This girl is so naturally talented, I don't get why no one on her team or management is suggesting some more control. When she hit the big notes in that Ellen performance, her voice sounded very good, but it was all so loud that it mostly came off as shouting. Rein it in, girl. Control can go a long way and will make the bigger notes seem bigger than they already are.
Also, this song is too plodding for her to be doing stripped down versions of it. There should be a radio edit that picks up the pace a bit.

She's had better performances of this song. I'm not going to call it atrocious, especially when you consider other pop stars at the moment. When you have a voice as capable as Demi's, I have no problem calling her bad performances atrocious. No need to bring other starlets into this, as Demi isn't relatively good, she'a good on her own merits - no unnecessary comparisons needed.

Mr. Hughes being a bonus track was such a mistake. I think it would smash.
I don't think she was too great with her vocals on that Ellen - she cracked a few times and it looked like she gave up a bit on the performance.

I have to agree with a few other poster's, she thinks this song is WAY better than it is. Like she's having her Adele or "Stay" moment. It's just not that powerful. I wish she would release something else.
And she sounded a mess on Ellen.

Her last two singles were great and compared to her last eras, performed very well. I think she deserves to get to release her favourite now, even if it won't do well on the charts. #31 on iTunes

I thought her Ellen performance was great. She sounded fine to me and the moments where her voice cracked didn't bother me at all since it actually kind of fit with the song and emotion she was putting into it. She did a great job, imo. <3

This girl has a big powerful voice. She can hit some high notes too!! Her tone of voice tho, eww so annoying and sounds not mature enough for my taste. Not her fault tho since she was born with it. The song itself is very blah for a radio single. Isn't there a better ballad on the album?

Ehh... Don't get me wrong, it's a decent song and Demi is a decent singer. She's a super powerful singer, but lacks melodiousness big time. Too much shouting and screeching, definitely lacking control. Is she really a singer who can make a song like this a hit?

Definitely agree with someone who say that Demi thinks too highly of this song. I think this is decent, but nowhere near Adele brilliance or the perfection of Stay.

Well on a positive note, the GP seems to react very well to the song. :) I say it's about time for a risky single choice. She always plays it safe since DEMI.

Her ballads are usually awful imo but I actually like this. It's probably my second favorite ballad from her to date behind Don't Forget.

Sounds like a Jessie J reject - rather limp and she needs to learn how to restrain herself. She has a good voice, but needs to learn how to use it in more creative ways and to show restraint, showing off her mid-register more. A long sustained lower belt usually has a much bigger impact/effect than hitting higher notes briefly.

This song blows, like mostly everything she's done. Hate how she keeps getting shoved down our throats when the gp clearly does not care about her, based on her middling reviews and sales.

^About the middling reviews and sales, this album is clearly not that great, but Unbroken and Demi were pretty good and sold well.
Demi Lovato has a lot of potential, but she needs to pick better material. She did a good job last night on the Lionel Richie tribute.

Interesting that you think she's now being shoved down our throats, because before GYHAB, her music sold exceptionally well while radio paid her dust. Also, literally the only place you can find her is on pop radio. She's not all over the place like Adele or Taylor Swift. Even then, her music is not reaching the top areas of the pop chart that often. Most of the time it's barely scraping the top ten. It's fine that you don't like her, but if she really is too "in your face" for you, the best way to avoid her is to just change the station.

No problems with Stone Cold, safest choice with Kingdom Come as well But, Yes has big potential. But I don't think this era will spawn over 4 singles from the album, she had a lot of great material that Here We Go Again but that era performed the worst for her with its singles, Catch Me & Everything You're Not never got justice. And Unbroken's All Night Long should have been a single, faved non-single from her IMO.

I would've recommended "For You" instead of this. But it seems for me, everything I touch turns into crap.

I like this song, although I think it would be a lot more powerful if she saved the the belting for the last portion of the song. It comes across theatrical.

Teaser #2: Impacts on April 5 according to Republic Playbook. That seems like a long time to wait for a song that is dropping its video tomorrow and has already had high-profile TV promo. I get that they have to build momentum (it doesn't have it), but still...

I've said in other threads that they needed to release this. No, it isn't nearly as good as she thinks it is and yes, it is a risk, but getting another safe generic hit is not going to help her in the long run. I'd rather her take a risk because it has more long term benefits, and I doubt a flop would hurt her too much. The song seems to respond well to exposure so fingers crossed.
That said, that is a horrible adds date. "Confident" will have peaked over three months before it, it's video will have been out for over a month, and it will have already been performed numerous times. We've seen time and time again that waiting doesn't help. It's not looking good.
I do like the song though. Definitely not my favorite on the album ("Wildfire"), but it's a good vocal performance and is a decent song.

Video is out:
I like the scenes in the snow (imagery is beautiful), but the bathtub scenes seem way too forced. Pretty basic though.

The video is okay. My favorite visuals were the snow and the mountains in the background. Not much replay value, which is a shame, because I love Demi and most of her music videos.

She looks beautiful in the mountain scenes but it is cristal clear that the label didn't want to release this as a single. Very low budget.

I liked the video, the imagery was beautiful, but overall don't feel much replay value. Still though! She looks stunning! #werk
I do, however, think the video made me like the song more, and it more than makes up for that Ellen performance!
