The good news: The best dance band around has returned with their first single in 8 years.
The bad news: It's a cover of an overused song, and the vocals are terrible.
"Dreamland" is, in my humple opinion, the best dance album ever recorded. "Positive Vibration" just wasn't as good. They need to make up with Martha Wash and/or recruit Charvoni again.
The Source feat. Candi Staton's "You Got The Love" is a classic dance song, and it doesn't need more covers. Especially when Solitaire released theirs very recently, and even more so, when the vocalist behind Black Box's version can't match Candi. In addition to all this, Shapeshifters will release their remix of The Sourse/Candi's version on October 4, 2005.
Anyway, sadly there's not much information about Black Box's comeback or who the vocalist is. The only info I was able to find was on a French site. I have translated the French page below:
Black Box, mythical group from the late 80’s and early 90’s, returns to the scene with a brand new single, called “You Got The Love”. Released through Media Records on September 5th, the new Black Box single is inspired by a song by The Source, released in the mid 90’s and performed by Candi Staton. “You Got The Love” will be available in 4 different version, including an acappella.
The story of Black Box, which consists of DJ Daniele Davoli, better known as DJ Lelewel, songwriter Mirko Limoni and classical clarinetist Valerio Semplici, began in 1988. Since then, Black Box teamed up with french singer and model Katrin, born Catherine Quinol to produce the first single “Ride On Time” – the first worldwide success for the group. Followed were other sensational hits such as “I Don’t Know Anybody Else” and “Everybody Everybody”. The latter features vocals by Martha Wash.
In 1990, Black Box released their debut album titled “Dreamland”, which brought upon a success just as resounding as the previous projects by the trio. The hit “Strike It Up” was released a few months later, followed by a remake of the legendary “Fantasy” by Earth Wind And Fire. After the release of a megamix, “The Total Mix”, at the end of 1991, Black Box followed up with “Hold On” in the summer of 1992. After a few years of absence, the trio returned with a new effort in 1995 called “Positive Vibration”, which was a modest success.

Black Box "You Got The Love" : retour très attendu depuis 1995 !

There are a couple of errors on that article. Katrin Quinol never sang a note on "Ride On Time", since that song sampled Loleatta Holloway's "Love Sensation". Of course she never sang a note on the whole album... at the time she didn't even speak a lick of English. "Fantasy" was the fourth single, followed by "Strike It Up".
