Artist: Chuck Wicks Album: Turning Point Release Date: February 26, 2016 Label: Blaster Records Stream Here | Download Here
Track Listing:1. She’s Gone 2. Fix Me 3. Us Again 4. Whole Damn Thing 5. Tell Me 6. Saturday Afternoon 7. I Don’t Do Lonely Well 8. Salt Life 9. Always 10. Whatcha Got Girl 11. Over You Gettin’ Over Me Chuck Wicks' sophomore album Turning Point is officially out. Eight years in the making, the album was just released - and at a time when his label is basically shuttered. Nevertheless, I am a HUGE Chuck fan, and am very pleased with the entire effort. Five of the 11 songs are off of the 2013 limited release Rough EP - but a few of the songs seem to be a bit better in terms of quality. Chuck cowrote and coproduced each of the 11 songs. It is primarily a digital-only release. Physical copies are available, signed...from his website. Physical Album Spoiler: There is no booklet, it is merely a fold with a CD insert, cover and back cover. For the fans who helped participate in the imaging and voting process for the booklet, it looks like they axed the idea (most likely due to expected sales and the label's future). I am biased and can't seem to pick a favorite, but "Tell Me" and "She's Gone" are standouts, IMO.

Wow, "Fix Me" and "Salt Life" are on this? Those were played on The Highway in early to mid 2013... Yeah, I was kind of surprised to see the entire Rough EP on here. It was released on April 9, 2013, and both "Fix Me" and "Salt Life" were sent to The Highway in support of the EP. I think I remember Chuck saying somewhere that the label really bought into "Fix Me" so they must've really thought the EP would fit amongst the new stuff. For selfish reasons of already having the EP, I wish there were one or two more songs on the Turning Point album. With Blaster in their current situation and Chuck's Cumulus affiliation (which you mentioned awhile back), I can't see "She's Gone" (current single) doing anything for the album.

"Fix Me" is alright -- I think it's different enough for Chuck's voice and not so over the top to be irritating. I think if Chuck wasn't affiliated with Cumulus, "Us Again" could have gotten a little higher but again, an affiliation with a radio conglomerate can also help with airplay, on that companies owned stations, so perhaps a top 40 peak was all that was getting anyway, especially on Blaster (now defunct radio promotion staff). I still think "Us Again" was the most radio-ready hit on this album but "She's Gone" isn't too far behind.
