Horrible. The song is a mess, it just feels like they're trying too hard to make this a hit, which I guess, you can't blame them. Meh, everyone else will probably like it and it will do well (especially seeing how well Growing Up is doing on radio rn). Surprised they skipped on the Ed feature for the actual single. I agree with the trying to hard to make it a hit but I'm going to give it some time to see if it grows on me. I also agree with the posters saying it seems to be all over the place.

They didn't have to add so many different segments to it, but I'm really liking it on first listen. The first minute sounds like something Kurtis Blow or Grandmaster Flash would have recorded in the 80's. I wish they would have subbed out the actual chorus for the mini-like chorus that goes on around the 50 second mark, and then I think we would have had a better song. But at least it's not a copycat song and tries to sound original (while paying homage at the same time).

This song is a hot mess.....but I like it. It reminds me a lot of Thrift Shop, which was another song where I went from thinking WTF to actually liking it. It's better than Growing Up, at least.

It sounds like they tried to recreate "Thrift Shop" with a dash of "Uptown Funk" thrown in. The vocalist singing the chorus is talented but besides that, everything else is terrible.

Between "Uptown Funk", "Can't Feel My Face", and now this... make it stop.
People aren't creative anymore.

This comes off way too much as trying to recreate Thrift Shop for me

It does sound like he's trying to recreate Thrift Shop, I like the sound of the song, but the lyrics are a gotdamn mess. That chorus also was jarring, but I love the vocals.
The production for this is on point tho.

Needs more cowbell.
Kidding.
The video is better than the song. Sounds like it's trying to be 3 songs at once.. An old school rap throwback, a quirkfest a la Thrift Shop, and a big epic sweeping chorus type of thing like towards the end of Can't Hold Us.
Me no likey.
Between the poor man's version of Common's Retrospect For Life and this Multple Personality Disorder soundtrack single, I'm no longer looking forward to this era.

I love that this song is taking all kinds of risky directions. I think it pays off and many will change their opinion about this song in months to come.

Rap part is quite good, but when chorus kicks out, song becomes horrible..

I'm really feeling that chorus. Eric killed it. Also, he was getting it in the video.

I really like the "Freddie Mercury-esque" singer doing the chorus on this... who's that?
The song is sort of disjointed in some parts, but it makes it different I guess... I have a feeling this will be a slow burner

This is...interesting. Leave it up to Mackelmore to make a whole song about mopeds, LOL. Anyway, the chorus with that "singer" makes me wish I didn't have ears. Was that caterwauling really necessary? Ugh. The Grandmaster Flash reference is not a coincidence as legends Grandmaster Caz, Melle Mel, and Kool Moe Dee all appear in the song.

I really like the "Freddie Mercury-esque" singer doing the chorus on this... who's that? That's Eric Nally, lead singer of the band Foxy Shazam. They had a hit on rock radio in 2012 called " I Like It."

I haven't heard this yet, but they should have just let "Growing Up" do its thing on CHR lol IT's already #36... should have held off on this for a couple weeks. Let them premiere it on SNL closer to the album and Ed should have performed it with them on the VMAs and with tori kelly.

That was such a chore to get through. It's all over the place; I felt like I was listening to like four different songs. The verse about mopeds was just awkward and very reminiscent of "Thrift Shop." I guess it's better than "Growing Up," but what song isn't?
