Going through all the songs that haven't been made available on iTunes this is shaping up to be one of, if not, my favorite McGraw albums ever.

He's always had a modern twist/progressive edge to that traditional side don't get me wrong, but nonetheless. That being said I do find it funny that it now seems that Tim McGraw is the traditional country guy now. As far as the record goes I love it. Love the creativity in Humble and Kind as well as Love Runs. Probably my favorite record from McGraw in his big machine era. He just seems to keep getting better.

Is the deluxe version of this strictly a digital thing, or will I be able to find it at someplace like Target or Walmart?

Just want to clarify, I am pretty sure the deluxe is widely available there. I know you can preorder the deluxe from his website, which you usually cannot do with retailer exclusives, and the page for the album on the Target website says nothing about exclusivity. I used to like retailer-exclusive deluxe editions, but there have been so many lately that I can barely keep track of them and it has become especially infuriating considering I have to import most of them. Ignore that last rant - but, to answer the original question, I think you can find the deluxe edition at any retailer that still carries physical albums.

I was sure that I had read it was Target only. Glad to know that it's not. The retailer-exclusive deluxe editions are driving me nuts, too. It's so hard (and expensive!) to get them here.

I think it's a good album but, unfortunately, i don't like the first single. In your opinion what will be the "shotgun rider" (a hit single for him on radio and itunes) of this album? The "diamond rings and old barstools" this time I think just the title track. Surely Tim McGraw keeps sounds of country music more than other artists already too pop oriented.

With Eric Church's surprise album and Chris Stapleton's sudden spike in sales, this is not good for Tim McGraw's new release. It also didn't help that he was MIA on the CMAs. Anyone know why he didn't perform? That would have really helped his sales considering the album came out 2 days later. Coming off the awards show, I can't help but think that this album is going to get lost in the shuffle.

I have only listened to the Itunes previews, but this sounds very good. I'll buy it later and give it a thorough listen this weekend. But upon first listen, it sounds very traditional, even more so than last album. Which is a good thing. I think Tim has found his wheelhouse. I would love for the title track to be a single, but damn does "Don't Make Me Feel At Home" sound stunning. Even the 30 second preview sounds fantastic. Sounds like a song from 1993-1994 era, so good.

I've sampled this album a couple times (I'll be picking it up tonight at Target). Anyway, this sounds like a really good album based off of those previews. I hate to give much of an opinion at this point since they're only previews, but these are the songs that stood out for me based on that:
"Here Tonight" "How I'll Always Be" "Damn Country Music" "Love Runs" "Don't Make Me Feel At Home" "Humble and Kind"
With most mainstream country albums I've heard this year, the lead single usually ends up being my least favorite song on the album, and that's certainly the case with this album. "Top Of The World" sounded really out of place and really didn't fit in with the album IMO, and was a really weird pick for a lead single considering there's actually more radio ready tracks here that balance Tim's style with what radio wants nowadays.
I'll edit this post later with my thoughts after hearing the album.

I'm disappointed that Walmart didn't have this today. I'll just order it on Anazon, like I should have just done all along.

Love: Here Tonight How I'll Always Be Damn Country Music Love Runs What You're Lookin' For Don't Make Me Feel Home California Humble and Kind
Like: Want You Back
Mediocre: Losin' You Top Of The World
As is the case with every Tim McGraw Big Machine album, the lead single sticks out like a sore thumb. I'll most likely always scratch my head at Tim's lead single choices from here on out, but if it leads to good albums like this, I'll take it.
The album features McGraw's signature country-pop sound on tracks like "Here Tonight", "Losin' You", "Love Runs", "What You're Lookin' For", "Want You Back" and "California". With the exception of "Losin' You", I feel he pulls off every track well here (Losin' You isn't horrible, just overproduced). I especially like "Love Runs" for its infectious melody. I'm a tad confused as to why Big & Rich is credited on "California" since I really don't hear them at all. I still like the song though.
And then of course, we have the amazing traditional songs like "How I'll Always Be", "Damn Country Music", "Don't Make Me Feel At Home" (holy crap, what a song...), and "Humble and Kind". All of these are just excellent additions to McGraw's discography.
Overall, it's a cut above Two Lanes and Sundown, which I felt were good albums in their own right, but this album is his most cohesive for Big Machine thus far. I give it a light 8 out of 10.
And of course, I'll play the ranking game:
1. Don't Make Me Feel At Home 2. Damn Country Music 3. Love Runs 4. Humble and Kind 5. Country and Western (bonus) 6. Here Tonight 7. What You're Lookin' For 8. Kiss A Girl (bonus) 9. How I'll Always Be 10. California 11. Everybody's Lookin' (bonus) 12. Want You Back 13. Losin' You 14. Top Of The World

Just got this album and am on my first listen now. So far pretty good! Hard for me to rate all the songs now but really like "Damn Country Music" "What Your Lookin' For" and "Don't Make Me Feel at Home". I'm ready for the next single after "Top of the World"

For me this album was a total disappointment and miles below from the great Sundown Heaven Town. It initially kicks off with the promising "Here Tonight" but it's all downhill after that. Even the traditional leaning "Damn Country Music" and "Don't Make Feel At Home" leave me feeling slightly underwhelmed. There isn't much here that I like and this effort will likely go down somewhere towards the bottom of my favorite Tim albums. Now I'm wishing they hadn't left "Overrated" and "City Lights" on the table before moving on to the next era.
Favorites: "Here Tonight" "Damn Country Music" "How I'll Always Be" "Don't Make Me Feel At Home"
Least Favorites: "Everbody's Lookin'" "Kiss a Girl" "Losin' You" "Top of the World" "What You're Looking' For" "Want You Back" "Love Runs" "Country and Western" "Humble and Kind" "California"

I thought this was a very good album, but also a tier blow SHT. Lyrically and melodically this was superb, but the often heavy handed production prevented this from being a truly great album IMO.

That seems pretty low for Tim, but I guess it makes sense considering the current market and the less than enthusiastic response to "Top Of The World".

After one listen, I'm underwhelmed by this album. The Lori McKenna cover is a stunner, and "Damn Country Music" and "Don't Make Me Feel at Home" are solid, but just about everything else struck me as eminently forgettable.

I like the album, but not quite as much as I was hoping too. I think it's a step down from Sundown Heaven Town (which itself to me was a step down from Two Lanes Of Freedom). There are a number of good songs on here, though. I absolutely love "Humble And Kind" and would love to see it as a single, though I'm not too sure how well that would go over. I also quite like "How I'll Always Be". My other favourites initially are "Here Tonight", "Don't Make Me Feel At Home", "California" and "Damn Country Music".
I imagine the singles will look like this:
1. Top Of The World 2. California 3. How I'll Always Be 4. What You're Lookin' For
Though I would prefer:
1. Top Of The World (well, not really, but what's done is done) 2. Humble And Kind 3. How I'll Always Be 4. Don't Make Me Feel At Home
"Top Of The World" is a weak link on here, but I get why it was the lead single (unlike his last two leads). It's not a bad song, but there are much better on the album.

The one thing that strikes me for some reason is that "Here Tonight" would be a great winter into spring single.

"California" could be this era's "Shotgun Rider" IMO, the song that's a huge commercial success that radio eats up with a spoon.

Just picked the Deluxe version of this up at Target yesterday. This might be Tim's best album to date. After such a disappointing album from Chris Young, this is refreshing. I think that every song fits really well within the context of the album's theme. There truly isn't a song I don't like. I was on the fence about "Top Of The World," but now I don't mind it. It's strange, but true. Here are my rankings (for now): - How I'll Always Be
- Humble And Kind
- Damn Country Music
- Here Tonight (feat. Gracie McGraw)
- What You're Lookin' For
- Love Runs
- Don't Make Me Feel At Home
- Kiss A Girl (Deluxe)
- California (with Big & Rich)
- Want You Back
- Losin' You
- Everybody's Lookin (Deluxe)
- Country And Western (Deluxe)
- Top Of The World
I would actually put this album above Sundown Heaven Town because "Lookin' For That Girl" really put a wrench in the album for me. It's a solid album, but that song was a disaster.
5/5 on this new one though.

I love the song, but with some of his recent albums I just can't help but crack up when I hear the lyric "I'm a little more ol' Hank Williams than that trendy crap" in "How I'll Always Be"...I mean, let's be real for a second here (Lookin' For That Girl, Truck Yeah...)
