Bieber is very likely to challenge the #1 position if 1D was able to come pretty close.

It'll be interesting to see what'll happen with Lana's single. It's #1 already on iTunes, but not by a wide margin. West Coast landed at 17 last year with 118k sales & 2.7 million streams. I think she'll get a comparable performance with this, possibly a little higher

Anyone know why Kworb's data for Demi Lovato's CFTS is so inflated?
Republic confirmed a sales total of only ~51K last week (position on Digital Songs cements that), but Kworb is reporting it as 63K. It actually ranked *behind* Uma Thurman and Photograph on the actual chart but is comfortably ahead of them on Kworb.

Kworb is not Soundscan. Kworb does estimates only. The estimate might not have been as accurate.

The only explanation is that they didn't combine the CFTS versions this week. She was comfortably ahead of Uma Thurman the whole week.

I can definitely see the possibility of Lean On going #1 in a few weeks. If Lean On continues to make gains and Cheerleader (already falling) and CFMF decrease at a fast pace, it could happen. Like many people are saying, there's not much competition out there challenging for #1. Unless an established artist has a huge debut, not much is stopping it. Plus most of the time when there are huge debuts at #1, the song can only hold that spot for one week. (Bad Blood, Part Of Me, Hold It Against Me)

If Lean On were to hit #1, it'd be the best #1 since We Found Love.

Lean On has been my favorite song all summer. It's already higher than I thought it'd go but definitely seems like a #1 song to me.

It would have to catch it on a weak week at the top of the chart. It would be the weakest number one in a long time but actually one of the better songs to get there.

A VMA performance of Lean On would really help the song but seems unlikely. Besides CFMF is being performed and will most likely be the biggest competition

It's funny how people at Pulse seem to love Lean On. Funny because it also happened last year, when most people here were obsessed with the same dance song, Rather Be.

Well both songs are enjoyable and well-crafted, it doesn't mean that people *love* them
Given the history of pop music I don't think anyone can say Rather Be is objectively a bad song.

Kworb is not Soundscan. Kworb does estimates only. The estimate might not have been as accurate. Kworb doesn't just pull some random numbers out of thin air. The estimates are extrapolations based on relative positioning, pace, etc. As you'll see from the Kworb person's own post, if CFTS was tracking 20% ahead of Uma Thurman all week, it's interesting that Nielsen says it sold 5% fewer weekly units. It's also interesting that Kworb's projections for all the surrounding songs (similar pace) were very accurate but significantly off the mark for Demi's song. The issue here isn't getting the number precisely right. It's finding out why Cool for the Summer strayed from the model that applied almost perfectly to all other songs. As an example, consider we're standing next to each other, and you're clearly a few inches taller than me. But when we get our heights measured by the doctor, my height is actually greater than yours. That wouldn't be weird? -- My post wasn't meant to complain either. It's a question for the future. Since Kworb's data shows another ~60K sales week for CFTS, should we assume it will again be 20% off?

Aren't people over that nae mae song yet? Lean on should get top 3 soon which will make up for it. I feel as though this chart is quite atrocious At the moment and in the next month or two we will actually get major songs from major artisf and the top 10 will become interesting again.

I don't get it I can't really explain, I just think it's funny to see people here agree so much on certain songs, which often happens to be dance songs, and act like their the best thing ever, and possibly "the best song to hit #1 since that other dance song". I don't know, maybe I just find it funny that out of all the good songs released in a year, most people here can root for the same ones. Maybe musical tastes here are not that different.

Musical tastes are very subjective here, but there are songs that come out every now and then that are universally praised. It doesn't mean that Pulse has a "pack" mentality, it means that one blue moon even the people with the shittiest music taste can see the light. I will add that there are A LOT of people here with shitty music taste in my eyes.

I know people here can be shitty.. but according to critics and what I know and feel, "rather be" and "lean on" are NOT EVEN CLOSE to the notch of real good songs.. I mean, they're both awkward and catchy at the most without much above them. You said they're "blue moons" right? Then no one gives any shit to any universally rave review songs like Kendrick Lamar's or some others.. If it's just pop/dance then too many pop perfection are made according to you people, "teenage dream", "style", "shake it off", "blank space", "rolling in the deep", "we are young", "somebody that i used to know", "royals", "team", "we found love", "clarity", "the hills", "earned it", "love me like you do", "shut up and dance" and of course, "can't feel my face". They are all above "a generic song called lean on" and "listening to this song and hell is the place I'd rather be.." I mean seriously? "Rather be" is claim worthy? If that's blue moon then it's literally like hell is the place I'd rather be lol

"Rather Be" is the best thing to come out of last year, so you all can deal with that.
"Lean On" is mediocre at best, though.

That song's great self-love theme is rare and wonderful and I've been moved to tears listening to that song for too many times.. Sorry to say but "rather be" made me so depressed and I really dunno why..

That's what music is supposed to do. That's why I love "Rather Be." It hits me in a way many songs just aren't capable of. Again, everyone has their own opinions on music. That's good. It means we're human. 3) How can "Rather Be" make someone depressed? It's "Rather Be," not "My Immortal."

Beyond a very broad "dance pop" classification, I don't really see "Lean On" and "Rather Be" as compellingly connected. Years & Years' "King" and Jess Glynne's own "Hold My Hand," to my ears, are far closer to the "Rather Be" lane.
I also don't see Pulse's reaction to either "Rather Be" or "Lean On" as unique or excessive. Yes, they're generally well-liked here, but they're also well-liked in general.
Reactions I'd more commonly identify as "Pulse" reactions include the undying love for Hilary Duff's "Sparks" (the song has generally good feedback, but I don't think it has icon status outside of this and maybe a few similar boards) and a greater-than-expected disapproval (at least initially) for "Honey, I'm Good," "Fight Song" and potentially "New Americana."
