I'm just loving the Stonebridge Mix of this track! It's pretty decent. I wish there were some more vocals on this version. Label: Rootz Holland Cat Number: RTZ 013 Original Mix Alex Romano & Olav Basoski Remix| Stonebridge Mix www.juno.co.uk/products/188565-01.htm

Stonebridge never fails to please me. :) Is this a remake? I've heard this song before, just not with either artists (or DJays).

Stonebridge never fails to please me. :) Is this a remake? I've heard this song before, just not with either artists (or DJays). Ah to be young! Johnny Kemp is the original artist. Song Review by Ed Hogan Johnny Kemp's "Just Got Paid" was originally one of the many songs in the sizable catalog of prolific producer/songwriter Teddy Riley. A chance meeting on the street between Kemp and singer Keith Sweat was the first step in the making of a number one hit. Sweat invited Kemp to come with him to Riley's house to listen to tracks that would be included on Sweat's upcoming album. Riley gave Kemp a copy of the instrumental track for "Just Got Paid" as a guide for Kemp to write verses for the song. Sweat took a pass on the song, so Kemp decided to record the song on himself. The final version of the song was recorded at Kashif's home studio with Kemp recorded what he thought was a "scratch vocal" β a temporary vocal track used as a guide to complete the track, never intended to be included on the commercially released version. As it turns out, the scratch vocal was what is heard on the single release. Listeners not only connected to the track through its funky, loping groove, but also they related to its common-man payday aspirations of going out and having a good time. An early new jack swing classic, the funky "Just Got Paid" went gold, holding the number one R&B spot for two weeks and making it to number ten pop in spring 1988.

*NSYNC also covered this song on No Strings Attached. I think a dance version would sound hot.

LMAO! I feel really ignorant about music older than like 1999, even though in the eyes of my peers I'm like a music "god". Thanks though.

Great song. Can't wait to listen to the whole thing! The Stonebridge one is a good mix, but there's not enough vocals. And the Original Mix is good, and has much more vocals. And the other one is just totally funky! Love it!
