Tonight, on the drive home from the cottage, I had my iPod on shuffle in the car and "I Just Drove By" from Wyonna came on. That got me thinking that nobody does family nostalgia songs better than Wy. Are there any other artist who you think have a way with a certain type of song?
For me:
Wynonna - family nostalgia
"I Just Drove By" "Flies On The Butter (You Can't Go Home Again)" "Come Some Rainy Day" "Grandpa Tell Me Bout The Good Old Days" (as 'The Judds')
Reba - sad story songs
"She Thinks His Name Was John" "The Greatest Man I Never Knew" "And Still" "All Dressed Up (With Nowhere To Go)" "Bobby"

Jo Dee Messina is the queen of kiss-off anthems. Martina McBride is the best at uplifting feminist topics (like overcoming breast cancer or domestic violence) that upset Ten Pound Hammer. Lee Ann Womack is the queen of "life can be dark, lonely, and/or a bitch" exposés.

Neal McCoy: lighthearted fluffy 90s earworms
Marty Stuart: bluegrass tinged rock
The Kentucky Headhunters: southern rock-flavored covers of 50s and 60s songs
Toby Keith: facepalm-inducing jingoism (seriously, radio, why the HELL am I still hearing "Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue" once a week?!), playful naughtiness
Rascal Fats: caterwauling
