I couldn’t stand to watch that Fallon episode. Charlie is so full of himself and it really bothers me. And him creating songs on TikTok is such bullshit. And while he looks good, he wouldnt have worn that blazer years ago. Another straight artist piggybacking off the queer community.
It’s also really bothering me how Jimmy kisses everyone ass and now because we live in a woke world, he has to call everyone “bud”. 🙄
I also don’t know how anyone can stand Charlie’s voice for a full album, but that’s just me.

If he called women sweetheart and honey, it wouldn’t go over as well. He just sounds like he’s playing it super safe by calling anyone and everyone bud, and he wasn’t doing that a few years ago. Just like how Keanu doesn’t put his hands on women because to avoid it ever being twisted, he can safely say I didn’t touch anyone. I respect it, it just sounds odd when he calls everyone bud now. Maybe it’s just me. |

That's literally the least of my issues with Fallon. The biggest one is that he is smarmy, fake, and an obnoxious kiss-ass. He gives me low-key Ellen vibes, honestly. He was better on SNL. Anyway, it's unfortunate that Charlie finally made a solid album all the way through and the GP is just not here for it, but the bigger problem is Charlie himself. I just don't think he is likeable, so no one is rooting for him and the numbers show that. Outside of Koochie, I literally don't know a single person who likes him or is even into his music. |

Solid music and cool eyebrows aren’t gonna sell a vanilla white guy. |

It seems like Atlantic broke the bank trying to promote Left & Right and all they got was a #10 Pop Airplay and a #22 Hot 100. While it is still his highest charting Hot 100 since "How Long" and the album still made top 10, this decline doesn't bode too well. I'd love to see "Loser" become a smash though but we'll see.

I think the reality is that, while he may be a good (and successful) songwriter, he's not personally compelling enough to be a pop star, in the long-term, in his own right.

I couldn't make it through this album tbh. He's just outright not a good vocalist. The textbook definition of one note, and every attempt he makes to jump out of that note is awful (ex. "That's Hilarious" WOOF). And drenching himself in autotune just makes it worse IMO.

I wouldn’t call him a bad vocalist, he just doesn’t know his limitations and can’t settle on a sound that suits his tone. Voicenotes was great, “I Warned Myself” is where he peaked, and “Light Switch” was fine, but he overextends his voice to the point that a lot of his new stuff sounds unpolished. There’s nothing inherently wrong about venturing outside of your comfort zone, but you can’t get too close to the edge of the Earth without falling off.
My first instinct was to call him a Jack of all trades, master of none, but I don’t even think that’s true. He’s a talented writer and musician who can pump out hits for other people just fine. He’s exceptionally good at what he can do. He’s detrimentally inconsistent with what he wants to.

You all are sleeping on this one. It's a vibe and the melody and production of this album are great, despite the sometimes questionable lyrics and vocals. Loser, I Don't Think That I Like Her, L&R, Tears On My Piano, Smells Like Me, That's Hilarious are all pop gems. Even with the moderate success, I'm hoping this is an even bigger sleeper hit.
