLo #paidforbyJLo #jkgirl

Out of the new girls, I hope Miley is the one that lasts. You absolutely have to include Ariana Grande, Adele, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Rey - I'd even say Amy Winehouse. Future contenders could be Normani, Camilla, Dua Lipa, Kacey Musgraves
