MTS TOP 100 SONGS | JANUARY 3, 2016 | WEEK 32 | SEASON 2 Everything below will be written as if today was January 3, 2016
New Year, New #1 & Year-End Take-Over
We have ourselves a new #1. This #1 is by an artist that now has 4 #1 hits. His name is Justin Bieber, and the song's name is Sorry. Even though there were quite a few songs benefiting from their year-end chart positions (Another update about my year-end will be below the chart), Sorry managed to ride a wave of momentum (which was mainly because of me liking the song way more) and it beat out the below contenders. Note: Below the chart will be the list of best contenders for the next #1.At #2 is a huge gainer, The Hills, which gains 300k+ points (and jumps #14-#2) this week and edges out Locked Away for #3. Locked Away is enjoying another week inside the top 10, but it may not have much fuel left in the top 10 tank. Locked Away has been very close to dropping out of the top 10, but still managed to never fall below 7 since its 43 position jump to #1 that it almost 20 weeks ago. As for The Hills, it gets very interesting. Either the year-end momentum dies off and forces a drop, or it keeps some of the Y-E momentum and with the fact that it is still one of my favorite songs, it could actually be the next #1, but for maybe 1 week. Next week will probably the last week that it will have any shot at getting that #1. At #4 this week is Ed Sheeran's Photograph. It has been in this top 10 for 23 total weeks and hasn't fallen out of the top 10 since it entered it. It could be looking at... well... this could be surprising, but, 35 or more weeks in the top 10. Yep, that's right. That would mean it would surpass the official Hot 100 top record of 32 weeks and it also means that we would probably never see this record be broken. Well, I mean, unless 1 certain song below (#11 hint hint) can manage to have the success that I believe it will have. At #5 is Stitches by Shawn Mendes. Not a bad drop from #1 compared to the other recent ones. Most of the recent big drops (usually around 11-15) from #1 are usually because I let a song stick around to hit #1 if I want it to, then I put it around its proper position. One of the main contenders for #1 is this song: I'll Show You by Justin Bieber. It's weird to see songs like I'll Show You and Purpose stick around like this without even being a single. It just amazes me. So anyways, I'll Show You takes a comfortable slide down from #3 to #6. With the songs above only being up here for the year-end, this could be a great sign for this song. Same thing as mentioned for #6, In The Night (which falls from its peak of #5 to #7) is in a good position right now and is also a contender for #1. Ed Sheeran's huge hit, Thinking Out Loud, has re-entered the top 10 as it jumps (27-8) and joins his other huge hit. Congrats to Ed Sheeran for finally getting both of these songs in the top 10 at the same time. The impressive thing, he managed to get 2 songs from an album that was release almost 2 years ago in the top 10 at the same time, and especially they both had their peak in popularity months ago. Greatest song by Ed Sheeran and my favorite song of all-time IN MY OPINION. Speaking of Purpose (mentioned with I'll Show You), Purpose takes a (4-9) drops this week but is still going strong. Expect to see this around for a very large portion of 2016, maybe even the entire year of 2016. "Oh, oh, oh." "Hey, yeah." Look what has returned to the almighty top 10. Justin Bieber's 1st single from Purpose, What Do You Mean?, jumps (15-10) and grabs another week in the top 10. Notable Songs Outside Of The Top 10:#11: twenty one pilots- Stressed Out (Jumps 16-11 despite the song that flew above it. It will be a major hit this year.) #15: Justin Bieber- Love Yourself (Don't let the "-9" fool you. This song isn't going anywhere but back in the top 10, but it might take 2-3 weeks.) #16: Tori Kelly- Hollow (Yep, there's another top 10 hit in the making) #20: Tori Kelly- Unbreakable Smile (This benefits from its year-end position, but that's not it. This has managed to actually pick up some points from me liking it more. BTW: Does it make sense when I use "likeness" as the word for the "me liking it more" phrase?) #35: Jason Derulo- Get Ugly (This should have some great success on my chart, top 10 possibly.) HERE IS THE FULL TOP 100 List of best possible contenders for the next #11. The Weeknd- The Hills (59%)2. twenty one pilots (34%) 3. Justin Bieber- I'll Show You (4%) 4. Others (3%) Top 5: Songs with the greatest chance of ever hitting #1. Each songs probability is ranked from 0%-100%1. twenty one pilots- Stressed Out (100%)2. Justin Bieber- I'll Show You (76%) 3. The Weeknd- The Hills (71%) 4. The Weeknd- In The Night (45%) 5. Tori Kelly- Hollow (41%) I tried to look into the future and see how long Stressed Out could be at #1 and then look at the other song's chances to be around and hit #1 after Stressed Out's run at the top. I plan to update those weekly 2 categories each week. Speaking of updates, my new year-end plan: I plan to have both year-end posted by the end of January. YAS at Sorry being #1! And I love your "probability lists"! Out Of The Woods, please keep rising It should definitely keep rising. It could be a top 10 hit in a month or 2. :) Oh, and I like my probability lists too. I didn't use any formula to decide the specific numbers, I just estimated in my mind of what it's chance could be. I have ITN and Hollow, obviously barely below a 50/50 mainly because I usually don't have that many 2+ week #1's. With I'll Show You continuing to be one of my favorite songs, it should have a great chance. So should The Hills, that is, if it keeps its last bit of Y-E momentum next week (week 33).

I like I'll Show You and Love Yourself, but I prefer I'll Show You. So if Love Yourself does get that #1, it will have a very slim chance of getting their before I'll Show You.

MTS TOP 100 SONGS | JANUARY 10, 2016 | WEEK 33 | SEASON 2 So the main question of this week: Did The Hills manage to hit #1? Find out below! Last week, I said that this week would be the last opportunity for The Hills to hit #1. Did it make it? Yes, it did. It managed to hold off Sorry. Not only did Sorry fall, but it also went back from #1 to #3 instead of having an gentle slip to #2. Let's congratulate The Weeknd for getting his second #1 and getting two songs in the top 5. The Hills should fall next week since it will lose a big chunk of its momentum. Now, you might be thinking: "Sorry should be able to return to #1 next week. This #2 shouldn't last too long, right?" Wrong! This week's #2 took a big leap from #11 to #2 and is almost certain that it will be #1 next week. The song is by twenty one pilots and it's called Stressed Out. This is shaping out to be one of the biggest hits of this year and could already be a guaranteed top 10 song of 2016 year-end. Crazy, I know, but that is how quickly this song is gaining and how much it is gaining. Stressed Out is looking to be a 5+ week number 1. Only 1 other song has managed to get more than 5 weeks at #1. That song is R. City's Locked Away (which falls 3-10 and could be leaving the top 10 very soon). Back to Bieber. Here are the notable Justin Bieber songs 3. Sorry (-2) (Like I haven't said this a million times already) 4. I'll Show You (+2) (This could be the next number 1 after Stressed Out) 6. Purpose (+3) (This shouldn't be going anywhere soon.) 9. What Do You Mean? (+1) (Still going strong) 12. Love Yourself (+3) (This should definitely re-enter the top 10 next week) 28. No Pressure (+4) (Looking to make a re-bound) Now back to the actual top 10: The Weeknd, as I mentioned before, now has 2 songs in the top 5. That is because In The Night jumped (7-5) to claim a second week at its peak of 5. Ed Sheeran is still going strong as his hit, Photograph, charts its 24th consecutive week in the top 10. Tori Kelly had some good gains this week. Hollow jumps (16-8) and Unbreakable Smile jumps (20-11). Notable Songs Outside The Top 1013. Stitches (-8) (Lost its year-end momentum) 15. Should've Been Us (+10) (Another big gain for Tori) 38. Out Of The Woods (+27) (Expect this to jump into the top 20 next week) 91. Renegades (-29) (This is free-falling now) Tags: @jakelmmrs44 yuh yuh House Lannister surfy @markg94 matteeeb born Unhinged Daryl the Beryl fearlessarrow List of best possible contenders for the next #11. twenty one pilots- Stressed Out (97%)2. All of those should have a good chart run this year (especially the first 3 that you mentioned). The Tori songs appeared because I listened to the album again after her performance of "Funny" on Jimmy Kimmel.

MTS TOP 100 SONGS | JANUARY 17, 2016 | WEEK 34 | SEASON 2 A new #1 with a big lead. Tori Kelly gets her 2nd top 10 hit in only 2 weeks. A brand new number 1, and this one might be here to stay for a while. Stressed Out (by twenty one pilots) has just reached number 1 and this week's battle wasn't even near close. Stressed Out's lead over #2 is 324k points. The scary thing for the other songs on the chart is that Stressed Out should keeping gaining even more. This song could be looking at 1 million+ points next week. Only 2 songs have done it. Adele's "Hello" did on its debut week and Justin Bieber's "Purpose" did it on its 2nd AND 3rd week on the chart. Close Far behind at #2 (rising 3-2) is Justin Bieber's " Sorry" and close behind that is " I'll Show You" (also by Bieber) which rising up one spot from #4 to #3. The Weeknd had a good and bad week on this chart. In The Night moves up (5-4) and gets a new peak, while The Hills falls from #1 down to #13. The Hills fell mostly due to the fact that its momentum from year-end had died off. Tori Kelly, on the other hand, had a great week. Hollow slides (8-5) into the top 5, and Unbreakable Smile jumps (11-8) and gives Tori her 2nd top 10 hit. Falling Slow rises 68-30 and Funny jumps 67-35. Her only weaknesses were her already dying hit " Nobody Love" (which slipped 55-67) and Should've Been Us (falling 15-17). Should've Been Us would've gone up to number 14 if it wasn't for the songs that had big jumps and landed somewhere in front of it. Justin Bieber claims the 2 positions right behind #5. Purpose stays at #6 and Love Yourself jumps 12-7. Once again, Photograph continues the great top 10 run. Falling 7-9 but still going strong. It may face some challengers very soon, but it has held on after all these weeks, so it will probably stay in the top 10 for at least another month. Here is something I never thought would happen. So I go and decide to listen to some other songs by twenty one pilots. One of their songs has entered my top 10 this week. Debuting at #10 is " Ride" by twenty one pilots. I really like this song. Here are the other songs by twenty one pilots that are in the chart List of all non top 10 twenty one pilots that are on this chart:36. Lane Boy (+38) 37. Doubt (New) 50. Car Radio (New) 98. Tear In My Heart (New) List of best possible contenders for the next #11. Justin Bieber- Sorry (44%)2. Justin Bieber- I'll Show You (41%) 3. The Weeknd- In The Night (6%) 4. MTS TOP 100 SONGS | JANUARY 24, 2016 | WEEK 35 | SEASON 2 twenty øne piløts leaving other songs "Stressed Out" as its' lead gets even higher. Yeah, Stressed Out has a huge lead and holds on to the #1 spot for a 2nd week. It managed to get 1.3 million points this week. This should easily be #1 for a while. The rest of the top 3 stood still, but I'll Show You (#3) is closing the gap in the battle for #2. Justin Bieber could be replacing himself at #2 very soon as Sorry (#2) doesn't seem to be gaining or losing much. At #4, is a big gainer. Same Old Love gets a random gain in points and jumps 20 positions (from #24) a new peak. Selena Gomez now has a new highest peaking song (Good For You, her 2nd highest peaking song, peaked at #6). Holding on to #5, and looking to get a new peak, is Hollow by Tori Kelly. Tori Kelly has been, unexpectedly, more successful over the past few weeks. She also has another song that could be looking at a top 10; Falling Slow jumps (30-21). The Weeknd slips out of the top 5 this week, as In The Night backtracks from #4 to #6. Don't know how this song will perform over the next couple months, but it's possibility of hitting number has decreased. At #7, is another big gainer. Here finally reaches the top 10 and grabs a new peak. Both SOL and Here should fall next week. Back-to-back Justin Bieber at #8 and #9. Love Yourself slips (7-8) and Purpose falls behind it as it retreats (6-9). At #10 is Photograph by Ed Sheeran. It sure came close to leaving the top 10 this week. I don't know how much longer this can hold on. I'd say 5 weeks at most, mainly because of newer songs climbing rapidly. By the way, this is Photograph's 25th week in the top 10. A threat for the top 10 next week is at #11 this week. It has the hot shot debut of this week: Snakehips (ft. Tinashe & Chance The Rapper) got a nice debut with their new hit, All My Friends. This song should see great success on this chart. FULL CHART List of best possible contenders for the next #11. Justin Bieber- I'll Show You (42%) 2. Justin Bieber- Sorry (40%) 3. Snakehips ft. MTS TOP 100 SONGS | JANUARY 31, 2016 | WEEK 36 | SEASON 2 Do we already have a new number 1? Also, Flo Rida re-enters the top 10.
I can't believe I'm saying am going to say this, but Stressed Out has fallen to #2 after JUST 2 WEEKS at #1. What could've possibly gotten over 1 million points and knocked Stressed Out back to #2? ZAYN's first single PILLOWTALK debuts at #1, just 2 days after it's release. This was a very close battle. Both of these songs battled it out. This was a very hard decision because I liked both of these songs a lot in this chart week. But, I ended up going with PILLOWTALK since I've been obsessed with it since it got released. It was the more accurate choice too. But, the fact that this song got a total of 1.347 million points in just 2 chart days is absolutely amazing. Now let's talk about Stressed Out. What are the chances of it returning to #1? If it does, when will it? Will it still be able to have a long run at the top? Here are some answers: It has a great chance of returning to number 1. PILLOWTALK should have 2-4 weeks at #1 and then Stressed Out will take over again. One thing I can say as of now is that PILLOWTALK and Stressed Out should be the top 2 for a couple months. It looks like they might be replacing each other at number 1 a few times in the next couple months. But after all of this is said and done, Stressed Out should have more weeks at #1 then PILLOWTALK. Alright, now onto the songs that will have little to no chance at number 1 for the next couple months. #3 and #4 are claimed by Justin Bieber this week. Sorry falls (2-3) and I'll Show You falls (3-4) mainly because of PILLOWTALK debuting. What actually did happen between these 2 songs? Anything? Yes! I'll Show You closed the gap from 29k to 5k points. Next week, it will be a close battle. Both songs have a good chance for the top 3 next week. At #5, once again, is Tori Kelly's hit single, Hollow. Poor Tori can't get past #5. Maybe it can next week. With Tori's album repack, she could get enough points to jump right in between the Justin songs and get #4 or she might even get past both and snatch the #3 spot from Bieber. Speaking of the Biebs, Love Yourself rises (8-6). I don't see it being in that battle for #3 next week, but it should be able to hold on to its' momentum. But it could get passed by... ...Snakehips' new hit, All My Friends (which rises from its' debut position of #11 to #7). Snakehips is new to this chart, but is already in the top 10. I expect this to be a good contender for #1 after the whole PILLOWTALK/Stressed Out thing is done. BUT that's if it is still strong by then. Gaining 19 positions this week is Flo Rida's single, My House. This time around, it looks to be staying in the top 10 and not leaving so soon. At #9 is The Weeknd. In The Night is his latest hit, on this chart, and it seems to be losing a bit of its momentum. I don't know how this is going to do over the next few months, but I don't think it will just die completely. At #10 is Justin Bieber's non-single smash hit, Purpose. It became the first non-single to top the chart and now it seems to be just holding on to the top 10 spot, as it slips and falls (8-10). The song that came really close to the top 10 this week, rising 13-11, is Selena Gomez's latest single, Hands To Myself. Less than 1k points away, but it just came up short. It still has a lot more time left and it should definitely hit the top 10 in the coming weeks. Amazing jump for My House this week and for Same Old Lovr, Never Forget You and Cake By The Ocean the previous week! The bolded songs will have good jumps in the week 37 chart. The week 37 chart should be posted tonight or tomorrow. Once I get week 37 posted, I will be completely caught up on my weekly chart updates

OMG @ the points of Purpose on its debut week... It's a really good song? Piano songs hit me right in the heart (at least some of them). The song, however, is starting to fade in my chart. The whole points thing isn't completely accurate for any week before 2016. PILLOWTALK either would've had almost the same amount of points or more points than Purpose's debut week. I mean, even if PILLOWTALK's debut week was only 2 days (Friday and Saturday because of Sunday being chart release date), it was still strong enough. On the adjusted 2016 scale, Purpose would've maybe clocked in a total between 1.4m and 1.5m Also, I notice that piano songs tend to die out on me quicker than most songs do.

MTS TOP 100 SONGS | FEBRUARY 7, 2016 | WEEK 37 | SEASON 2
ZAYN keeps #1, Stressed Out is still close behind. Also, Tori Kelly has a great week. So, let's talk about #1 and #2. ZAYN's brand new single, PILLOWTALK, debuted at #1 last week. It got that #1 by getting 1,347,000 points in just 2 days. 1,347,000 points should be an easy #1, but it wasn't. This week was a bit of an easier week for PILLOWTALK, but next week could be harder. It mainly was getting this big of a lead because of the remainder of the first week points.
Stressed Out is staying at #2 this week, but could take the #1 spot next week. Well, PILLOWTALK also could hold on to that #1 spot. It will be close. Looking into the future, the top 2 spots could be held by PILLOWTALK and Stressed Out for as much as 10+ weeks. Wow!
Enough with the top 2, let's get to the rest of the chart. #3 is still Sorry, but I'll Show You is still looking to pass it soon. Now if I'll Show You is #6 (dropped from #4 to #6) right now, why am I talking about it passing #3? Well look at #4 and #5
Both the #4 and #5 spots are being held by Tori Kelly, who just released her album repack. Hollow jumps (5-4) to finally get a new peak. Unbreakable Smile jumps (13-5) to barely get a top 5 peak. These gains were mostly because of the album repack. That basically means that her songs should drop next week. (Oh yeah, she has one more song in the top 10 that you will see in a bit.)
We already mentioned that I'll Show You is going strong at #6. #7 is All My Friends, which marks a 2nd week at this spot. Justin Bieber's latest single (as of now), Love Yourself, drops (6-8) but still stays strong. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for this song and its' chart run. Flo Rida's My House drops (8-9).
Like I said, Tori Kelly has another song in the top 10 this week. Falling Slow jumps from #23 and claims a top 10 peak. Tori really killed it this week. 3 top 10 songs, and 2 of them aren't even that new (the newer one is Hollow).
Notable songs from outside the top 10 12. Troye Sivan- Youth: This song debuts just outside the top 10, but looks like it could be a top 10 hit soon.
13. Lukas Graham- 7 Years: This song jumped all the way from #78 to #13. This is basically guaranteed to hit the top 10 next week.
15. Mike Posner- I Took A Pill In Ibiza: This jumps 38 spots and is also looking at a top 10 next week. (The remix is the one charting but I just dont feeling like adding "SeeB Remix" to the name.)
76. Rihanna ft. Drake- Work: At first, I hated this song. Now, it has grown on me a bit (especially since I can understand more of what she is saying) and this could have a good chart run, but it isn't going to be a top 10 hit (unless the video is so good that it can get a huge boost into the top 10 from it).
