Reba announced last night in Vegas that this is the 3rd single off of "Love Somebody". The video will be out next month.

Great choice! Since radio most likely won't do much with anything she puts out, I'm glad we're going to get a video for this excellent song. :)

I'm shocked that it took this long to start this thread. Sean posted this news super early this morning about "Just Like Them Horses" being the next single in the 'News and Non-Singles thread and nobody seemed to notice except onebuffalo, lol. The single comes out in January.

Maybe we were all waiting for Sean to start the thread? I was kinda hoping he would, but he doesn't get online a whole lot so I guess there wasn't much faith in that. Anyway, excited to hear another single has been picked! Admittedly this isn't one of my favorites on the record at all, but seeing how "Until They Don't Love You" didn't get any of the love that "Going Out Like That" did, it's obvious country radio isn't really interested in biting so I suppose there's literally no harm in releasing this one (I was originally hoping she'd get another 1 or 2 Top 40 hits off Love Somebody). I imagine this will make for a beautiful video though so I do hope they shot one (and that it wasn't just a pretty backdrop for the Vegas performances), and I'd love to see it get her some attention outside of what country radio will bring it.

I'm not nearly the Reba fan some here are, so I wasn't prepared to steal anyone's thunder. The thread is here, which is all that matters though. :)

So excited to hear that they are releasing another single! I was never super gung-ho when the album came out about this song being a possible single like many other people were, but that is mostly because this album just has SO many songs that are high-quality yet also radio-friendly. This song is spectacular, but I always felt that it would squander any momentum Reba had, resulting in the era being cut short and obvious singles being left as album tracks. However, like indulge said, it is clear that radio is not interested in Nash Icon's singles, so she has absolutely nothing to lose at this point!
I just hope that this is not the last single. They could easily take this album out to 5 or even 6 singles with the options that are left. I imagine they do not cost Nash Icon much promotion money, since they are automatically added by Cumulus and the rest of the stations will barely touch them with or without promotion... In my opinion, they may as well just keep going until Reba has new music ready eventually!

I doubt it really costs them much (especially for singles without a video), so it makes sense to keep going. I'd love to see 5 or 6 singles from this project, as you said. Even though it's not my favourite on the album, I'm still holding out hope that "Enough" becomes a single eventually, especially since Jennifer is now on the same label family. If it's a dual promoted single for both artists, it may stand a chance of being a hit.

In my opinion, they may as well just keep going until Reba has new music ready eventually! Right, but Valory still promotes (or attempts to) Reba's songs to outside Cumulus stations. It still cost money to send songs to radio from Reba's album. It's not nearly the money that is spent on some other singles but to say it doesn't cost much wouldn't be entirely accurate. As for "Enough", I still unfortunately doubt that could be a big hit just because Reba's affiliation. If that was Jenn's song, on her own album, then maybe it can get some substantial airplay, but since Reba's a Nash Icon artist and it's now going to be at least four singles into her album cycle, I just don't think it would do much anyway. It's a shame that Jennifer couldn't have partnered with Big Machine a year or two ago as I'm sure "Enough" would have found its way to radio by now. "Unlove You" goes for adds in January and that would mean that a single release for "Enough" would have to wait until at least mid-2016 and I just don't think BMLG will do that since they're are trying to break Jennifer's solo career and Reba's affiliation might be a big enough deterrent to decide never to release that song.

This has been my favorite song on the CD so I'm glad it's getting released if for no other reason but to be a part of Reba's singles catalogue. And I would love to get a live performance of this on some tv program. I will say that the live concert performance that has made its way to youtube shows that they need to trim the end of the song for radio and any live tv performance. The repeat of "just like them horses" sounds poignant on record but just drags on in the live show.

I like this song well enough. However, I really hope "Enough" doesn't get lost in the politics. It really could be a great song to boost both of them.

Considering both of them are on sister labels, I would hope Scotty takes advantage of the situation. My guess is they throw the duet on Jennifer's album and use the Big Machine label associated with her to push it. That way the other stations will also pick it up.

I'm very happy that this is going to be the 3rd single, I don't think radio is going to do much with it but at this point if she can just keep charting even in the 40's I'd be happy. I want to see her climb higher on the Joel Whitburn point list and a few top 50 singles a year will move her a long as well as can be expected for someone this far into their career!

Liz Hengber sent me a CD of "Just Like Them Horses" while I was listening to songs for my Love Somebody album. The minute I heard it, I knew I wanted it played at Daddy’s funeral. When my producer Tony Brown heard it, he loved it so much, that he insisted on putting it on the album. It made both - the album and Daddy’s funeral, October 2014.
I got the idea for the video one day and knew it was going to be the most meaningful heartfelt video I’d ever do. We shot the entire video in Chockie, OK on the McEntire homeplace. Those old hills mean a lot to me. I lived there 21 years and they still call me back time after time.
This is a song about goodbye, closure and letting go. Mama had to be in the video. She was and still is the glue to our family. Without a doubt, the ranch wouldn’t be what it is today without her. She was the partner, bookkeeper, #1 hired hand, cook, my best friend and as I said, the glue. So many times things could have gone south but she held us all together.
I dedicate this video to Daddy. His life was horses, cattle, land, rodeo and business. Daddy did a lot of traveling in his life. When he wasn’t rodeoing or buying cattle, he was working hard on the ranch. I took him to Europe and Australia. On one of those trips he said, “If I ever get home, I’m not gonna go past the mail box.”
My favorite line of the song is, “Just like them horses, now it’s time to run." He did. He ran all the way to heaven. Just like them horses.

"How do you say goodbye How do you say goodbye to somebody who made you Raised you Taught you Disciplined you Loved you How do you say goodbye"
Well, damn.
Four years since I lost my mom and although I miss her more than anything, it's songs like this that just make me stop and realize how blessed my life still is. Music has that power to heal you and there is no doubt that this song has helped me immensely.
This video is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is just gorgeous, the black and white makes it much more poignant, and the clips with Reba and her mom are truly amazing. I can say, without a doubt, that both this single and video are my favorite from Reba since the mid-90s. No doubt about it.

Exquisitely shot video. I agree with Sean about this being Reba's best song and video in quite some time. And I also agree about the healing power of music as this has been one of the songs that have helped me cope with my own mom's passing three months ago, especially through the first Christmas season without her.
Regardless of whatever commercial success (or lack thereof) this sees, the video reinforces why I'm glad it was officially made a part of her singles discography.

This just may be the best music video I have ever seen. Maybe, it's the power of the song combined with the personal imagery of the video. I truly don't know. What I do know is that it is everything and more than what I had initially hoped for. When Reba said her Mom had to be in the video - she was right. It just makes it that much more powerful. I too, agree with Sean that this is Reba's best single since the mid-1990s.

Beautiful video. I am a total sucker for black-and-white video treatments so it already had that on me, but the scenery was beautiful and it was just very well-done. This is still not one of my favorite songs on the album, but I do appreciate it a lot knowing the significance behind it and the video definitely helps me like it quite a bit more, so for that I'm thankful it was a single. I do wonder when they're going to roll this one out to radio though as it seems like there's been no word on any of that yet, and I would like to see it at least do what "Until They Don't Love You" did and make a small dent in the charts.

Well that video absolutely killed me. Reba is my all time musical hero and there isn't a piece of music of hers I don't own. This video ranks among the top in her career. I know radio won't give it a chance but it deserves to be #1 more than any song out there right now. Wow!
