First time hearing about this album. Love the lineup. Definitely going to pre-order this.

I'm surprised that not more of you guys on Pulse are talking about this. This album is phenomenal and this album proves to me that Miranda Lambert should ditch her current producer and team up with David Cobb. "Sweet By and By" might go down as my favorite Miranda Lambert song ever. But then again there isn't a weak track on this album, definitely a front runner for my favorite album of the year and it's only March.

I'm highly interested in it but am notoriously slow in listening to new releases. This weekend I'm just getting to a bunch of stuff from late last year and earlier this year, lol.

Fair enough, but this album in my opinion will definitely be worth it. Some of my favorites are Miranda Lambert's Jason Isbell (people should really check his music out) Brandy Clark and Chris Stapleton song. This will definitely be an album appearing on many Year-End lists.

I replaced the NPR link with the Spotify link in the first post.
After two listens, this is my favorite album of the year so far. I'll post a full review sometime soon. I'm also pretty happy with how it's selling: #4 all-genre iTunes.

Really tough ranking:
01 "God Is A Working Man" 02 "Mama's Table" 03 "I Cried" 04 "Grandma's Garden" 05 "Simple Song" 06 "You Are My Sunshine" 07 "Learning" 08 "Settle Down" 09 "Down Home" 10 "Sweet By And By" 11 "Can You Come Over?" 12 "The Way Home"
But I love every song. This album really is a masterpiece. Dave Cobb really brings out the best in every artist he works with. While there isn't a narrative on the album, each song does contribute to the idea of family and Southern values, although the songs do apply to people everywhere. We definitely need more concept albums and people willing to take chances on interesting ideas.

Spectrum Pulse gave his first 10/10 rating with this album. I follow that website constantly and when he gives a 10/10 you know it's the real deal. Please to every country music poster here, do yourself a service and listen to this album, even if it's not exactly mainstream, it's still well worth any of your guys time.

This is a great album! I enjoyed every track. "Grandma's Garden," "Mama's Table", and "I Cried" are all stunners. And I was surprised by how much I loved Anderson East's voice (first time hearing him for me).

This album is coming up on a lot of year end lists & I was curious so I looked up the album for a reply in another blog, but it's an important point that I think bears repeating.
On an album that purports to be about southern culture, and the southern experience, ZERO of the listed track artists are African-American. Even worse, despite the fact that they are the sole vocalists on "The Way Home" The Settles Choir, an African-American gospel choir from Nashville, is not credited at ALL on the track listings. Instead the credited artist is the guitarist Rich Robinson (who is also credited as the composer).
I'm sorry, but this is complete an utter BS, and frankly should disqualify Cobb from awards for this album (I know it won't, but people should at least be aware).
