Can anyone think of some artists whose first 2-3 singles bombed and they still saw decent future success?
Example I can think of is Brett Eldredge with "Raymond" and "It Ain't Gotta Be Love"
Was chatting about this with a friend for some reason and i'm curious now.

Brantley Gilbert. "My Kind of Crazy" and "Kick It In the Sticks" (first go around) bombed before "Country Must Be Country Wide".

Example I can think of is Brett Eldredge with "Raymond" and "It Ain't Gotta Be Love" "Raymond" got to #22 on MB, so I don't think that fits my definition of bomb, especially considering it was a debut single.

Reba comes to mind immediately! Her career started so softly, I am doubtful she would have ever made it starting out in today's climate... She didn't hit the top 20 until her 8th single release, or the top 10 until her 10th. Her 13th single became her first top 5. And she didn't hit #1 until her 16th single... 1) I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand (Billboard Peak: 88) 2) There's Nothing Like The Love (Between A Woman And A Man) (Billboard Peak: 86) 3) Glad I Waited Just For You (Billboard Peak: 88) 4) I've Waited All My Life For You (Billboard Peak: Didn't Chart)
Martina as well: 1) The Time Has Come (Pk: 23) I guess this song didn't bomb necessarily, but it certainly didn't put her on the map. 2) That's Me (Pk: 43) 3) Cheap Whiskey (Pk: 44)
Sara Evans: 1) True Lies (Pk: 59) 2) Three Chords And The Truth (Pk: 44) 3) Shame About That (Pk: 48)

Well I suppose it's too early to say right now, but I think Chris Stapleton could fit there.
What Are You Listening To only went to #46 and Traveller didn't even chart, and now it looks like "Nobody To Blame" is doing well so....

Little Big Town:
"Don't Waste My Time" and "Everything Changes" never cracked the top 30 on either chart. Three years later they scored their first top 10 with "Boondocks" on Equity Music Group.

Boy I have quite the different view of bomb then most do, lol. Any song that cracked the top 20 is not a bomb to me. It's also worth pointing out that it's very hard for a brand new artist to break out, so a song that peaked at #15 for a debut single is a pretty solid accomplishment. Unfortunately in the age of digital sales meaning everything, artists like The Farm, The Henningsens and the Swon Brothers are considered flops because their songs sold so horribly.

Off topic, but Yelawolfs album is one of my favorite non country albums of the year Agreed. I don't know if I've ever seen an artist make such a big change in their sound that drastically improved it like he did. I mean I used to enjoy his club/party type songs back in the day, but songs like "Til Its Gone" and "American You" are absolute gold IMO. Glad you enjoyed it though! I'll take him over Sam Hunt easily.

Tim McGraw had four singles off his debut album. First was "What Room Was the Holiday In" which didn't chart, followed by three more that missed the 40 (although I believe "Welcome to the Club" hit mid-30s on R&R).
Neal McCoy had a ton of bombs before the one-two punch of "No Doubt About It" and "Wink".
