Just a quick note, last week at the 88% update Carrie was at ~124,000; which was approximately 75% of her final sales (164k). This week at 88% she's at ~47,000, so an additional 25% (assuming 75% of her sales have been reported) would bring her physical sales to about 60k-62k. Add another ~10k (streaming), she's looking at approximately 70k this week. Not too shabby!
Also, is anyone able to guess where these numbers are from? iTunes? Or are they physical?... Is there a way of knowing or guessing?

Is there a way of knowing or guessing? That's not how it works. 75% doesn't mean that 3/4 of sales are reported. It's just a made up number to drive clicks as far as we know. The updates don't track to any particular sources.

The updates don't track to any particular sources. Re-read my post. I wasn't talking about 75% being reported from HDD. Just that at 88% reported from HDD, approximately 3/4 (75%) of her final sales were reported. So I just applied that same thing to this week, which closely matches their latest prediction for Carrie.

I think he is saying the percent updates mean nothing. Just because 75% sales at been reported at the 88% update last week does not mean it will happen again this week.
He is correct. For all we know the hits update % is a random number generator designed to drag out the reveal of the final numbers and entertain their readers

I realize that. But because it actually worked out perfectly in line with their prediction for Carrie, I thought it was worth noting.

Damn, I am a fool. I got overly excited with what areyoureadytojump posted until I realized it was the HDD projection and not actual Soundscan numbers. I should get my head checked. Anyway, this is quite impressive for Chris Stapleton, and I wonder how his album will hold up over the rest of the year.

Absolutely mesmerized by all of this. Between the current Adele storm and Stapleton scoring this week's #1, the flow and success of genuinely fantastic music is so promising and relieving.
I'm thrilled that Underwood will likely maintain a Top 3 position, as well! Really well-softened second week drop; her team planned this intelligently for the CMAs, and I'm sure they probably had their eyes set on the #1, but I don't think anyone can be ultra-disappointed about it not getting there when given this awesome situation.

Looks like Carrie would have been #1 if Chris and Eric Church did not blow up: www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6753816/chris-stapleton-traveller-albums-chart-cma-awardsChris Stapleton's 'Traveller' Album Heading for No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart After CMA TriumphBy Keith Caulfield | November 05, 2015 The singer's album may re-enter atop the chart, following his three CMA wins & show-stopping performance with Justin Timberlake. Country singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton is heading for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with his CMA Award-winning Traveller. The set -- his debut effort -- is basking in the glow of Stapleton's three CMA wins on Nov. 4, in addition to his show-stopping medley with Justin Timberlake. Remarkably, if it does hit No. 1, it would do so by re-entering atop the list after being absent from the tally since September. Industry forecasters suggest Traveller could earn upward of 100,000 equivalent album units in the tracking week ending Nov. 5 -- with most of those units generated after the start of the CMA Awards broadcast on Nov. 4. More than 75,000 of that sum could be driven by pure album sales. (Also helping Traveller: It's priced for only $6.99 in the iTunes Store.) The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new Nov. 21-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Stapleton could be No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, Nov. 8. Traveller debuted and (so far) peaked at No. 14 on the May 23, 2015-dated chart, and has been absent from the list following the Sept. 26 tally. The album has sold 96,000 copies in the U.S. through Oct. 29, according to Nielsen Music. Traveller won the CMA Award for album of the year, while Stapleton took home both the best new artist and male vocalist of the year trophies (all three of the categories he was nominated for this year). In other CMA-related action, Eric Church's surprise new album Mr. Misunderstood could debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. The set was commercially released exclusively through the iTunes Store on Nov. 4 without advance promotion. Church opened the CMA Awards, collaborating with Hank Williams Jr. on the latter's new song "Are You Ready for the Country." Church later returned to the show to perform the new album's title track. CMA Awards co-host Carrie Underwood could make the top three of the Billboard 200 a totally country affair, as her Storyteller could nab the No. 3 slot on the new chart. It debuted at No. 2 this past week, and could move around 70,000 in total units in the week ending Nov. 5.

I think Chris and Eric actually helped Carrie. Obviously one or both will likely be blocking Carrie from the top spot, but the exposure they received likely helped move some albums for her, too. I do wonder, though, if they'll all be much closer in sales than Billboard and HDD are leading on? The word "could" makes quite a few appearances in that statement, leading me to believe they aren't overly confident in the order Chris, Eric, and Carrie will finish in. The only number they're confident with is Carrie's, but it seems they don't have a ton of data to go off of for Eric and Chris. Nevertheless, I'm super anxious to see how all this pans out, can't wait for tomorrow.... and Monday for the official numbers!

Chris Stapleton is undoubtedly #1.

hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=298370Friday, November 6, 2015 I LEFT MY CHART IN MUSIC CITYNashville Acts Storm Retail Post-CMAs Thanks to an unprecedented series of events, three Country acts dominate the charts this week. Chris Stapleton’s career-defining moment on last week’s CMA Awards rocketed his Traveller (Mercury Nashville)—which was released in May—to #1 honors, earning 145k on the HITS Album Sales Chart and 170k on the Sales Plus Streaming (SPS) Chart. The soulful Nashville singer/songwriter not only won Male Vocalist, Best New Artist and Album of the Year, but also provided the night's biggest performance moment: a chill-inducing duet with Justin Timberlake. For perspective, Stapleton’s set saw a 4,000% surge and sold more in slightly more than one day than it had moved RTD. In another show-stopping moment, EMI Nashville’s Eric Church pulled a sneak attack, dropping his previously unscheduled fifth studio album, Mr. Misunderstood; the new set grabs the #2 spot this week with 79k. 19/Arista Nashville’s Carrie Underwood, meanwhile, sought to take advantage of the night’s big look and lowered the price of her Storyteller to $5.99 for a shot at #1. Consequently, Church and Underwood went head-to-head; she takes the #3 album perch with 77k and #2 honors at SPS. And to think, two days ago, the leading contender for #1 was NOW/UMe’s Now 56. The latest installment of the compilation franchise ended up at #4 with 61k. Other leading debuts include Mailboat’s Def Leppard (#5), Verve’s We Love Disney (#6)—a star-studded compilation album—Columbia’s The Neighbourhood (#7), RCA/Legacy’s Elvis Presley (#8)—for a greatest hits set with accompaniment from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra—and Warner Bros.’ Chris Janson (#10). Also enjoying CMA-related bumps: Warner Nashville’s Blake Shelton, Capitol Nashville’s Little Big Town—who tied with Stapleton for most wins—MCA Nashville’s Sam Hunt, RCA Nashville’s Miranda Lambert and Blue Chair/Columbia Nashville’s Kenny Chesney—whose Apple Music ad cased a whole lot of hubbub. But wait. We haven’t even stopped to talk about Adele once yet. Blasphemy! After re-entering the chart last week and powered by the massive buzz surrounding XL/Columbia’s Queen of Pop and her fast-approaching 25, predecessor 21 scored another 12k in album sales and 21k at SPS. Who are these people who don't already have it? Streeting this week are albums from Cherrytree/Interscope’s Ellie Goulding, Big Machine’s Tim McGraw, RCA Nashville’s Old Dominion and SYCO’s Little Mix, along with a special addition of Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour (Capitol), the physical copies of Ryan Adams’ 1989 (Blue Note) and Bob Dylan’s best-of bootleg—out via Legacy/Columbia.

LMAO at Carrie heavily discounting at 5.99 and she still can't get #1. I'm just glad Chris blocked Carrie. The 5.99 discount on 2nd week seems a bit too desperate.

^Not at all. 2nd week discounts happen all the time.
Chris Stapleton's album was discounted as well.
EDIT:
5 Seconds of Summer bombed in its 2nd week.

145k + 96k = Chris Stapleton's new pure album sales total of 241,000
He'll get a Gold album out of this. Maybe Platinum?!

Great sales for Janet. Carrie isn't doing anything other artists can't do. Troll comment. For that matter, she's not doing anything the guy who got #1 didn't do himself. If this is what Stapleton did with just one day I wonder how his sales will look next week? Could he possibly pull off #1 two weeks in a row? Seems like his buzz is still pretty strong.

Everybody discounts it's not cheating. Hell, Shakira was marketed down the whole time she was on the voice. And wasn't event full price release week(was marked down to $7.99 I believe)
