Loved her performance on SNL. It was so great seeing her stand there and SING without all the silliness that sometimes clouds performances like all the dancers, costuming and lighting. It seems people really love seeing a singer stand and sing a gorgeous song. And a lot of times an incredible amount of experience, talent, skill, and effort goes into creating elaborate performances that you denigrate as "silly".

#1 on day 30 for Hello, compared to day 32 for Roar and day 54 for Shake It Off (I thought SIO moved way faster than that...). Day-umn... Also day 46 for What Do You Mean Just crazy. Born This Way took over 40 days despite going top six in a week.

The performances I am referring to are the big production numbers where artists often have to lip sync since they are running, dancing and doing everything on stage except sing. Yes I agree there is a lot of rehearsal time and practice to get the big production numbers done and coordination with dancers and lighting but it was a pleasure to watch Adele just stand at the mike and SING.

Maybe I'm getting old but I will take someone singing live by themselves or with a couple of dancers over a big production with dancers/moving sets etc with the artist lipsyncing or having a backing track basically takeover even when their trying to sing. There's only a few artists in my opinion that can have a big production and lipsync and still be entertained. I guess they have to be bigger than the production and at times a lot of these new entertainers are not.

I find it funny how these days, in order to appreciate one artist or performer, it can only be done by diminishing other artists. If there was a point when 95% of live performances on TV, award shows, etc, were stand-and-sings, we'd be craving big production numbers. It's all about contrast. Right now, Adele is one of the few stand-and-sings so we're in awe of her because of it. But small productions or big productions, the goal is to entertain. There just so happens to be more than one way to do that.

I like some big productions but not when the artist can't keep up and the production is bigger than them. I guess that would mean their stage presence stinks. Some of these newer artists almost get lost in them and feel the need to lipsync when they don't have to etc, etc. I'm not saying I prefer every singer to just stand there and sing. I don't mind a little something. I will take a show of artists who can entertain just by singing, light dancing maybe and engaging the audiance than a show with big productions with artists who get lost in them. Leaving you to think "how are they even famous"?

Sorry, I know I quoted you but I didn't mean to imply you were. I often see it in general comments on Facebook or in conversation in regards to a performer like Adele or Celine snatching wigs, and it always becomes a commentary on how that's "real music" or whatever. Something that implies that anyone who doesn't do that isn't talented or what-have-you.

Don't get me wrong I like a big production number sometimes but lately it seems like their getting to big for some of these newer performers. LoL, at your Celine comment. After she was done performing I looked at my mother and said some of the boards I visit are going to be going on and on saying that's how a performance should be done! LoL

The question is, how high will she go in AI and spins before she peaks?

The Pop Panel got a boost? -_- Great, just what we needed: More spin inflation at the top of the charts.

Considering pop panel got a boost lately, I think she'll top around 21,000 No. The current SPS record holder's numbers would translate to ~20040 spins with the current panel. To get 21000 spins, the SPS would be astronomical.

^ Bizarre and kind of crap update. I *refuse to believe the Hot AC update and obviously AC won't be coming back very, very strong soon *ESP after the holidays. By then though it'll prob. have peaked on pop so depending on how huge the pop lead is, once AC and Hot AC wake up again, that may be enough of a firewall to keep it at #1 well into next year. Sales and streaming are just too high for it to surrender to Sorry. Even though seems Sorry is its biggest competition. This 'may' end up another Mark Ronson/Ed Sherean (spelling?) situation by the time all is said/done. lol. I was kind of meh about the song at first but most def. grew on me. Not RITD epic/great but prefer it to SLY and esp. SFTR. Positively get the hype and why it was a perfect first single. I'd just really love to see someone like Adele and a song like this be the one to finally get 17 weeks and break a 20 year record! She's smashing every record left/right..why not longest #1 single ever.

I can digest "Hello" breaking that record far more than the dreadful "Uptown Funk" last year, but still, I don't want to deal with ANY song being shoved down our throats for 17 weeks...

What happened with Hot AC? Panel change probably. Only 14 songs gained spins, and only 1 song gained spins in the top 10, and 3 in the top 20.

The video now has ~491.5 million views. Will pass 500 million views tomorrow! 500 million views in a little less than 5 weeks is insane! Should pass 1 billion views by January. I think it has a chance of hitting 2 billion views by the end of next year.
