That might just be a block of specialty program they have.
Wild 94.9 in SF used to play dance music really often, than they decreased that. It goes up and down from time to time. But they have kept one long-running dance music program called House Nation. It's 5 hours of house, trance, techno and more. Despite all the other changes, this one has still stuck around. I hope I didn't just jinx it. ;)
They have recently trimmed their 12pm mix to 30 minutes from the previous 60 minutes. It started to sound stale because they played the same few records everyday.
Back to the topic...KIIS might not be flipping to dance format, but that could be a possibility. From what I have heard and read that KIIS is fairly popular and the numbers are good. But I could be wrong.

KYLD 94.9 used to be the same way, except it all happened in reverse. They used to play dance music during their Saturday night mix called the "Saturday Night Street Party." It's totally hip hop now. And the live mix from the club afterwards was like that too. Not that has become hip hop only too.
