I was just curious to know what a "TV Track" version of a songs is.
They are sometimes on cd singles and from what I've encountered it seems like they take out everything but the hook of the song, but I could be wrong.
I was just wondering what they were used for (if they even have a specific purpose).

I've always wondered myself!!! On the Shakira single of "Whenever, Wherever"...it was a performance of the song without the audience yells...kinda like a "studio" version of the song. But I downloaded the "TV Track" of the Blaque single "I'm Good" and it was an instrumental of the song with all the back-up vocals...not too bad for karaoke!

Well in the hip hop world the TV Track usually is similar to the Blaque version. It usually has some of the backing vocals and that's about it. I have heard of two reasons why there is a tv track. One is for the entertainer to perform live without a backing band. They usually only need background vocals or something to that effect. The other reason is for radio and tv promos. They'll have it playing in the background of a commercial or some spot for the group.
