We have two reining queens, still going strong today. Donna Summer and Madonna. And there are others like Amber, Reina, Deborah, Kylie. BUT there's no king that I can think of. If anyone has any idea please help.

Hmm, I guess that makes sense. At first I was thinking of Michael Jackson, but he was more pop anyway, although if he had his music out today, it'd likely (and sadly) be cateogrized as dance.
No one comes to mind, although there are some really successful dance/electronica groups and DJ's out there.

Georgie Porgie, Lucas Prata Ewww... if that's true, we're in big trouble! Michael Jackson, was definitely at one point. Even if he stopped recording dance music from scratch, his mixes NEVER disappointed, and he always got the best of the best. Michael Watford was... at least for one year in the mid 90s.

I can't think of a male vocalist off the top of my head; I think the 'king' would probably end up being a famous DJ/producer, e.g., Tiesto, Armin, etc.

Byron Stingly, maybe? Cevin Fisher? They haven't had enough hits though, I guess.

I would say, Sylvester ... but I am not sure if the "King" fits him better than the "Queen".

Yeah, it would probably be a producer because it's just really hard to market a male artist who specializes in dance. Gay men prefer female artists for the most part. When it comes to females, if they like dance, they generally prefer female artists too. The only thing I can think of is that there are/were some popular male freestyle artists.

The top male artist in Billboard's Hot Dance book is.... Pet Shop Boys!!!
For solo artists, Prince actually leads Michael Jackson by 10 points, with Sylvester 500+ points behind.
Other active males on this chart include George Michael, Moby, David Bowie, Jamiroquai, Duran Duran...
Top DJ/remixer is Moby followed by Frankie Knuckles.

TIESTO, Paul Van dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Sasha i would say they are the biggest DJS in the World and most popular
As far as queens Madonna is not even a dance artist. The only single that she has released that i think is authentic dance music is "For A Girl"! "Music" and the other she released arent really dance. Same w/Kylie, she is a pop artist that every now and then release dance singles. Donna Summer is disco which would probably be its own genre and not be put in w/dance
As far as groups or mixers Gabriel and Dresden, 4 strings, delerium there are so many groups or dance artists that only release one single and disappear forever like Wendy Phillips "Stay" nobody heard anything about her after that same w/Motorcycle.

Dance Music is a huge genre, and it includes many different sub-genres. What song is "For A Girl"? As much as I hate "Ray Of Light", that's a dance song. And so is Kylie. What would you call "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", "In Your Eyes" and "Love At First Sight"... rap? country? "Disco" should not be put in dance? Are you serious? Disco is the original dance music. It evoolved from there, so disco is another genre that falls under dance. Disco died in 1980, and while Donna did disco in the 70s, she moved on with the times. She's been doing other types of dance music, such as "This Time I Know It's For Real" (dance/pop), and house music ("Melody Of Love", "I Will Go On With You", "You're Beautiful", etc.).

always did think jacko was more of a queen too. ;)
if we didn't have to strictly stick with vocalists... i might've said "tony moran". LOL.
it's hard to pick just one singular artist who is above all the rest because male-vocaled dance hits have such a short shelf life. and most of them afre "crossover" artists who normally perform in a different genre.
ur right tho. jacko may have the most hits... but what dance choon has he put out lately?? (that was actually any good.)

Seriously David Morales?? Tiesto is known EVERYWHERE! He turns everything he touches into gold. People praise him everywhere. Madonna is not a dance artist. She is pop/dance and the same w/Kylie. I think u r talking more commercial dance/pop stuff here while i'm talking about pure dance like trance, house, techno, euphoric, club music all that originated in Europe and i say it has very little to do w/disco... Madonna has released some club music like "What it feels like For a Girl" but most of her songs are pop/dance. 4 Strings, Motorcycle, Armin Van Buuren, Gabriel And Dresden, and others are COMMERCIAL but they are also pure dance and nobody would call them pop like how they would to madonna

what's the difference between "pure dance" and "commercial dance"?? it's all dance music to me...
in any case, isn't modern techno/trance/rave/acid (or whatever they are calling it these days) the direct descendant of 70's disco (listen to donna and george's "i feel love" and you'll know what i mean.) with hi-nrg as it's sister?? LOL... now if only i can find that dance genre family tree i found years ago on the internet. ;)
please stop panning "commercial dance"... it's probably the biggest bread and butter of this genre after all.
