Umm... MJB is far more of a legend than Toni.. like what alternate universe are we discussing?
Edit: just realized the answer to my own question is 1997.

Toni sold 40 million albums and still racking up Grammys and #1 songs. As stated, MJB is also a deserving choice. lol. and Mary has sold over 50 million albums with a total of 75 million records, with 9 Grammys, 2 Oscar noms and 2 number 1s from her last album! so what are you saying? LOL I misstated...Toni sold 67 million records, 7 Grammys, 7 AMA's, 5 Billboard awards, and a Soul Train LEGEND award. Again both are worthy.

You do know you're making yourself look foolish by stating Toni Braxton accolades in a MJB thread right? Toni stats doesnt even compare and thats no shade against Toni its just facts. Mary has sold more, had more hits, more awards, in both acting, music, her purfume even won awards. She's sang with everyone from Aretha, Barbara Streisand to Andrea Bocelli. Lets not even talk R&B and Hip-Hop. Please stop... and Mary won that Soul Train Legend award back in 2000. Please stop. Toni will have her day eventually lol

Mary, of course, is a LEGEND and deserves all her dues, especially for birthing Faith Evans and Keyshia Cole.

I loved her performance at the BET Awards, but I couldn't help but notice she was struggling a bit vocally. It was also noticeable on the last album that something is up with her voice. I wonder what is going on? Regardless, she did great and she showcased her amazing catalog

Enjoyed the extensive medley of hits, particularly "No More Drama," "Real Love" and "You Remind Me." What's the 411?, on cassette, was in my collection (it still may be).

Mary mixed in pre recorded vocals with a couple of the uptempos. I was kinda surprised. not sure what's going on with her vocally, but she was sounding better than even when she was with her ex husband. She may need to slow down on the partying.

I wonder what is going on? You’re acting like this is some kind of recent development. Mary been struggling for YEARS now, she can’t stay on key to save her life. 😨 Nice to see her being honored anyway! Congrats babygurl!!!

I'm talking about deterioration, she sounded nasal, very raspy and she dodged quite a few notes.

She didn't sound good, but I think there were sound issues and she couldn't hear herself. She kept playing with her earpiece and you could hear her say something before she walked onstage.

Loved hearing that medley. I agree that her vocals seemed a bit off, but she got better through the performance. She sounded excellent when I saw her during the SOAW tour, so I was wondering if it was all the nonstop choreography that was affecting her (whereas on tour she had breaks in between songs).

I noticed that too, but that would only affect pitch, not the raspiness or nasal quality. Whatever, she's still a LEGEND.

Queen Tings!!!
Mary J. Blige Inks First-Look TV Deal With Lionsgate
Mary J. Blige has signed an exclusive first-look television deal with Lionsgate.
Under the pact, Blige and her newly-launched Blue Butterfly productions will develop and produce TV series for the studio. The singer-actress will also have the opportunity to create content across Lionsgate’s various business platforms.
“Mary is a very talented artist, fearless visionary and an incredible human being. We’re delighted to be working with someone with such a powerful and impactful creative voice,” said Lionsgate TV Group chairman Kevin Beggs. “Every art she touches blossoms and we’re humbled she’s chosen us as her home. We look forward to all the exciting new content Mary and her Blue Butterfly banner will bring to our television slate and Lionsgate 360 orbit.”
Blige’s recent credits include “Mudbound” on the film side, for which she earned acting and music Oscar nominations, and Netflix’s “The Umbrella Academy” on the TV side.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Lionsgate. They are incredible collaborators and have been natural partners from when we first started talking. I can’t wait to bring all of our projects to life,” said Blige in a statement.
Blige is the latest artist to begin developing content with Lionsgate, as the company’s burgeoning talent roster includes Courtney Kemp, Jonathan Levine, Matt Kunitz, Mona-Scott Young, Cassian Elwes, the Erwin Brothers, Eugenio Derbez, and Yvette Lee Bowser, among others.
Seth Rogen and his Point Grey Pictures banner also recently signed with the studio in a multiplatform deal which includes motion pictures, TV packages, and potential programming for Lionsgate’s cable channel Starz. Lionsgate’s biggest productions on the TV front include “Orange Is The New Black,” “Mad Men” and “Dear White People.”
Blige recently picked up the BET Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 BET Awards. Fellow legendary recording artist Rihanna presented her with the trophy. She is represented by APA, The Lede Company and Grubman Shire & Meiselas.

Damn I LIVE for that performance. The part when the whole building was singing "I'm Goin' Down" was precious.

Saw the opening night of the Royalty Tour.
My second time seeing MJB, first time seeing Nas. I liked the stage, but of course with two prolific artists, there's going to be a bunch of medleys.
Even though we didn't get Be Without You or I Am (or anything from my personal fave Love & Life), she put on a show. Never saw her dance so much!

BWY has been retired for a while; I wouldn’t be surprised if she never performed it again. #FucKendudu

BWY doesn't need to be in her setlist. Unless white moms still go to her concerts.

BWY doesn't need to be in her setlist. Unless white moms still go to her concerts. I mean it was the biggest R&B hit of all time in terms of weeks at #1 on Billboard back in 2006.. let’s not downplay its R&B success. That said, I can definitely live without her performing it.. “Family Affair” too.
