OK, so I didn't know that I had on my computer both the Dannii Minogue AND JCA versions of "I Begin To Wonder." What was the deal with this track? Who came out first?
I prefer the JCA version, but Dannii's "I Begin To Spin" mashup with Dead or Alive.

I prefer the JCA version, but Dannii's "I Begin To Spin" mashup with Dead or Alive. Jean Claude Ades (aka JCA) produced Dannii's version. JCA's own version came out first by a few months in Germany and a couple of other European countries. IMHO, Dannii's version is far superior. For one, she can sing, unlike the bird on JCA's version, she sounds like she's about to die (typical dance Euro trash). Dannii's version was a worldwide smash hit too. The DOA bootleg came out later, and it's the version that was released as a single in Germany. I think it's a dreadful mash up. Those two songs have nothing in common... the two together sound out of place.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. As far as preferences...meh, to each his own. Which is why I clearly said "IMHO". A lot of people seem easily offended when once doesn't agree with their opinion.

Oops, I forgot to say Dannii's not a cover per se, since she wrote additional verses for her version, and JCA changed some of the arrangements. Both versions are similar not identical. Of course JCA went on to produce another song for her, "Come And Get It", which appears on her album as a hidden track... the Sebastian Krieg Mix, that is. The withdrawn copies of the German single, if you can find it, goes usually for a lot of $$$$$.

It's not an instant hit, but it's a grower. It's a song meant to be heard from blasting speakers on the dancefloor... Once you experience it in such setting, you'd love it!

I have the CAGI CD single - the mixes are amazing! But unfortunately, the CD single dosen't include the original version of the song, which has different vocals by Dannii - although this did leak on the internet a while back! It's criminal that this single was never released, although I guess with no video it would've flopped!

I'm a massive Neon Nights era Dannii fan, but I must say, I prefer the original JCA-only version of the track. I had been loving it for months by the time Dannii came out with hers.
Given that, I almost never hear/play the original version of this song anymore! I always listen to the Dannii version because I listen to Dannii all the time because I love her. Gotta love those Minogues!
I have to add... "Come and Get It (Radio Version)" is probably my favorite Dannii track of all time! So, at the end of the day, I love Dannii and JCA together.

My favorite mix of this was and always will be the Almighty Hit Squad mix, which was rejected by her UK label, and (unsuccessfully) shopped around to Ultra here in the US for inclusion on the cd5. It's absolutely brilliant, and apparently being released (finally!) on an import compilation CD I'm told next week.

I'd be interested in purchasing that.

It's the typical Almighty cheesefest. Get it only if you're an Almighty fan. Disco Dude, it's released Down Under on Sept. 12. "Almighty Down Under Volume 3": Disk 1 1. Alcazar - This Is The World We Live In (Almighty Mix) 2. Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder (Hit Squad Mix) 3. Dina Carroll - Living For The Weekend (Almighty Mix) 4. Motiv8 Featuring Jocelyn Brown - Riding On The Wings (Almighty Mix) 5. Belle Lawrence - Baby Get Higher (Almighty Mix) 6. Louise - The Slightest Touch (Almighty Mix) 7. Ignition-X - There's Nothing I Won't Do (Almighty Anthem Mix) 8. 3Am Featuring Tracey Cole - Somebody Told Me (Almighty Anthem Mix) 9. Girls Allowed - Girls Aloud (Almighty Mix) 10. Sophie Ellis-bextor - Get Over You (Almighty Pop'd Up Mix) 11. Sugababes - Too Lost In You (Almighty Mix) 12. Samantha Mumba - Lately (Almighty Mix) Disk 2 1. Elton John - Your Song (Almighty Mix) 2. Abbacadabra - S.O.S. (Almighty Transensual Mix) 3. Diana Ross & The Supremes - You Keep Me Hanging On (Almighty Mix) 4. These record companies... they just know how to alienate their customers! All these years, and they have learned nothing.
The mixes are not even available on iTunes Germany. There's just no excuse for that. >:(

Originally, I preferred the JCA track.
But with the DOA mix, I have to give this one to Danni.

Here's the withdrawn German CD Maxi for your enjoyment. This is the single that was never released commercially. Its released was canceled at the last minute... just a few days prior to its releaase. The mixes were never released commercially on any physical format nor on any digital format. Here are the 6 mixes from the CD Maxi, plus 4 and 3 mixes (from the first and second promo vinyl maxis, respectively). J.C.A feat. Dannii Minogue "Come And Get It"

I do enjoy the Dannii version, but I'll always be partial to the first version I heard. I somehow got the Bini & Martini remix of the JCA original. AMAZING. If they would have thrown Dannii's vocals onto that remix, I would have loved it. What a great mix. I haven't listened to it in quite some time. I'm gonna have to track down that cd! Check it out. It's good stuff.
Peace, Ben
