Somewhat of an unnecessary question, but I have to ask. If both Keith Urban and Jessica Simpson gained all of their audience (and therefore adds) this past week, and Jessica is a Breaker, and Keith is Most Added (but not marked as Breaker)... well how is it possible Keith isn't a Breaker if Jessica is, but is less added? Also, George had more adds this week than Jessica, but isn't listed as a Breaker.
Do I just not know what Breaker means?... I always thought it was when a song had been added on half of the panel...

A song achieves 'Breaker' status @ BB/R&R when it receives airplay on a minimum of 60% of the Country panel for the first time.

Do we know where Jessica Simpson is this week? Should be 35 or 36, probably 35 (but it looks as if she's close in audience to Jason Aldean).

Billboard: Jewel's first country set, "Perfectly Clear" (Valory Music Group), moves 48,000 to debut at No. 8. It also bows at the summit of Top Country Albums. Jewel's last Atlantic album, 2006's "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland," also started at No. 8.

Debuting at #8 on the all-genre Billboard 200 is not bad at all. She did, after all, debut at #1 on the Country Albums Chart.

It all depends on the sales for the week and what other releases are coming out.

Carrie Underwood claims the most consecutive No. 1s on the Hot Country Songs chart by a female artist in nearly 20 years as "Last Name" jumps 5-1 to become her fourth straight chart-topper and third consecutive from her "Carnival Ride" album. The No. 1 run -- which excludes one holiday song and one charity single not promoted to radio -- began in April 2007 with "Wasted," from her 2005 set "Some Hearts." The other songs from her current collection to reach the top were "So Small" and "All-American Girl."

She has 5 straight #1s on Billboard and 7 straight #1s on Country Radio.
For some reason, Billboard left out "Before He Cheats" from the list. Lmao.
So on Billboard it's: Jesus, Take The Wheel:#1 Don't Forget to Remember Me: #2 Before He Cheats: #1 Wasted: #1 So Small: #1 All-American Girl: #1 Last Name:#1

Even though that is the explanation of why BB said that she only had 4 consecutive #1's, the logic is faulty. Since BB does not include holiday music or album tracks in their analysis, they shouldn't start counting single releases until they are released as singles. Since "Before He Cheats" was clearly released as a single after "Don't Forget To Remember Me", the streak should be at 5 consecutive #1's for BB and 7 if you take into account both R&R and BB as DFTRM was #1 on R&R.

Yes, they did count the weeks it ran before it was released in its initial chart run. If you go and look at the 2006 #1's thread, or even the 2007 #1's thread (links on the 1st page), you will see how "old" BHC was when it got to #1, though it really only took it about 13 weeks to get to the top.

what? why should that count? if they are not counting holiday singles and other non-released songs (Charity singles) then why would they count an unreleased album cut that debuted almost a year before it was released? that does not make ANY sense. Carrie has had 5 #1 singles in a row on BB and 7 straight #1's on Country radio. and that is a fact.

Carrie has had 5 #1 singles in a row on BB and 7 straight #1's on Country radio. and that is a fact. Because the charity single was never officially released, and Billboard has NEVER counted holiday tracks in trending artists' histories. When I mean never, I mean NEVER. Not in country anyway. That's probably because only a few acts actually release Christmas songs as singles. Martina did, Brad did, and Faith Hill will, but "Do You Hear What I Hear?" was issued to radio as part of the album, not a single, and it picked up play as such.

Seems to me that what "counts" or doesn't has to do with promotion. Songs that are likely to go unpromoted -- album tracks, holiday songs -- or underpromoted -- duets, re-releases -- don't get counted.
So they're looking to count only songs that are being fully promoted by the label. And that suggests that the label's intention, including the order of release, ought to matter.
We all know what the order of radio releases was for Carrie's album. Why should a quirky decision by WGAR, one radio station in the entire country, override the order chosen by the label? Makes no sense if you're trying to measure performance in officially released songs.
By the way, if a holiday song reaches #1, or reaches the top 10, whatever you happen to be counting -- then Billboard will recognize it. Does recognize it. Same for a duet or a re-release. They just don't hold it against the artist when it falls short.

Billboard Chart Beat'LAST' SHALL BE FIRST: If you thought Carrie Underwood's "Last Name" (Arista) was moving too slowly up the Hot Country Songs chart to reach No. 1, guess again. The third single from the sophomore effort "Carnival Ride" surges 5-1, giving Underwood her sixth chart-topper in less than three years and her fourth No. 1 in a row, not counting holiday and charity releases (or to put it another way, just counting songs released on her own label and promoted to country radio). Underwood is the first solo female artist to have four consecutive No. 1s on the country survey in almost 20 years, since Rosanne Cash had a string of six No. 1 titles between 1987-89. The six Cash No. 1s all spent one week each on top. Here's a recap of those hits: "The Way We Make a Broken Heart" (1987) "Tennessee Flat Top Box" (1988) "It's Such a Small World" (1988) "If You Change Your Mind" (1988) "Runaway Train" (1988) "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party" (1989) Underwood's first three No. 1s were from her debut album, "Some Hearts." Her trio of chart-toppers from "Carnival Ride" give her three more No. 1s from one album. Before Carrie did it twice, the last solo female performer to have three No. 1s from one album was Jo Dee Messina. Her hat trick of No. 1s was: "Bye Bye," two weeks (1998) "I'm Alright," three weeks (1998) "Stand Beside Me," three weeks (1999) "Last Name" gives Underwood a 20th week at No. 1. Just counting the 18-year period that Hot Country Songs has been based on airplay information from Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems, Underwood has the second-highest total of weeks at No. 1 for a solo female artist. The only woman with more weeks at No. 1 in this time frame is Faith Hill, with 30. In third place is Messina with 15. No other solo female artist has had as many No. 1 hits as Underwood on the country chart in this century. There is a three-way tie for second place, with three No. 1s each for Hill, Messina and Sara Evans. <snip> I CAN SEE 'CLEAR' NOW: Jewel's seventh chart entry shows up on The Billboard 200 and gives the artist her first ink on Top Country Albums. "Perfectly Clear" (Valory) enters The Billboard 200 at No. 8, matching the peak position of the last Jewel album to chart, "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland," in May 2006. With the exception of a holiday album in 1999, all of Jewel's releases have cracked the top 10. Her biggest hit to date is "0304," No. 2 in June 2003. On Top Country Albums, you have all the proof you need that the country community has accepted Jewel. "Perfectly Clear" makes its entrance at No. 1. (Me: IMO, the fact that Jewel debuted at #1 on Top Country Albums isn't "all the proof need that the country community has accepted Jewel." That's a bit of faulty logic. Oh well... Fred's article, Fred's concluding statement. Personally, I just don't prefer it when a facts-based publication [or one of its leading writers] draws conclusions which I don't think are necessarily supported by the facts. Nothing against Jewel-- you can replace her name with Julianne Hough's or any other newcomer or "country visitor" who debuts at #1 and the conclusion would still be off.)
