The 15th sounds competitive but there really isn't a threat for her since her fanbase is almost completely different than a Childish Gambino/Nas (who actually may be taking from each other). She should be able to get the #1 easily I think. I honestly think her fanbase has some overlap with Gambino, though not so much with Nas.. i don't have data to back that up, though I mean they're technically both hip-hop artists but I've always felt Nicki's base is a lot more pop-focused than other urban acts/rappers, and more female-driven so that might boost her. Gambino is a beast with streaming rn while Nicki seems to be (oddly) struggling on that front so she's going to need the pure sales to come all the way through. A tour bundle would be extremely smart. |

Gambino is definitely a threat. He has so much heat right now, if he can carry that through June, he's a contender.
Their biggest challenge is going to be Drake's second week though (if the June 8th rumors are true).

The fact that Drake's second week SPS could legit be around 200-250k is just....
Because he's definitely topping a million+ first week. I thought he was releasing the following week after Nicki though.

There's been no confirmation on Drake at all. If it's the 8th though, I can see him keeping it. Since they're both through Republic though, there may be people that'd prefer Nicki to get released first. It's the same reason I didn't buy the rumor that he was releasing his album at the same time as Post, because for Republic that'd be the #1 streaming act blocking the #2 streaming act when both are under your umbrella.

I don´t think Drake and Nicki would drop around the same time as to block Nicki from getting a #1 debut.
The more I think about Gambino, I don´t think he would be a threat to Nicki debuting at #1, unless he has a big second single. I think he will still do big numbers but I think there is way too much hype around Nicki´s album. We´ll see what happens closer to when she drops the first ¨official¨ single from the album (as I don´t think Chun Li is the first official single?) and see how it does.

His last opened up with 101k SPS off of an Indie label(and it was before "Redbone" really took off). I'm not sure what RCA is going to do, but he is off to a good start, and so is Nicki.

I'm pretty disappointed with the collab. Nicki is too legendary to just jump on anyone's track or any song. She needs to be more selective about her collaborations sometimes...less is more.

The bulk of Nicki’s fans likely have been following her since her debut 9-10 years ago and like her pop counterparts, a lot of those fans are now full fledged adults who may or may not have outgrown her so appealing to the younger generation now is a good move. I actually think that kinda explains why her streaming is how it is (a new generation thing). All that aside....“Poke It Out” has now grown on me. 🤷🏽♂️ |

It definitely justifies the streaming numbers because the streaming community reflects a younger generation that is interested more in that style of music, as shown by the Top 50 US Songs chart on Spotfiy...LOTS of rap songs (many of which are mumble) and very few pop songs. But Jesus, it really is terrible, terrible music. Expecting a new song announcement tonight or tomorrow. She has to be dropping something...the first single? She's been super secretive about what she's going to perform alongside Chun-Li on Saturday and they wouldn't waste a promo spot like this for a throwaway-track. |
