Has anyone noticed the line that says, "we danced in the dark Neath the September stars in the pouring rain"? What the heck kind of weather is this? Are we just assuming the stars were there?

Yes, they're always there whether we can see em or not. I don't think I've ever thought about the stars over my head in a torrential downpour, though. It's just a lyric to get a rhyme with Marvin Gaye.

It would require breaking a window.

Could this song go for 5 weeks at the top or will Jason, LoCash or even Brothers Osborne be able to catch him by Monday? Also it looks like he may be releasing the single "I Feel Good" with Lunch Money Lewis to pop radio. It's getting new spins on the Hot AC chart on Mediabase.

Brothers Osborne isn't going for #1 until the week of January 17-24 (as discussed in the "Stay A Little Longer" thread). Jason Aldean is done -- he lost 88 spins and almost 600k in audience in today's Mediabase update. That's a clear signal that he's done. "Gonna Know We Here Here" has peaked at #2, blocked from the top spot by Thomas. There are also a bunch of posts in the LoCash thread from last night and today. They are the only ones who could possibly unseat Thomas this week, but they have a lot of ground to make up. We'll know more in a few days.

Jason's done as evidence by the 88 lost spins and nearly 600k in audience lost today. Brothers Osborne will push for next week, starting the 17th. That leaves LoCash. My guess is that they won't overtake Thomas this week but I don't know for certain is "I Love This Life" is done or not. Edit: jhomes87 swoops in ahead of me...again.

I guess we know what CT40's #1 song for 2016 will be already lol. I thought I saw an ad for Jana Kramer for a #1 push this week, although they still have a ton of ground to make up.

That Jana ad that mentioned the #1 was last week. The ad yesterday had no mention of a #1 push. They're going for a top 5 finish.

As sabre14 noted, Jana's team is indeed doing their "max spins" push this week, but they won't come anywhere near #1. A top 5 finish is the best they can hope for. On Billboard she's a full 14 million behind Thomas Rhett. "I Got The Boy" did manage to gain 122 spins and 1 million in audience in today's Mediabase update, but she'd have to nearly double those numbers (which are already insanely high) to come anywhere close to the top 3.

Go Thomas!!! I can't wait to see the big ad on Billboard next week touting this as Biggest Song of the DECADE!!! 5 weeks #1 would be biggest hit since "Need You Now" (which was from the previous decade).
This will certainly give Thomas and "Die A Happy Man" lots of momentum for ACM + CMA nominations. Most deserving front runner for Single of the Year at all the award shows!!

While I would put "Die a Happy Man" on the short list of tracks likely to get nominated for ACM Single of the Year, it will be up against "Girl Crush" and possibly "Burning House" at the ACMs, both of which are considerably more critically acclaimed and industry beloved while also having been tremendously impactful commercially. There is a risk of vote-splitting between the two if both "Girl Crush" and "Burning House" get nominated and that could open the door for "Die a Happy Man," but I wouldn't call "Die a Happy Man" the front-runner in the category. Looking ahead to the 2016 CMAs, "Girl Crush" will be out of the picture but "Burning House" will still be a factor, and (temporarily putting aside prospects of a Chris Stapleton nomination in the category plus one for the next Miranda Lambert single), I would once again tip "Burning House"'s prospects because its combination of critical acclaim, industry love and commercial impact will trump the pure (albeit big-time) commercial success of "Die a Happy Man."

I was just checking AllAccess and they said this about DAHM: Umm...of course it's the first single of the year to be #1 for consecutive weeks. We've only had 2 Sundays in 2016, lol. Unless they still mean 2015...in which case, that would be incredibly sad. Question for sabre14: were there any 2-week #1's on Mediabase in 2015? Seems to me like there was a new #1 every Sunday...

I'm not sabre14 but off the top of my head, Luke's "I See You" was a 2 week #1 in February of last year, as well as ZBB'S "Homegrown" getting a 2 week stay at the top in April on Mediabase.

Also, I just remembered that "Strip It Down" also managed 2 weeks at #1.

He's right jhomes87 ; stealing my thunder, lol. :) Luke's "I See You" was a two week #1 in February and "Homegrown" had a two week stay in the spring...and "Strip It Down"...but that that's it. That really is quite embarrassing though, I agree.

I guess I just find it really weird that AllAccess said DAHM is the first song to score back-to-back weeks at #1 on Mediabase this year, when we're only 2 Sundays into the year, lol. That's a #nobrainer, AllAccess!

"Die A Happy Man" continues to hold fairly steady....down 40 spins and just over 100K in AI today. But, Jason Aldean is done and now longer a threat, and LoCash are still holding in there, but not gaining much ground (down 9 spins and up just over 100K in AI). Anything can happen as it is still only Wednesday, but I think DAHM is in a pretty good position for a fifth week at this point.
I don't love the song, but I love the prospect of a 5 week #1 again, and a few songs getting top 5 peaks but not hitting #1. It's refreshing to see that.

Up another 140 spins at MediaBase. I think it's safe to say Die A Happy Man will be #1 for a fifth week at Billboard.

"Die A Happy Man" is up 140 spins over the past seven days tracking. It "lost" 13 spins and 212k in audience today. I rarely look at the bullet as it doesn't give a true indication of how a song is doing. It helps, no doubt, but the daily updates tell much more of the story than the seven day bullet does. I agree though, "Die A Happy Man" is looking good to taking both chart this week, which would mean 5 weeks at #1 on Billboard and 4 at Mediabase.

It's sad to say, but whatever he chooses next for a single will most likely be another number 1. No matter what he chooses. :( though I like this song!! :)

It appears that "T-Shirt" is the next single. KBEB in Sacramento started playing it (they never play outside-the-box songs) and the song was played on The Highway's "On The Horizon" show this weekend.

Well someone notify me when Thomas releases either The Day You Stop Looking Back or Playing With Fire. Until then well I'm going to go back to ignoring Thomas Rhett.

T-Shirt is a great follow up to Die A Happy Man. We all new it would be a single at some point and I think following up Die A Happy Man with a super upbeat tempo song like T-Shirt is a great move. This will be a massive hit.

I know I bring up how it was (in the good ole days, lol) back about 10-15 years ago but if it was 10 years ago, "Die A Happy Man" would have reached #1 on both charts this week and stayed there for 5 weeks, while Cam and Jason would have to settle for #2 or #3 peaks. In an ideal world, I would wish for that to come back -- labels are so good at playing this game now that it has become sickening to watch these chart climbs and sometimes I wonder why I'm even doing it. My point still stands for the desire to have 4-5-6 weeks #1's back but that's merely fantasy land at this point. This fantasy is becoming a reality. :) I'm not the biggest fan of this song, but I agree that it's refreshing to see a single spend 5 weeks at #1, while other songs have to settle for a #2 or #3 peak.

AllAccess is still calling this 'only' a 3-week Mediabase #1, since Country Aircheck didn't publish a chart after Thomas' first week at #1. I'm still laughing at that last paragraph about this being the first single of the year to be #1 for 3 weeks. Well, duh!! It ain't 2015 anymore!

All Access can claim whatever they want but I'm sure Valory/Big Machine will call this a 4 week #1 Mediabase single, with 5 weeks at Billboard Airplay.
I clearly recall Arista claiming 3 weeks in late 2006/early 2007 for "She's Everything" even though one of those weeks was during the Christmas freeze.
