10/10 Billboard 200: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6708140/billboard-200-top-10-debuts-drake-future-lana-del-rey-mac-millerSeven Debuts Hit Top 10 of Billboard 200 Chart, Led by Drake & Future, Lana Del Rey and Mac MillerBy Keith Caulfield | September 27, 2015 5:20 PM EDT The top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart (dated Oct. 10) is jam-packed with debuts, as a total of seven new entries populate the region — the most top 10 debuts in nearly a year. The chart last housed seven top 10 debuts back on the Nov. 8, 2014-dated list. The new chart is led by the new surprise album from Drake and Future, What a Time to Be Alive, which opens at No. 1 with 375,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Sept. 24 (according to Nielsen Music) — the third-largest week for an album in 2015. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Oct. 10-dated chart (where Drake and Future are No. 1) will be posted in full to Billboard’s websites on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Coming in at No. 2 on the new chart is Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon, with 116,000 units (105,000 in pure album sales). It’s the fourth top 10 album for Del Rey, and follows her chart-topping Ultraviolence in 2014. The latter set opened with 182,000 sold in its first week. Last week’s No. 1 album, The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness (which happens to feature Del Rey), slips to No. 3 with 90,000 units (down 9 percent). Rapper Mac Miller sees his new Go:od AM clock in at No. 4 with 87,000 units (73,000 in pure album sales). It’s the third consecutive top 10 album for Miller, who previously reached No. 1 in 2011 with Blue Slide Park and No. 3 in 2013 with Watching Movies With the Sound Off. David Gilmour earns his highest charting solo album ever, as Rattle That Lock enters at No. 5 with 71,000 units (70,000 in pure album sales). The Pink Floyd member’s earlier high-water mark came in 2006 with On an Island, which debuted and peaked at No. 6. Rock band Shinedown debuts at No. 6 with its latest effort, Threat to Survival (65,000 units; 61,000 in sales). It’s the group’s third top 10, and first chart entry since 2012’s Amaryllis debuted and peaked at No. 4. Ryan Adams’ interpretation of Taylor Swift’s 1989 album bows at No. 7 with 56,000 units (49,000 in album sales). It’s the fourth top 10 for Adams, who previously visited the top 10 with his self-titled album in 2014 (No. 4), Ashes & Fire in 2011 (No. 7) and Easy Tiger in 2007 (No. 7). Right behind Adams’ new 1989 is the album that inspired it: Taylor Swift’s 1989. The latter descends from No. 5 to No. 8 with 42,000 units (down 4 percent). Luke Bryan’s former No. 1, Kill the Lights, falls 6-9 with 37,000 (down less than 1 percent). Closing out the top 10 is hip-hop artist Andy Mineo, who scores his first top 10 with the bow of Uncomfortable at No. 10 (35,000 units; 32,000 in pure album sales — his best sales week ever). Mineo also enters at No. 1 on the Top Christian Albums chart and at No. 3 on the Rap Albums chart.

10/10 Billboard 200: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6708138/drake-future-what-a-time-to-be-alive-billboard-200-no-1Drake and Future's Surprise Album Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | September 27, 2015 5:11 PM EDT Drake and Future’s surprise album What a Time to Be Alive charges in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, giving Drake his second chart-topper of 2015. The set earned 375,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Nielsen Music — of that sum, 334,000 were pure album sales. 29. What a Time to Be Alive was released Sunday, Sept. 20 (through A-1/Freebandz/Young Money/Cash Money/Epic/Republic Records), and was initially exclusively available through Apple Music and the iTunes Store. The set was only announced one day earlier, and its release came on an off-cycle Sunday (as most albums are now released on a Friday each week, the first day of the Billboard 200's tracking week). Let’s take a look at some of the statistics that accompany Drake and Future’s debut: Third-Largest Week for an Album in 2015, by Units: The only larger weeks were racked by the debuts of The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind the Madness (412,000) and Drake’s other surprise album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (535,000). Second Largest Sales Week for an Album in 2015: What a Time to Be Alive sold 334,000 in pure album sales, making it the second-biggest sales week this year. The only larger week was racked by Drake’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late (495,000). Drake and Future Are the First Hip-Hop Acts Since 2004 to Score Two No. 1 Albums in a Calendar Year: With the arrival of What a Time to Be Alive, both Drake and Future tally their second leaders on the Billboard 200 in 2015. Drake debuted at No. 1 earlier in 2015 with If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Future scored his first No. 1 nearly two months ago with DS2. The last hip-hop act to earn multiple No. 1s within a calendar year was Jay Z back in 2004. He reached the top that year with Unfinished Business (with R. Kelly) and MTV Ultimate Mash-Ups Presents: Collision Course (with Linkin Park). The last act, regardless of genre, to notch more than one No. 1 album in a calendar year was Justin Timberlake, who saw both volumes of his The 20/20 Experience debut at No. 1 in 2013. Drake and Future are also the first hip-hop acts to collect multiple No. 1 albums within a 12-month span of time since 2011, when Lil Wayne managed the feat with Tha Carter IV and I Am Not a Human Being. Drake and Future are members of an elite group of acts to have more than one No. 1 album in a 12-month frame. They are the first to do so since One Direction in late 2014, when Four’s chart-topping arrival came less than a year after Midnight Memories bowed at No. 1. What a Time… is Drake’s Fifth No. 1 Album: Drake has collected five straight No. 1s on the Billboard 200, all of which debuted at No. 1. It follows If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, Nothing Was the Same (in 2013), Take Care (2011) and Thank Me Later (2010). Future’s Second No. 1 in Less Than Two Months: Less than two months after Future earned his first No. 1, with DS2, he’s back on top with What a Time to Be Alive. Drake and Future lead a busy top 10 on the Billboard 200, where six more albums arrive in the region, including new efforts from Lana Del Rey, Mac Miller and David Gilmour.

Lana Del Rey is kept from snatching that no.1 this time... Wonderin when she'll get a no.1 hit song on hot 100 (or at least a top 10 song WITHOUT A REMIX VERSION AND AS A LEAD ARTIST)

roughstock.com/news/2015/09/38732-country-albums-chart-report-september-28-2015Country Albums Chart Report: September 28, 2015Posted By Matt Bjorke The pictured Alabama has secured one of three new debuts on the Top 5 of this week's look into the best-selling albums in all of country music. Three of the Top Five albums on this week's Country Albums Chart Report are brand new releases and all of them land in the #2 to #4 range. The only hold-overs on the Top 5 are #1 Luke Bryan's Kill The Lights and last week's #1, Illinois from Brett Eldredge, which holds onto #5 this week. At #2 is Alabama's first album in 14 years Southern Drawl, a record which sold nearly 21k in its first week (note these are raw sales numbers and don't include any sales + stream figures as the Hot 200 Albums is the only place for those #s) Also, on our clickable chart, you'll see that Alabama's previously released collection of Hymns and Gospel songs, Angels Among Us has sold over 115k copies to date, a strong figure for any album without any real radio airplay. At #3 is the third album from Turnpike Troubadours. The self-titled album scanned 19,400 copies this week, not a bad number for an independent band working with Thirty Tigers for album distribution. At #4 is the third Columbia Records release from Country Vocal powerhouse band Home Free. Their Country Evolution album sold over 9,000 copies. This is the band's highest-charting debut and peak, surpassing the #9 peak for Crazy Life and the #12 peak for Full of Cheer (both 2014 album releases). Top Ten Recap Sitting at #6 is Sam Hunt's Montevallo. It remains one of the best-selling albums in all genres in 2015 and sold another 8,800 copies last week. Eric Church's The Outsiders scanned 5,300 to hold down #8 while Zac Brown Band's Jekyll+Hyde is at #8 with 532k+ scanned to date. At #9 is Florida Georgia Line's Anything Goes with 3,800 more copies added to their tally while Little Big Town's Pain Killer rounds out the Top 10 with 351k+ scanned to date (The album features the hits "Girl Crush" and "Day Drinking") Notables Notables include news about the latest from Maddie & Tae, Alan Jackson,Kacey Musgraves, Cam, Reba, Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood and more! Clare Dunn's EP, Leigh Nash's The State I'm In, Joe Ely's Pandhandle Rambler, Blackberry Smoke's Acoustic Wood Wire & Roses (EP) and Diamond Rio's I Made It all debut on the chart this week. Diamond Rio's album debuted at the final spot on the chart, #75. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r0NB1qYXJa1G6cNxwBJW92EJH_947dxulPW2fhfoDlw/edit?pli=1CNTRY Artist Album Week Total Scans 1 Luke Bryan Kill The Lights 27,500 584,400 2 Alabama Southern Drawl 20,900 20,900 3 Turnpike Troubadours Turnpike Troubadours 19,400 19,400 4 Home Free Country Evolution 9,700 9,700 5 Brett Eldredge Illinois 9,500 53,200 6 Sam Hunt Montevallo 8,800 764,000 7 Eric Church The Outsiders 5,300 1,081,300 8 Zac Brown Band Jekyll+Hyde 5,100 532,400 9 Florida Georgia Line Anything Goes 3,800 764,800 10 Little Big Town Pain Killer 3,600 351,600 11 Maddie & Tae Start Here 3,500 38,900 12 Jason Aldean Old Boots, New Dirt 3,100 1,043,400 13 Alan Jackson Angels & Alcohol 2,900 114,900 14 Brantley Gilbert Just As I Am 2,800 910,600 15 Various Artists Now Country 8 2,400 108,700 -- Kacey Musgraves Pageant Material 2,300 126,900 -- Kip Moore Wild Ones 2,200 53,100 -- Chris Stapleton Traveller 2,100 88,000 -- Chase Rice Ignite The Night 1,900 292,600 -- Zac Brown Band Greatest Hits So Far 1,900 211,700 -- Jason Isbell Something More Than Free 1,900 96,800 -- Carrie Underwood Greatest Hits #1 1,800 395,600 -- Alabama Angels Among Us: Hymns... 1,600 115,000 -- Kelsea Ballerini The First Time 1,600 60,100 -- W.Nelson/M.Haggard Django & Jimmie 1,500 105,500 -- Miranda Lambert Platinum 1,400 746,600 -- Clare Dunn Clare Dunn EP 1,400 1,400 -- Cam Welcome To Cam Country 1,200 19,400 -- Leigh Nash The State I'm In 1,100 1,100 -- Joe Ely Panhandle Rambler 1,000 1,000 Reba Love Somebody 900 170,700 Blackberry Smoke Wood, Wire & Roses (EP) 400 400 Diamond Rio I Made It 400 400

Any idea if the same album has charted as two clearly separate versions before? Only possibility I can think of is Jagged Little Pill by Alanis because of the acoustic version in 2005.

On the Independent albums chart, OPERATION: mindcrime's The Key is at no. 36. Also #47 on Rock albums. This album is also above -- Chase Rice Ignite The Night 1,900 292,600 on independent albums. So I say around that number

Just five Current albums not in the top 100 sales. That's one of the lower tallies. That will increase in coming weeks, though, with the holiday season.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6715401/keith-richards-judy-collins-billboard-200-chart-movesBillboard 200 Chart Moves: Keith Richards, Judy Collins & Darlene Love DebutBy Keith Caulfield | October 02, 2015 Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the Oct. 10 chart: — Keith Richards, Crosseyed Heart - No. 11 — The iconic guitarist of The Rolling Stones earns his highest charting solo album ever, as Crosseyed Heart debuts at No. 11. His previous high was logged with 1988’s Talk Is Cheap, which rose to No. 24. The new set, which is his third solo studio effort, arrives with 34,000 units (of which 33,000 are from pure album sales). That sales sum is also his largest sales week since Nielsen Music began tracking sales in 1991. As for The Rolling Stones, the band has charted 53 entries on the Billboard 200, most recently with a pair of titles related to the reissue of Sticky Fingers earlier this year: Sticky Fingers (Super Deluxe) (No. 65 peak) and Sticky Fingers: Live (No. 92). — Soundtrack, Pitch Perfect 2 - No. 43 — Thanks to the home video release of Pitch Perfect 2, its companion soundtrack scoots up the list with a 104 percent unit gain (rising 112-43). The album shifted 10,000 units (of which are 9,000 in pure album ales). The film was released to home video on Sept. 22. — Lil Dicky, Professional Rapper - No. 47 — Rapper Lil Dicky jumps back onto the list at No. 47 (9,000 units; up 260 percent) thanks to publicity generated by his viral video “$ave Dat Money.” The clip, which was released on Sept. 17 to his YouTube channel, has tallied 7.9 million global views. — Judy Collins, Strangers Again – No. 77 — Singer/songwriter Judy Collins returns to the Billboard 200 after 33 years, as her new album Strangers Again arrives at No. 77. It’s her first studio album in four years, and her first appearance on the chart since 1982’s Time of Our Lives wrapped up its five week chart run on April 10, 1982 (peaking at No. 190 that same week). It’s also the Grammy Award-winner’s highest charting title since 1979’s Hard Times for Lovers reached No. 54. The new album features a bevy of guest stars, including Jackson Browne, Willie Nelson, Jeff Bridges, Glen Hansard and Don McLean. Promotion of the album was bolstered by an interview on National Public Radio’s Weekend Edition (on Sept. 12) and coverage in USA Today. Strangers Again is Collins’ 17th charting album. Her first came in 1964 with Judy Collins #3 (which reached No. 126). Her high-water mark on the list was earned by 1968’s Wildflowers, peaking at No. 5. — Glen Hansard, Didn’t He Ramble – No. 92 — Speaking of Glen Hansard (as he’s one of the guests on Judy Collins’ new album, see No. 77, above), he debuts at No. 92 with his own new set, Didn’t He Ramble (6,000 units). It’s the fourth charting effort for the Academy Award-winner, following Drive All Night (EP) (No. 188 in 2013), Rhythm and Repose (No. 21 in 2012) and The Swell Season (No. 194; credited to Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova with Maria Tuhkanen and Bertrand Galen). — Florence + The Machine, How Big How Blue How Beautiful – No. 97 — The album earns the chart’s largest percentage gain (up 44 percent) after promotion within the iTunes Store and Apple Music. The band played the Apple Music Festival on Sept. 28, and the show was heavily publicized by Apple leading up to the event. — Darlene Love, Introducing Darlene Love – No. 134 — Darlene Love -- a vocalist who is both a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Award-winner -- finally makes her Billboard 200 chart debut with Introducing Darlene Love. The set (which starts at No. 134 with 5,000 units) is her first full-length album of original pop songs in 27 years, and includes tunes written by Bruce Springsteen, Desmond Child, Joan Jett and Elvis Costello. Love was featured in the 2013 Academy Award-winning documentary film 20 Feet From Stardom, and whose voice has been heard on numerous hits that have charted on the Billboard Hot 100. Perhaps most famously, Love was the lead vocalist of the No. 1 single “He’s a Rebel,” which was credited to The Crystals, though actually performed by Love with her group The Blossoms. Love also provided background vocals on smashes like The Ronettes’ No. 2 hit “Be My Baby,” Bobby “Boris” Pickett and the Crypt-Kickers’ chart-topper “Monster Mash” and The Righteous Brothers’ No. 1 “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin.’” She has sang background on albums for everyone from Cher and Aretha Franklin to Luther Vandross and Bette Midler.
