I think y'all can get the point. I've always been intrigued by songs about the actual art of songwriting, life as a musician, or songs mentioning other artists as inspirations. Also songs where artists write about their fans.
I'll omit all the 1,000 songs mentioning anything with "Hank" LOL (avid Hank Jr. fan btw, just doesn't think it applies here).
- Hank Jr/Alan Jackson "The Blues Man": one of Jr.s best songs IMO, and ALan did it justice as well
- Jamey Johnson "That's Why I Write Songs"
- Hank Cochran "Living For A Song"
- Statler Brothers "How To Be A Country Star"
- Alan Jackson "Job Description" : one of my favorite Alan album cuts
- George Strait "I'll Always Remember You"
- Gary Allan "A Showman's Life" : a fine Jesse Winchester written song
- Whitey Morgan and the 78's "Good Timin' Man"
- Willie Nelson "The Songwriters"
- Merle Haggard "This Song Is Mine"
- Alabama "Hats Off" and "The Fans"
- Charley Pride "Radio Heroes"
- Charlie Daniels "Mr. DJ " : my favorite CDB song
- Chris LeDoux "Cowboy Songs"
- Chris Stapleton "The Devil Named Music"
- Dale Watson "Blessed or Damned"
- Dale Watson "Every Song I Write Is For You"
- Darius Rucker "So I Sang"
- David Nail "Songs for Sale" : should have been a single, his best cut IMO
- The Derailers "All The Rage in Paris"
- Dierks Bentley "Damn These Dreams"
- Eli Young Band "Even If It Breaks Your Heart"
- Tim McGraw "Nashville Without You" and "Damn Country Music"
- Hayes Carll - "Hard Out Here"
- Kenny Chesney "If This Bus Could Talk"
- Alan Jackson "To Do What I Do"
- Johnny Cash "Let There Be Country"
- Johnny Paycheck "Old Violin"
- Jon Wolfe "Singing Thing"
- Josh Turner "South Carolina Low Country"
- Lacy J Dalton "16th Avenue"
- Mel McDaniel "Sunday Morning Preachers"
Think thats good for now. Anyone else?
