Still upset about Uptown Funk got screwed by the new recurrent rule. It would be still on the chart for sure and continue to slay with Super Bowl and Grammy's boost.

Curious to see what happens with When We Were Young and Out of the Woods this week. WWWY's airplay is holding OK but seems like it won't go much further, and OOTW seems dead on Pop radio.

I think WWWY will probably go up next week considering it got a minor sales boost from the Grammys. Not huge, but probably enough for a couple spots. It's also climbing up streaming slowly.

What's WWWY? Whole wheat with yogurt? Just in case you are being serious and not joking around, WWWY is the acronym for the song "When We Were Young" by Adele.

Highly doubt they'll push a 7th to radio after this (which kinda sucks IMO because I like almost all of the singles on the album a lot, especially Wonderland which was obviously never released to radio)

^you can't judge all 6th singles based off this . The one that got away by Katy was quite successful . I think success past the 3rd single has a lot to do with how good the artists' music videos are. And during the Teenage Dream era, Katy Perry was the master of viral music videos. Granted, The One That Got Away was probably coasting on the momentum that the last 3 singles had. Just in time to get bailed out by the re-release. Taylor Swift isn't quite as good at keeping the buzz going. It was starting to fade by Style, but she did manage to bring it back a bit with Bad Blood's summer blockbuster video, which probably helped Wildest Dreams along. Hell, look at how many singles per album Michael Jackson made huge with his legendary videos.

Nope, it was the seventh and eighth singles that were off the Teenage Dream: Complete Confection (Part Of Me and Wide Awake). The One That Got Away was from the original album.

If streaming was a part of the Hot 100 in 2011/2012, she most likely would've broken the record for most #1's from an album. (TOTGA peaked at #3 with just sales and radio) Her music videos during that era were all perfect and definitely kept her momentum going.

Nah, there was no passing We Found Love and Sexy And I Know It. Both of which had pretty strong YouTube views as well.

For what it's worth, there's also something to be said about albums that sell 5 million copies vs. albums that don't. Especially when it comes down to any singles after, say, #4. Taylor manages to have hit singles and sell between 4 and 7 million copies of an album... whereas Katy has had more singles success while selling fewer albums (in general). Teenage Dream sold well in the US with 3m - but its an interesting specimen when we look at other A-list albums with similar singles success. There's this mysterious phenomenon that makes some acts singles artists, some album artists, and some both.
What makes Taylor sell 1m+ albums in week one, and Katy far less? It's weird to me given how hugely popular and successful they both are. I'm sure we all have our theories when it comes to this, not necessarily specific to Taylor and Katy, but in general.

look at how many singles per album Michael Jackson made huge with his legendary videos. Ironically, that's not really true of Thriller...of that album's 7 top ten singles, only 3 had music videos (second single "Billie Jean", third single "Beat It", and seventh single "Thriller"). But this was still early into the MTV era and radio was much more important.

What # single was Sweet Dreams by Beyoncé? 6 or 7? I think she had IIWAB, SL, Halo, Ego, Diva, and maybe even one other before it.
It is different for pop/r&b artists tho who may have more singles simultaneously that are chatting on diff formats.

Janet Jackson managed to get a 6th (and 7th) single to #1. There's no beating that.

And streaming wasn't even counted back then. If streaming was a part of the Hot 100 in 2011/2012, she most likely would've broken the record for most #1's from an album. (TOTGA peaked at #3 with just sales and radio) Her music videos during that era were all perfect and definitely kept her momentum going. She wouldn't have broken the record. If streaming was included back then her #1s would most likely have been *only* California Gurls, Firework and E.T. (which were such strong hits I think they would've gone #1 no matter the formula). Teenage Dream would definitely not have gone #1 (unless streaming was really small, like 10% of the formula or less). Love The Way You Lie was a streaming monster. Part Of Me almost certainly would've missed out on #1 too (like Justin Bieber - Boyfriend, except with lower sales and weaker competition). Not really sure about Last Friday Night, but that could've missed out too with streaming.

Rihanna also had 7 top 20 hits from Good Girl Gone Bad, but two were from a re-release, and Shut Up And Drive and Rehab weren't exactly monster hits. Still, much better consistency than any album she's released after that.

Once the video drops, "Work" shouldn't have any trouble becoming Rihanna's 14th #1. Should overtake Mariah in the near-future. Rihanna's only 27 and still extremely relevant.

I'm all for her doing her thing these days and not to say it's a bad song, but if Work can go to #1, imagine if she integrated more of the pop edge to some singles again. The H100 #1s record would/will likely be broken. Based on Work's success, she's fully capable of achieving #1 without the pop-leaning songs, I'm just saying... it could be a blowout if she recorded some more pop/dance bangers. I'm not sure about #1 potential for the other tracks on this album... but I'd never say never. I love seeing records broken. She's coming for you John, Paul, George and Ringo. 20+ #1s by 2020. GO!
