What # single was Sweet Dreams by Beyoncé? 6 or 7? I think she had IIWAB, SL, Halo, Ego, Diva, and maybe even one other before it. It is different for pop/r&b artists tho who may have more singles simultaneously that are chatting on diff formats. Sweet dreams was the 4th single sent to pop stations . When looking at nicki I used the same criteria since technically fly was the 8th single from the project but 6 of the singles weren't pop ones . I think it's best to stick with pop singles since the discussions about Taylor and her country/pop CDs has a lot of singles when you count both radio formats

^That's why I said that second sentence.
But, we're getting at splitting hairs. Sweet Dreams was the 6th single from the album, and 4th pop single.
Looking at "Fly," it appears to be the 6th US single ("Check It Out" was not considered a single from the album and "Girls Fall Like Dominoes" was not promoted in the US as far as I can tell). But, I don't know which of the prior singles were considered pop vs hip-hop, so Fly may have been the 4th "pop" single as well.

And things have only gotten messier and harder to compare eras as the years tick by. Every artist requires their own approach and marketing agenda these days - very little in the way of "standard" single-album-single-single-single anymore. It's single-single-single-maybe an album-single-maybe another album delay-another exclusive single-then an exclusive or shelved album. and lots of format- and region- specific promotion of different singles, simultaneously or at different times.... plus album tracks charting... etc etc. There's always been some of this kind of thing, but not the degree that is basically standard today.

Pop / chr :
Your love 21 Check it out - 20 Right thru me - 32 Moment 4 life - 19 Superbass - 3
I don't see why check it out wouldn't count when it's on the album and Reached top 20 on pop .

^yet another tricky thing for Check It Out, as per wikipedia:
"It appears on Minaj's debut album, Pink Friday,[2] though it was not released in promotion of the album."
And this brings up other issues regardless of the 6th single discussion -- for example, when a song is previously released but included on a later album, do you count it? One notable example I always think of: On Madonna's "American Life" album, do you count "Die Another Day" as a single from it? It came off the Bond soundtrack but was included on the album, and it was deliberately included as part of the flow of tracks rather than as a "bonus cut." I bring that one up because if you DO count it, that means every studio Madonna album from 1983-2012 had at least one top ten single. If you don't count it, you chop a decade off that streak.

^ Good example. Had Check It Out not been a hit already, I doubt it would have been included on Pink Friday. But that's my opinion.

I find it funny that people say Work isn't pop. It's very much pop of these days, look at Hotline Bling and other monster hits of recent times (Pillowtalk, Same Old Love, Me Myself and I).

^ In regard to my post, I should have included the word "dance" along with pop in the first sentence, as I was referring to a genre, not pop music as determined by what is popular.
And just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that I think she should be making dance pop songs, either. I was just theorizing based on her track record with dance pop.

br- Madge always intended for "Die Another Day" to be on American Life- Rick Dees asked her about it in a radio interview when it was out- and it was included on all editions of the album (unlike "American Pie" and its tack-on on Music in some territories). So, while I wouldn't label it as the "lead single," I'd say it counts for the discussion at hand.

Nah, there was no passing We Found Love and Sexy And I Know It. Both of which had pretty strong YouTube views as well. I completely forgot that WFL and SAIKI were ahead of her at the same time. Both had huge videos that went viral, so you're probably right. She was destined for a #3 peak with TOTGA.

Once the video drops, "Work" shouldn't have any trouble becoming Rihanna's 14th #1. Should overtake Mariah in the near-future. Rihanna's only 27 and still extremely relevant. I'm all for her doing her thing these days and not to say it's a bad song, but if Work can go to #1, imagine if she integrated more of the pop edge to some singles again. The H100 #1s record would/will likely be broken. Based on Work's success, she's fully capable of achieving #1 without the pop-leaning songs, I'm just saying... it could be a blowout if she recorded some more pop/dance bangers. I'm not sure about #1 potential for the other tracks on this album... but I'd never say never. I love seeing records broken. She's coming for you John, Paul, George and Ringo. 20+ #1s by 2020. GO! I'd rather her make music that she will actually enjoy performing in the future. It's clear from last year's interviews that there are lots of her biggest hits that she doesn't enjoy performing anymore because they're not her. I think she'll have no issue reaching Mariah within the next five years, regardless.

At this point I don't think My House will go higher than #4. It's not getting past Love Yourself, Stressed Out or Work anytime soon.

If they both stay up there for weeks and weeks, My House won't make it. However, they already are kind of peaking, so it's gonna depend on how long the descent takes.

I was listening to White Iverson (Post Malone) and My Beyoncé (Lil Durk), and just don't understand why the first one was a big hit and the second one didn't even enter the Hot 100. I don't think any of those rappers are relevants, so is there one reason for this?

White Iverson is really catchy. I was singing along to it in the supermarket the other day. It has more of a catchy appeal than My Beyonce.

Do you think Hands To Myself could reach a new peak for a Selena song if sales improve and the music video streams go up and it reaches a higher media base than SOL? Or are songs like LY, SO, Work, MH, etc. going to block its chances for a Top 3? I don't see it reaching Top 3 at all. The competition is too strong. It's doing decently well on radio. If sales and streaming pick up, it could possibly reach #5 but that might even be a stretch.

Does All I Ask have enough sales to enter the chart? At least at the bottom? It doesn't have streaming or radio, so I'm not really sure.

Her label is aware of the new tracking week, right? Lmfao On that note Twenty One Pilots' label is aware that there's something called billboard hot 100 and they're gonna miss their perhaps the only chance to hit no.1 by not putting it on 0.69 and no remix / viral video, right? Lmao

Lmao Stressed Out will not make it to #1. I predict that when SO passes LY, Work or WWWY will take #1 on that same week (unless Work or WWWY manages to gain faster than I thought, which would result in Work or WWWY being #1 a week or two earlier).
