I'll be the voice of dissent, but this album is average and has nothing interesting going for it. Maybe I'll listen to it again to have a better opinion of it.and now i like it more |

Don't want to bump this unnecessarily.
I have been listening to this repeatedly and it gets better each time.
There's so much going on and to discover in all the compositions. Again, both thumbs UP! :)

Most of the time I seem to put down The Highway for their questionable playlist (and they deserve it, imo) but situations like tonight is why I absolutely love owning a Sirius/XM radio.
They played the latest installment of Outsiders Radio. It's when Eric comes in and plays whatever the heck he wants, once a month. Well tonight, Eric and some of his co-writers hosted the show and played all the tracks on Mr. Misunderstood and even played some demos of a track or two and I even heard Eric play "Funkabilly" by Joanna Cotten, who helps with backing vocals. Some of the greatest radio, I've ever heard. Absolutely loved it and the conversations of how quickly some of the songs on this album came together are fascinating. If anyone has a Sirius/XM subscription and likes Eric, it's a must listen!
After hearing this album a few time, I say my favorites are:
"Mr. Misunderstood"
"Knives Of New Orleans"
"Round Here Buzz"
"Record Year"
"Kill A Word"
"Kill A Word" is great and probably my favorite song on the album.

The only two I don't like on the album are the title track and especially "Mixed Drinks About Feelings".
The rest of the songs are some of my favorites of the year.

This album is absolutely fantastic. Not a bad song on the album (though "Chattanooga Lucy" isn't great), and just a bit below Chief for me. Definitely a five star, A-level album for me.

Eric said his favorite track is "Mistress Named Music" and it might be his favorite track he has ever recorded.

I've been listening to this album almost nonstop since it was released and it's easily one of the best albums of the year. It's authentic, raw, and just something that artists like Luke and Blake could never pull off. There's not one song on this album that I even think of skipping.
1. Kill A Word (probably my favorite song by Eric)
