It's Adele. It's no better or worse than 21. It will do well.

What's the one-day spin record? 1838 spins for "Born This Way." (h/t Adam (UTR)) I feel like she can beat that. For a first day update, yeah, I'm pretty sure that's still the record. However, Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" did 2,129 spins in its second day (after its partial hourly premiere the previous day.) That being said, this day will still rank up there. Gorgeous song. #4 on iTunes now.

It's really beautiful, even though it doesn't really represent a progression from her (which is to say: it's a very wise choice for a first single). I hope she gets a little more experimental on this album.

If you would have told me that she'd come back with her best song to date, I'd have laughed in your face....but she did just that. Ridiculously strong return.

She better incorporate that interacial love. The video is most active yet, and the song is great, it's like her vocals were never chopped. Plus, it's definitely radio ready.

I also get that the music I generally enjoy doesn't particularly work or do well on CHR, and I get baffled at the success of many pop hits. But this puts shameful hits like Blurred Lines and Uptown Funk to further shame, so if those songs get an inexplicable 10ish weeks at #1, this should get 15. I know that probably won't happen, but you should see my point here.

This is fucking amazing, well worth the wait, best song of the year, etc. She already had me from the first "hello" but as soon as that chorus hit... wow. Brilliant.
I'm not even going to try and compare it to her hits from 21 because I'm not sure that I can actually rank them, lol. They're all fantastic.

The song is immaculate. The video is great. Queen Adele ushers in the return of the flip phone!

It's a nice song, but I can't honestly the greatness. It definitely doesn't have the wow factor that "Rolling In the Deep" had and I don't find it to be catchy.
Whatever though, slay I guess..

"Hello from the other side," because I'm deceased. Utterly fantastic. Her vocals sound so great on this too - such a pure, rich tone especially in the chorus and "bridge" (if you can call it that - that's maybe my only initial complaint).

More hourly airplay - these may not be for all stations in each conglomerate, but it gives a sense of how many stations are committing to it:
Corus CHR:
SiriusXM The Spectrum (AAA):
Radio One CHR:
Cox CHR:
VH1 (throughout the morning):
Midwest CHR:
Bell Canada HAC:

So, those stations are going to give this hourly play despite not being a part of the deal, is that correct?

I like this. Reminds me sooo much of when all the big vocalists rushed their big ballads out in time for Christmas in the 90's. The chorus is slower than I thought it'd have been from the 6 second clip, which I was disappointed by, but two listens in and it's already stuck in my head as I'm trying to listen to other music.
For sure a huge #1 Hot 100 hit based on this hype, but I wonder if it'll be able to stay there for weeks or weeks or not.
At any rate, she seems unbothered by the pressure. Very confident singing right here!

Also, such marketing genius to have subtle talking throughout the whole video so people who watch it on repeat are still forced to buy it (as it's not listenable on Spotify yet).

It's very Adele, it's very pretty. Not as massive as some of her 21 singles, but it will obviously be successful. I just hope for something a bit more adventurous for the following singles.

I'm not a huge Adele fan though I did buy her last cd. I like this song but I don't think it's as great as some are making it out to be. I also don't find her voice to be the next best thing as sliced bread as some make her out to be. Perhaps it's because a lot of people are used to what they here on the radio but I have heard a decent amount of people who are just as good as her. I think "Someone Like You" is far more emotional than this if we are comparing the two. Again this is coming from someone who was never THAT into her so I guess I can see where many may disagree with me. LoL

I think "Someone Like You" is far more emotional than this if we are comparing the two.Totally agree. Imo, ADELE is singing in a tone of "We've been done for a while, I'm over you, but I will call to check on you as a friend."
