Rachel Platten's third album, featuring breakout hit "Fight Song" and new single "Stand By You," should be coming before the end of the year.
(Edit: the information I had here about title/artwork is supposedly incorrect.)

Both of her first two songs are good - I'm intrigued.

2. "Hey Hey Hallelujah" (featuring Andy Grammer)lmfao/ugh January 1...? Like, I'm happy to get the album sooner than I'd expected, but I'm not sure how successful that release date will be, considering each of the past several years' January charts have been led by bigger releases from the previous fall.

The last big release I remember on a January 1st was...Ke$ha's debut album?

I generally like and appreciate most pop stars, but Rachel rubs me the wrong way. She's so vanilla and adequate that it hurts. She's like a more basic version of Taylor Swift and has as much edge as a Christian pop artist. And her songs come off as disingenuous. I can love a dumb pop song more than most, but my god "Fight Song" and "Stand By You" are offensively bland. They'd work real well as filler on a flop romcom's soundtrack. Her smile looks like she's just been trying for so damn long that it's frozen in that way on her face.
She's the musical equivalent of taupe.
Hailee Steinfeld's embarrassing EP has more character than she does.

Although some of your criticisms are valid, you completely lost me at "adequate" and "disingenuous". Your picture and name are for Selena Gomez. Lack of self awareness, your name is Say Selena. Anyway, I've seen the word "basic" thrown around with many Hot AC and AC artists, and it really kills me how you can equate being a singer/songwriter/musician with being basic. They don't like to dress up and pull stunts, and their music is piano/guitar driven rather than synth. So they are basic. OK. Plus, Rachel mentions the bible, heaven, blessings, etc. in her previous work. So I would actually classify her as a very light Christian pop star haha. And why would that be a bad thing?

Oh I'm not trying to say Selena is by any means the most naturally talented singer out there, but I enjoy her music a lot and she has at least cultivated an image and profile. We know who she is; her songs are decidedly her. And everyone's (unfortunately) looking for JBiebs in meaning. Also she and some of my other favorite singers are exactly why I said I can forgive most basic pop acts. Rachel, however, has nothing for me. She has no personality, and her songs are just there. They don't try to be anything other than boring white girl Pinterest pop. Like over a vanilla latte when you can't even any more, you crank up "Fight Song." On a final note and I'll leave this probably very nice lady alone: she is a formerly Christian artist? Welllllllll now you've 100% lost me.

It's not a good album. It's not a bad album. It's like Natasha bedingfield but with less edge.
It's like owl city, train, Andy grammar, and Natasha bedingfield made a record together. There's a market for her. Basic white girls.

Does anyone know what the projected sales are? I have no idea what she might sell, I'm sure nothing over 30,000. I would be happy with that number.

I absolutely hated 'Fight Song' and really don't like 'Stand By You', but I thought I'd give the album a chance before writing her completely off. And a result, I found 'Hey Hey Halleujah', 'Astronauts', 'Congratulations', and 'Superman' to be really great! HHH is hot. I hope it's the next single. So I'm glad to find there is more to her than the 2 singles she has released so far.

I love this album.
I'm really pissed that 'Begin Again' was never released to ITunes because it was supposed to make the album and it never made the album but...besides that it's a really solid pop album.

Rachel is JEWISH. And was raised Jewish. And just married a Jewish guy in a Jewish wedding.
Totally shocked.

Her album is so great. Honestly, there is not one song on her album that I don't like. There are some that are okay, but still good.
Really well done and I expected to like her album. After hearing her album, I can't wait to hear more of her songs on the radio. Love Rachel and her music. Definitely a fan!

She won a Daytime Emmy for her performance of "Fight Song" on GMA and beat out Adele and Bruno Mars! Wow!!! I do have to say though, that seemed to be the breakout moment of her break through hit - the moment she had finally connected with the public. Crazy!! :) Go Rachel!

She just has a lot of Christian-y themes in her songs. I mean she even has a church choir in Stand By You. She sounds like a Christian Pop Hot AC artist.
