hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=299373Monday, January 25, 2016 NEW RELEASES: DYSTOPIAN EDITIONUMe's Megadeth leads the week's new releases with their cheerful new set, Dystopia. Bruce Resnikoff has cranked his Marshall stack to ear-splitting levels in celebration. Meanwhile, Republic's hit-studded Grammy noms comp (which gets no credit for track streams, for obvious reasons) rolls out, as does indie rapper Hoodie Allen. Megadeth (UMe) 43-48k albums, 44-49k SPS 2016 Grammy Nominees (Republic) 25-28k albums Hoodie Allen (Hoodie Allen) 14-17k, 16-19k

It looks bad for Hoodie Allen to be selling half what his album last year did, but they did realease it for free from his website, so that probably took a bunch of his potential sales away. Also only available digitally.

21 is mimicking 19 when the former was reigning the charts even though it has sold 10 times as much already. This woman is amazing.

85%+ drop for PATD. No matter how often I will probably see those kind of drops, it's always going to be yikes worthy.

Absolute bs that Tank cannot get respectable record sales. Not even mentioned. Hits probably didn't mention him because he's a Warner artist. He's going to sell the same amount that Hoodie Allen is.

Atlantic is under the WMG umbrella. I was just referring to HITS' ongoing one sided beef with WMG but now that I think about it, is their problem with Atlantic instead? Because they almost never list Atlantic acts as being under Atlantic. To this day I don't think anyone knows what the deal really is.

So is Rihanna eligible to chart this week? Her album is technically available since it's up for streaming on Tidal. If she can move 100k of her single with Drake, that would be 10k of TEA units, plus whatever streams she gets from Tidal, which would be more than enough to debut on the BB200. Or will she only be chart eligible when they release the album commercially for sale next week?

Hmmm... does an album have to be available for purchase for it to chart?

I don't know. It obviously couldn't chart on Current Albums, because it's not available as an album to buy as a unit, but the album is technically released, so why couldn't it chart on the BB200 with TEA/SEA? Guess we'll have to wait a few days and see.

As a limited free download exclusive and then a streaming-only exclusive for a week, I'm personally doubting it can chart on Billboard. They have a minimum price in effect since Born This Way's 99 cent situation. But more than that, I'm doubting the label will even WANT it to chart yet with such a potentially low number, even if it is somehow technically able to chart. I'm just thinking of Justin Bieber's 'Journals' project - and how the label didn't want it to and therefore it didn't.
I have a feeling it won't debut on the Billboard 200 until it has a full week of retail availability. This way Tidal got their exclusive and a few more memberships without it impacting much of anything sales or chart-wise for ANTI. This is a win/win for everybody, especially Tidal members who are Rihanna fans.
EDIT: Sources say it has a Feb 5 release date. A week is a long time to wait now that pirated copies from Tidal are everywhere online.... am I crazy to think it'll get rush released tomorrow - or will they stick to their 2/5 plan? or is this 2/5 plan just as much of a ploy as the "accidental" Tidal leak? haha. Oh Rihanna.

From what I've read, the week long Tidal exclusive is based on the Samsung tie-in. They obviously aren't concerned about how many copies the album actually sells, they've gotten their money from Samsung, and tbh I'm expecting her to release another album either at the end of this year or early next, and they'll just retcon ANTI and pretend it never happened. There obviously are no viable singles from it after the novelty of Work wears off.

Yes, although HITS had the word "physical" in there, as well- though the latest article says the physical deluxe release date is pending.

Next week's chart: hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=299474And unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that, to her fans’ surprise, Rihanna has dropped ANTI (Westbury Road/Roc Nation) digitally. Also streeting this week are albums from Monkey Puzzle/RCA’s Sia, RCA’s Tinashe, Columbia’s St. Lucia and labelmate Wet.
