This recent UK #1 is an incredibly infectious instrumental, bound to be heard on various voiceovers for commercials and at sporting events for the next year. Definitely gets in your head after a few listens.

At first listen I thought this was stupid, but after hearing it over and over on BPM, I've grown to like it.

This one's the Ibiza theme of the year, along with Eric Prydz's "Call On Me". It's a great dancefloor track and one of those that gets even the most jaded person bopping on the floor!

![](http://www.billboard.com/billboard/photos/daily/2004/33_SinglesShapeshifters.gif) SHAPE: UK Lola's Theme Producer(s): Shapeshifters Writer(s): various Publisher(s): various Genre: DANCE Label/Catalog Number: You/Ultra 022 (CD single) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: August 14, 2004 When released last month in the United Kingdom, the effervescent "Lola's Theme" by Shapeshifters debuted at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Charts Co.'s singles chart. Because a Los Angeles band had the same name, Shapeshifters masterminds Simon Marlin and Max Reich had to alter the name of their act for the States. Enter Shape: UK. Other than that, everything remains the same with "Lola's Theme." The incredibly infectious, disco-splashed track—which samples the late Johnnie Taylor's 1982 R&B hit "What About My Love"—is currently ascending the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. Club DJs and enthusiasts are responding well to its sturdy rhythms, orchestral bursts and soulful wailings of the London Community Gospel Choir's Cookie. Rhythmic and top 40 radio listeners will respond to the track, too; that is, if they even get to hear it.—MP

Thanks for posting this review and the notification that it is a North American release - but with that new moniker! Yuck... We don't usually get Billboard at the same time as the U.S. here in Canada so I haven't seen the August 14 issue yet.

At first listen I thought this was stupid, but after hearing it over and over on BPM, I've grown to like it. Me too. I like the mostly instrumental version of this song that BPM plays. There's a version of this song with full vocal verses that I don't think is quite as good. Took me a while to decipher the lyrics on the chorus of this... "I'm a living poster"? Ohhhhh... "I'm a different person". :)

I heard this song for the first time today and when it started I was thinking "wtf!", but after a while it kinda grew on me. It's pretty good. :)

Yeah at first this seemed like pure cheese, but by the end it worked it's way under my skin.

Ooh yea, I think I know this now, I heard it on z103 the other night.
Have they just started playing it? I don't think so...I think I've heard it before, but it wasn't a big hit...
It's really cool though, I like the disco vibe

but is it new or old, on z103? I could have sworn it was played a few months ago and now is 'old' on there...
At any rate...I LOVE this song! It's just so cool
I hope I hear it at the club tonight!

^^^It's actually fairly new on Z103. It's moving up the chart pretty quickly, this week it actually went from 29 to 19.

You remind me of how my cousins talk, lol. Ya I go clubbing...I'm going to be 20 next week though so I haven't been to an all-ages in almost 2 years. There is going to be an all ages at Palazzo this Sunday because of the long weekend, but I'm sure you already knew about that. Im going to see if my brother or my cousins want to go, maybe I will take them, because some friends of mine said they might go with their younger brother too, but I dunno it seems hurting...lol

LOL @ people not hearing the lyric correctly. I understood it, although it makes no sense to me.
This has really grown on me. It's one of my favorite dance tracks of the year. I agree with Bill that this song sounds like it would be a sporting event favorite. I don't really like the video. It kind of ruins my image of the song.

It's one of those songs where the lyrics are not directly connected. The main chorus of "I'm a different person / Gonna turn my world around" is a very positive vibe to me.

I LOOOOOOVE THIS SONG! I was at the club last night, and they played it about 5 minutes after we walked in...and I said to the people I was with (won't call them "friends") "I love this song!", and this girl (my friend's girlfriend) was like... "This...is the gayest song...ever" Im like...wow, thanks for sharing that eloquent opinion. How old are you, 12? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) It's good to know the majority of 20 year olds are brilliantly mature young adults. they "dont like" house... ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Then later on in the night they played it again, in a different room out on the patio. I was movin' around, enjoying the song because I love it. I heard it on the radio in the car today too! ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0270.gif) "I'm under pressure sir!" LOL that is my favourite and I wish that was the actual lyric because it's more fun for me to say that. I know, it's "I'm a different person"
