A lot of "When We Were Young"'s potential will be eaten away by the fact that the song isn't available for streaming and 25 is selling so hugely so fast. I don't expect a big showing for the single itself, but I can see it keeping the album alive for months after the hype.
"In the Night" is a song I used to love, but it has a fast burnout rate, and well, Abel sounds pretty bad on it. He sounds like Michael Jackson getting strangled.

WWWY will be available for streaming, just watch. Her label is not stupid when it comes to getting hits.

WWWY will be available for streaming, just watch. Her label is not stupid when it comes to getting hits. Exactly, I really don't get the whole "it won't be a #1 hit without streaming" argument. Uh, since when has Adele's team gone full blown Taylor Swift on us? If that was the case, Hello would've never been released to streaming full stop. They'll release it on streaming when they officially release it as a single.

In reality: Adele holds at #1 for a few more weeks giving enough time for Rihanna to release a new smash which will open in the top 10 and eventually reach #1. We both know this ain't happening though. I think it's possible for Rihanna to get another #1 because she does well in streaming, all she needs is a pop/urban crossover hit so she can get 200 million AI and with that she should easily get #1, like how she did with Rude Boy without ever getting #1 on iTunes, and this time she'll have Youtube streaming to make it even easier for her. However, taking such a long break had really, really hurt her career. If she kept releasing albums every year she'd be much more successful right now. :( It's a shame really. Things were all set up for her to release her album this year, but sadly they killed it (unless they surprise us in the next 5 days). They even released 3 singles, 2 of which actually did fairly good. For someone who released a studio album every year except one from '05 until '12, I'd say she deserved and could afford to take a couple year break. Unfortunately, the public's interest in her has dwindled and she won't as easily be able to get a #1.

Unfortunately, the public's interest in her has dwindled and she won't as easily be able to get a #1. She was the highest streamed female artist in the world this past year, and the third biggest in the US. To say interest in her has "dwindled" and leave it just like that makes it seem like something far far worse and larger than it actually is. There is fine enough interest in her, they're just choosing to hit their heads against the wall on her end. That's not the same thing. If she was able to bounce back after a slower patch with Rude Boy when she was a smaller name, there's no reason she wouldn't be able to do the same in a few months, a few months ago, or even right now if they just delivered the correct track. Rihanna has gone up against I'd say literally every big name over the past decade you can think of. Adele, Taylor, Katy, Bruno, Gaga, Maroon 5, Nicki, Beyonce (kinda), Usher, Justin, LMFAO, Kesha you get the idea. None of them stopped her from continuing. In the slightest.

@ people counting LegendaRih out. The receipts are in the post above me. As a side note, I think chart peaks are almost irrelevant in this day and age when it comes to measuring a commercial artist's overall success. I think it's all about #impact now and Rih has definitely had her moments of impact this year (see BBHMM song + video, Grammy performance, the hysteria when it was announced she'd do Rock in Rio + the tour etc.) She couldn't be further from 'done'. ANTi will do well whenever it's released and y'all will deal.

The only thing holding Rihanna back is her desire to be seen as a serious artist. She keeps playing the Kanye games. They work for him. It's a bad look for her though.

Yes. Kane West enjoys much acclaim with his albums, so I'd agree that that works for him.
I'd also think that Adeles label will make WWWY available to stream, especially when the video hits.

I honestly don't think they need to release a proper video for WWWY because the live version on her Vevo channel already has over 50 million views.

Does that count toward the Hot 100 since it's a live version? Yes, as mentioned here: Is that an exception because it's an official video, or so all live performances of songs count toward streaming? Like, a VMA performance of a song counts, too? And the Fallon classroom instrument videos count for a song? I had no idea.

And the Fallon classroom instrument videos count for a song? I had no idea. I'm not really sure. But I remember the week Drunk In Love jumped to #2 the week after Beyonce performed it on TV, I reckon there must have been Youtube videos of the performance which counted because most of us were expecting it to get to around #6 iirc.

^We should see big hits from earlier in the year make gains for a little while (year-end countdowns), along with big AC hits (purging of Xmas music). Which means Hello could maybe reach a new audience peak as it could benefit from both aspects.

Probably because he's competing with himself with 3 other songs. CFMF seems to be the one pop stations are giving more year-end love to.

Is that an exception because it's an official video, or so all live performances of songs count toward streaming? Like, a VMA performance of a song counts, too? And the Fallon classroom instrument videos count for a song? I had no idea. Any version posted to her Official YouTube or VEVO page will be counted towards her streaming points on the Hot 100.

Why did almost every song lose audience impressions yesterday? Combination of Christmas songs (primarily on the adult formats) and year-end countdowns (many current songs don't appear on those, and if even they do, they're still only getting one spin/100 songs, whereas the big pop songs usually receive a play every 1-2 hours)

The Hills' digital sucks a big one.. I originally expected it to green back up to top 5, but now top 25 seems like a plan.. At this rate there's no way this song can rebound next week.. or even stay in top 10 for any longer.. Seriously people rather buy See You Again on Christmas? What's wrong with The Hills? It doesn't have any luck like most hit songs from months ago.. It's just so oddly wayward.. Put my bucks on its hard tumbling
