That was such a chore to get through. It's all over the place; I felt like I was listening to like four different songs. The verse about mopeds was just awkward and very reminiscent of "Thrift Shop." I guess it's better than "Growing Up," but what song isn't? That verse also reminded me of "White Walls" (though going from talking about buying a Cadillac to a moped is arguably a trade down.) The song honestly feels like a hodgepodge, with a little reference to previous hits, some "Uptown Funk", some 80s style, a few rock anthem-type choruses, and more. It's interesting, at least, and stands out, but is it maybe a little too all-over-the-place to stay on radio beyond the initial buzz?

Finally listened to it in full. Can't say that I truly like it, but I'm definitely intrigued by it. I don't think it's "all over the place" but it definitely has a few different styles but I think they kind of work well together. I do really like the part where they rap in sync though.

I only heard it once so far but I feel like it's soooo cheesy that it'll become a hit based on that, or it's too cheesy to be a solid hit.

Radio loves him, for reasons that I won't get into in the radio thread
This song is a mess and if anybody other than Macklemore released it, nobody would ever know it existed

I agree with the MJ comparisons during the chorus. Eric sounds just like him, especially during the final part of the chorus where he's singing "You don't need no beef, boy/Know I run the streets, boy/Better follow me towards". I love it.

LOL..it's literally like 12 different songs and very UPTOWN FUNK not not too similar where it's a rip off. I kinda like this?

I now listen to this in full, which I think makes me a sociopath. I suffer through Macklemore's mumbles to get to the glorious chorus.

they should split this song in 3 or 4 segments and send them to different radio formats.

Was waiting for this to happen I like the mashup, and it makes sense that the worst song by far (Fancy) would be put over the best part (the chorus). Good contrast.

So at this line: "It’s the equivalent of waking up to seeing all your neighbors pushed out by ruthless landlords jacking up rents just to make room for cupcake shops."

This is terrible, lol. There's just too much going on and it sounds like it's trying too hard to capitalize on the retro trend going on right now. The chorus is the only decent part but that isn't enough to save this from being terrible. It's catchy, though. Watch it become a hit.

I don't know why people say there is too much going on in this song. There's three parts to almost every song: verse, bridge, chorus. This song just plays with the order and frequency of each one. It's as if people are criticizing this song for not being formulaic.

Not a fan of this. Too scattered. If it explodes all the way to the top, it will be blocked at #3.

Heard this the other day in my car and I loved it. It's funny. A song about a moped can't be wrong IMO!!
