Man, how long can Brad's #1 streak last. Look like him and Carrie are having a fearce battle to see who can have the most #1 hits in a row.

Billboard Chart Alert: • Jessica Simpson's first country album, "Do You Know," starts with 65,000 and earns a No. 4 debut on the Billboard 200 and rings the bell at No. 1 on Top Country Albums. The set was preceded by the single "Come On Over," which peaked at No. 18 on Hot Country Songs in August. Simpson's last album, "A Public Affair," debuted and peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in 2006 with 101,000. It spent nine weeks on the chart. • On Hot Country Songs, Taylor Swift's "Love Story" flies in at No. 25, the highest debut by a female act since Carrie Underwood's "So Small" entered at No. 20 in Aug. 2007. "Love Story" is the first single from Swift's second album, "Fearless," due Nov. 11 ... Her self-titled debut album spawned five top 10 hits on the Hot Country Songs chart: "Tim McGraw" (No. 6), "Teardrops on My Guitar" (No. 2), "Our Song" (No. 1), "Picture to Burn" (No. 3) and "Should've Said No" (No. 1). • Speaking of Carrie Underwood, she collects her eighth consecutive official single on Hot Country Songs as "Just a Dream" skips from No. 11 to No. 8. It's the fourth single from "Carnival Ride," following the No. 1 hits "So Small," "All-American Girl" and "Last Name."

wow, what little highlights this week :( I was thinking the same thing. What about the "Breaker"? Maybe there weren't any this week. There were 6 last week, so I wonder if radio stations added less songs this week since many of them would've added at least 4 last week (Taylor, Sugarland, Brad/Keith & RF).

I looked back a ways, to earlier in the decade, but didn't see a similar timeframe yielding this many charttoppers. There were eleven in a 17-week stretch last year, from Tim's Last Dollar to Kenny's Never Wanted Nothing, but Kenny ended up with a five-week stay afterward.

Billboard Chart Alert• Hootie & the Blowfish frontman Darius Rucker debuts at No. 1 on Top Country Albums and No. 5 on the Billboard 200 with "Learn to Live" (60,000). It's the second week in a row we've seen a singer from another genre cross over and hit No. 1 on the Country Albums chart, following last week's penthouse debut of Jessica Simpson's "Do You Know" . . . Rucker also celebrates another No. 1 this week as well. On Hot Country Songs, his single "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" has hit the top.

I'm glad to see Carolina Rain make it back, although it's likely temporary, but I was really hoping that Randy Travis could sneak on. Gary Allan will debut next week (replacing the recurrent Swift), but if there's a 2nd spot (Aldean, Shawanda, Young, and Jewel are all possible) I'm hoping Randy can sneak on. It's been far too long since he's been on the country chart.

Billboard Chart Alert: • Tim McGraw logs his 42nd top 10 single on Hot Country Songs as "Let It Go" hops 11-9. Having first reached the top 10 bracket with "Indian Outlaw" (No. 8) in 1994, McGraw pushes closer to the mark for the most top 10s in the '90s and '00s. (George Strait leads with 54 top 10s.) "Go" is also McGraw's 24th top 10 this decade, ranking him behind only Kenny Chesney (25) among all artists in that span. "Go," the fifth single and title cut from McGraw's 2007 studio album, will be included on his "Greatest Hits 3," due Oct. 7 . . . The Louisiana native first charted exactly 16 years ago this week, when "Welcome to the Club" debuted at No. 71 on the then-75-position chart.

Just think, if they hadn't screwed up by releasing the obviously DOA, "never-a-chance-at-top-10" Kristofferson and Suspicions, instead of two other singles, he'd be ahead of Kenny's decade top 10 total. That is kind of some strange phrasing by the news blurb, of him "pushing closer to the mark" for most top 10s since 1990. With McGraw still a dozen top 10s behind George's total (and George still adding to his total), it's not like he'll be catching George any time soon. And with AJ having 48 top 10s himself during that span, McGraw's got someone else between him and George that he has to catch first.

He'd also have at least five more #1 singles; two very strong candidates for #1 singles of the year ('I've Got Friends That Do' and 'Blank Sheet Of Paper'), as well as 'Train #10' 'Whiskey And You' and 'Between The River And Me', if he hadn't whiffed on some many singles choices since 'Back When' hit #1.
I would ordinarily expect 'Let It Go' to hit #1 after Chesney and Underwood have done so, but Ms. Swift is zooming up the charts like crazy.
I hope his next single will approach 'IGFTD' or 'BSOP' in quality; he's undoubtedly still going to get the best stuff from all of Nashville's best songwriters for years to come.
Hearing some of his other smashes over the past two weekends on 'CT40' was wonderful, including 'I Like It, I Love It' (#1 single of the year in 1995) and 'Something Like That', the #1 'Power Gold cut of this decade.
I wouldn't be surprised to hear either 'Back When' or 'My Little Girl' in the very near future on 'CT40'.

I think we're going to see a major shakeup on next week's chart.
Possible recurrent songs: 1. Jimmy Wayne 2. Heidi Newfield 3. Crystal Shawanda 4. Kellie Pickler (not sure how likely this one is) 5. Taylor Swift (Should've Said No) 6. Sugarland (All I Want To Do) 7. Ashton Shepherd (although I think she'll stay on) 8. Chris Young
I think at least 5 of these songs will go recurrent. Also, all three songs in the 58-60 range (Rascal Flatts, Gretchen, Lee Brice) should fall off. That means we could see 8+ debuts/re-entries next week.
Other interesting possibilities: 1. "Chicken Fried" could move up from #19 to #11 or #12, passing Brad/Keith, Rascal Flatts, and the falling George Strait in the process. 2. Alan Jackson and Dierks Bentley should move into the top 30 in their third and fourth weeks, respectively. 3. Lee Ann Womack should re-enter the top 40, and Josh Turner/Miranda should make their top 40 debuts. 4. Eli Young Band and Jack Ingram will be looking to enter the top 40, although the debut of Brooks & Dunn's "Cowgirls Don't Cry" might keep one of them out.
Guaranteed top 60 debuts: 1. Brooks & Dunn 2. Gary Allan
Likely top 60 debuts: 1. Jimmy Wayne 2. Julianne Hough 3. Keith Anderson
Decent chance to debut: 1. LeAnn Rimes 2. Sara Evans 3. The Lost Trailers
Now let's watch Taylor Swift and Sugarland fight off recurrency...

I agree, next should bring a refreshing amount of change to the charts, especially the bottom half. I'd say 6 debuts are essentially guaranteed, a 7th is likely, and 8 is possible as well.
I agree with all of your potential debuters, but don't count Randy Travis out, as he might finally make it on next week. He's been gaining ok the last few weeks and had the most chart cut audience of any song not yet on the chart at the start of the week. He'll certainly be passed by many (B&D, Gary, Julianne, Jimmy will all certainly pass him), but if he can hold a few of the others, he's got a shot.

I like weeks like this where big shakeups take place. I wonder if there's a chance that Trisha Yearwood re-enters. Probably not, but with 8 spots possibly opening up, there might be a hope for her.

According to Quick Cut info, Trisha only has 176k in audience. That number includes all country stations, so she's likely under 100k for Billboard.

Too bad. I hadn't checked her quick cut in a little while, so I was hoping she was still close to charting. I guess it's safe to say TCIFFAR is 100% done now.

I just thought I should add that Keith Urban will go recurrent, too. Even though R&R incorrectly lists "You Look Good In My Shirt" as charting for 19 weeks, Billboard has it at 20 weeks. R&R isn't including the week it spent on the chart 4 years ago, while Billboard is.

Nice catch someguy. Actually it is only its 19th week on R&R, because its unsolicited week came before the BB-R&R merger, but that's not going to stop BB from yanking it. That's good news, yet another opening on the chart, plus an extra T40 spot.

Oh good point. I hadn't considered the fact that it didn't chart on R&R before, so technically their weeks on column is correct. So, as of today (Saturday), it looks like Keith Urban (YLGIMS), Sugarland (AIWD), Taylor Swift (SSN), Heidi Newfield and Crystal Shawanda are guranteed to go recurrent. Jimmy Wayne most likely will, Montgomery Gentry or Zac Brown need to catch him, but I think at least one of them will pass him in spins at least, which is all they need to do.
Ashton Shepard looks safe, as does Kellie Pickler. Even though Kellie isn't really gaining, I think she'll get a grace week (like Heidi and Jason Aldean both did), unless she totally collapses in the next two days. So, 6 songs will go recurrent, and a few near the bottom will likely fall off. It should be a very interesting week.

Yep, it looks like there will be 6 recurrents in the T40, plus Chris Young for 7 total. Gretchen, Lee, and Bob That Head all are dropping at a decent rate, but I guess it's concievable that one or more of those could hang on b/c of the number of spots available. Right now, assuming that all 3 of those fall off, I think the debuters are going go something like this (this is as of Friday's MB update, I'll update it once I look at today's data)
Guarenteed spots: Brooks & Dunn (mid to low 40's) Gary Allan (mid 40's) Jimmy Wayne (high 40's to low 50's) Julianne Hough (low 50's)
Songs that should get on (these songs will probably take up the 55-58 spots on the chart): Sara Evans Lost Trailers Keith Anderson (had stalled a bit, but should still be fine) Randy Travis
The last 2 spots appear to be up for grabs, so in addition to Rascal, Gretchen, or Lee hanging on, here are the songs I think have a chance: Darius Rucker (another solid day and he should be fine) LeAnn Rimes (Friday was a nice bounceback, but she probably still needs a bit more) Kenny Chesney, Got A Little Crazy (if this song is still eligible, it has a decent chance to make it on again) Melissa Lawson (she picked the wrong time to start losing airplay, b/c it will likely cost her a chance to finally re-enter)
Several other songs might have a chance if a high percentage of their quick cuts audience is from BB stations, but it seems unlikely (Matt Stillwell, Randy Rogers Band, Dolly, Chad Hudson just to name a few).

Billboard Chart Alert: • Tim McGraw scores his 11th No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart as "Greatest Hits 3" starts with 44,000 and a No. 9 placing on the Billboard 200. McGraw issued a statement yesterday (Oct. 14) via his official Web site, voicing his displeasure with the release of the hits package. According to the statement, the artist has been working on a new studio album and wanted to release it this fall, but his record label -- Curb -- opted to issue a hits set without McGraw's involvement . . . The new "Hits" samples McGraw's catalog of work, stretching back to 1995's "Can't Be Really Gone" through to his current hit, "Let It Go," which sits at No. 6 on Hot Country Songs this week. McGraw's first "Greatest Hits," released in 2000, has shifted 5.9 million in the United States while its 2006 follow-up has shifted 2.2 million.

Talk about the rich getting richer. Kenny charted album cuts from two different albums in the same week. I don't recall that happening since I've been following the chart (excluding x-mas cd's of course).
