Y’all are exhausting! Jennifer is not a hack and she’s maintaining a thriving career in a notoriously ageist, sexist industry (as most of them are) - off the strength of new ventures at that, not just being trotted out to fill a nostalgia act quota - and I think that alone is worth celebrating. How many female entertainers of today will be able to say the same over the next few decades? Hell, how many of them are well-rounded entertainers to begin with? (Like for real for real, I think of some of the other hoes that have rabid stans on here and I can’t even imagine what they’ll be accomplishing in 5-10 years, let alone decades). I’ll root for Jenny as hard as I continue to root for Mariah and Madonna and others of their ilk that continue to forge their own paths, extend their legacies over rehashing past glories, and flourish on their own levels in spite of how their relevance and talent may be perceived. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Agree . Contrary to belief I have nothing against her. I enjoyed her Murder Inc days, Jenny from the Block and her first song Living for Tonight. Only criticism would be her featuring pitbull. She is unproblematic and I love my old bitches.❤ Hey! I love that Lambada song she and Mr. Worldwide did together! That might actually be the last song of hers I loved, back when I drank 4Lokos and hung out with 23 yr old fist pumpers LOL. As for unproblematicness...I will never forget her thinking it was cool to drop the N word in a song just because Latin rappers thought it was cool to do as well but that was a blip on her radar all things considered. Just didn't sit well with me. I might go pull up some old YouTube videos now!

Jenny has bops for days and her vocal capabilities have always been limited but they have certainly improved with time.
And I truly don't believe in comparisons but is there ANYONE that can be perceived as a potential successor to Jennifer? I mean honestly (and if you say Selma or Karla, I will find a way to get you permabanned).

I always felt Ciara was more JLO than Janet but currently? The closet has to be Carmelo Cantbelto. She seems to want to fill that role and her celebrity relationship with Shawn, fashion, vocals and dancing . Cant think musically of many that aim to fill that role. Most of the pop girl these days including Carmelo don't have the personality or a ability to hold our imagination between album cycles much less 20 years from now

I don't think it's enough Autotune and Spanish guitars in the world to keep Karla afloat that long either. Plus can she even act? I've seen stan Twitter champion Gummybears but Disney shows and 1-octave pop jams do not longevity equal. And I know dancing ability isn't a requirement these days but who can even handle a basic 8-count outside of Tinashoe and Normani (who is gonna have enough of an uphill climb battling Beyonce and Rihanna comparisons for possibly forever)?

I'm telling you these new girls are basic and have no PERSONALITay! They cant even carry a interview much less speak. Bland.
Normani is our savior but even she doesnt have a voice on radio that is distinct and dont know enough about her personality yet. Say what you want but I know JLo or Madonna or Brandy even when I dont know the song, when I hear them and I love Normani .

DEATH at tennis shoe and those other aliases I don’t care to figure out. God I miss TLP.
Anyway, J. Hud is the only singer/actress that potentially has the hustle J. Lo has. I put my bets on her.

We brought up too many other pop acts. I have theory we are dying for those types of old school personality who were themselves which has helped the likes of Cardi and Lizzo but that's for another thread.

I always say that I’m so happy to have been born in a time to still see and enjoy Madonna, Janet, Whitney and Mariah through big eras years after their debut and experience the new set of pop girls with Britney, Jenny, Christina etc. I got the best of both worlds.

I don't expect the 10s divas to last as long. 1959 Diana Ross (including The Supremes) 1963 Cher 1982 Madonna 1986 Janet Jackson 1987 Kylie Minogue 1990 Mariah Carey 1991 Celine Dion 1995 Shakira (including her Spanish career) 1997 Jennifer Lopez 1998 Beyonce (including Destiny's Child) 1998 Britney Spears 1999 Christina Aguilera 2000 P!nk 2003 Kelly Clarkson 2005 Rhianna 2005 Carrie Underwood 2006 Taylor Swift 2007 Katy Perry 2008 Lady Gaga

I'm not sure this current decade has had a female act that belongs in that list. When people say the VMAs have been boring, I don't think it's entirely their fault as much as the options they have. No wonder that the best performances seem to be Vanguard Awards, when they can get "old-school" acts to show up.

For JLo it was when she released Selena in 1997. For Janet it was when she released Control in 1986.

If you love the aging divas, you gotta give Ms. Ross some love too. Before all those women you mentioned there was the one and only Ms. Diana Ross: The comments from the video are fun to read: As hard as it may be to believe, in 1979, Diana took this entire show one the road, performing in many cities. Orchestra, dancers, background choir, movie screens and all. It was earthshaking to see live. Due to the large dimensions of the stage, they tended to set it up in sports arenas versus auditoriums. Back in those days, if you liked the newer songs on the set list (The Boss, No One Gets the Prize, I Ain't Been Licked, It's My House, All for One), you had to run out and buy the new vinyl album (The Boss). And everyone did, immediately! It's no wonder she was topping the charts back then.

“Modest talent” in this business doesn’t get you a career for almost 30 years. Oh? It doesn't. Poor Madonna is just gonna be erased like that, huh? But, that is pretty funny that you feel that way or that you are speaking like some showbiz vet but, stan on, sis!

Only our Queen could cause panties to bunch up like this. She stays winning. Glad the haters still offer some respect at least.
I can understand questioning her output at times (although I couldn’t disagree more), but to question her talent in ANY of her triple threat categories, I just won’t have it.

You don’t need 5 octaves to prove you’re a talented singer. Is she a power house? No. But she can sing live and dance at the same time which says a lot considering some powerful vocalists lip every chance they get.

As for the rest of your post, you can throw your little shade anytime you want, but the truth remains that we are discussing objective facts here and you chose to be salty instead.

I stan my favs and I go hard for them as well, but I can also be an objective observer and I would never say my fav is a naturally talented actress when I know she's clearly not.

Just discovered I can block users on here and not see their posts! This is gonna make my experience on Pulse a lot more pleasant.
Love the dance video with Fallon and all the interviews we’ve been getting since the premiere of Hustlers! I think I’m gonna catch the late screening tomorrow! So excited!
