Sara Evans - Suds In The Bucket (Restless) "Tonight" was the final single from Restless. Good heavens, you're right! I had switched the chronology in my head. I love "Tonight", but talk about a failing follow-up flop!

"Tonight" was the final single from Restless. Good heavens, you're right! I had switched the chronology in my head. I love "Tonight", but talk about a failing follow-up flop! To be honest, it was treated as a hold-over single until they were close enough to release "A Real Fine Place To Start." It probably wasn't the best song choice for radio anyway though..."Rockin' Horse" please! Gary Allan- "Right Where I Need To Be" (from "Smoke Rings In The Dark") Gary Allan- "Life Ain't Always Beautiful" (from "Tough All Over") Kenny Chesney- "Save It For A Rainy Day" (from "The Big Revival") (debatable?)I'd give it to "American Kids". I think you're right, although its really close. Both were huge hits.

Tracy Byrd had this happen twice: "The Keeper of the Stars" was the biggest hit off No Ordinary Man, and "Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo" was the biggest hit off Ten Rounds.

Brooks & Dunn - "You'll Always Be Loved By Me" from Tight Rope Clint Black - "When My Ship Comes In" from The Hard Way (I still hear this quite a bit) Eric Church - "Smoke A Little Smoke" from Carolina Alan Jackson - "It Must Be Love" from Under the Influence Craig Morgan - "This Ain't Nothin'" from That's Why Blake Shelton - "Home" from Pure BS (although you could call BS on this because it was on a re-release of the same album)

Craig Morgan - "This Ain't Nothin'" from That's Why) "Love Remembers" and "Bonfire" (top 10) were both bigger hits than "This Ain't Nothin' (top 15) off 'That's Why.' Chart wise, yes. But I was thinking more in terms of overall hit impact for an album, not necessarily the last singles final chart placement (biggest hit doesn't always equal highest charting song IMO). Basing on recurrent airplay from what I hear, "This Ain't Nothin'" is one of those songs we'll still hear many, many years from now. edit: that's why I included "Smoke A Little Smoke" by Eric Church which charted at #16 while Carolina's first two singles topped out at #10. I still consider "Smoke A Little Smoke" the bigger hit.

I've heard "This Ain't Nothin'" a few times over the past couple years...but I've heard "Bonfire" far more often. I agree that bigger chart success doesn't always equate to overall "bigger hit", but I don't think this fits, imo.

"What I Did Right" by Sons of the Desert (from Change). The song only peaked at #22, but the first singles (Change and Everybody's Gonna Grow Up Sometime) both missed the top 40.

"Stay" - Sugarland
Technically the first 2 singles went #1 and this got stuck at #2, but it was still definitely the most memorable/impactful single from their sophomore era.

Rascal Flatts - "Mayberry" ( Melt) "I miss Mayberry, sitting on the porch drinking ice-cold cherry Coke." I don't know why, but I love that lyric lol. And on a random funny note, my favorite thing at the movie theater is a popcorn with ice-cold cherry Coke

Reba McEntire:
"One Promise Too Late" (from What Am I Gonna Do About You)
This was the third single. I guess it's debatable since both this and the first single (the title track) hit #1, but I would argue that this one is far better remembered nearly 30 years later.

Steve Azar "Sunshine (Everybody Needs A Little)" Hate to nitpick, but there was actually a single after that one that totally bombed.
