Artist: Hillary Scott & The Scott Family Single: "Thy Will" Writers: Hillary Scott, Bernie Herms, Emily Weisband Label: EMI Nashville Source: Country Aircheck Add Date: May 9th, 2016 This will be off a Gospel influenced album by Hillary with help from her family. The song according to the ad in Aircheck that UMG was running the past two weeks, will be promoted to radio through EMI's staff. It hit iTunes tonight. I'm assuming radio gets this later this morning.

Nice song!
Will radio go anywhere near this? I'm surprised they aren't releasing it to Christian like Blake's song.
You know, I must admit there have been some real high-quality releases lately. I wonder if radio is getting nervous they are running out of generic dreck to play. That's probably why I'm still hearing "Little Bit of You", "Beautiful Drug", and "I Love This Life" 500 times a day.

From Music Row: So this will be going to both Country and Christian radio. I'm assuming that this song got spun on iHeartMedia stations today if Hillary dropped by Bobby's show this morning. Also this from Hillary:

Nice song! Will radio go anywhere near this? I'm surprised they aren't releasing it to Christian like Blake's song. Like I said in the thread on the Christian forum, I don't think this stands a chance at country radio. As sabre mentioned, it's being released to Christian radio too and I do think there's potential for it at that format. It's a beautiful song.

This is a fairly pretty song but I don't like it nearly as much as I wish I did. One thing working against it for me is that Hillary Scott has one of the most pedestrian female voices in country music. She's turned in some good vocal performances, like on "Downtown" and "Need You Now," for instance, but this one isn't among the better ones. It's really sleepy feeling, and I don't like the odd melody/flow of the verses. I also imagine that this will do much better at Christian radio than here, as it should.

Crikey, this song is unbelievably good! I am in the camp who finds Hillary's voice to be one of the best in the genre. Her biggest problem in my opinion has been finding the right material to pair it with. But this song is absolutely beautiful, and perfect for her voice! I agree that it stands basically no chance on country radio, but it is still flippin' amazing. Consider me a fan!

I heard this for the first time driving home last night and I had no idea it was Hillary Scott at the time. I'm not a religious person (spiritual yes), but this song is amazing. I've always found Lady A's music to be somewhat cheesy, but so far the solo efforts of her and Charles Kelley are just fantastic.

I know this didn't chart on the country charts, but it sure has been a big hit elsewhere. It's top 10 and climbing on Billboard's Christian Airplay chart, and it's #1 for a 3rd week on Hot Christian Songs ("Hot Christian"...lol). It's Christian radio airplay has propelled it to #28 on Hot Country Songs as well.
Obviously the audience numbers for the Christian radio format are much less than the country radio audience, but still...this one has been a big hit for Hillary. I work two nights a week at a restaurant in my hometown (in addition to the 40 hours I work at my 9-5 job...yay student loan debt), and I hear "Thy Will" on the radio all the time (the restaurant is always playing SiriusXM's "The Message" channel). Hillary's album also just debuted at #2 on Top Country Albums with 28,000 sold, just barely behind Jake Owen's American Love. And Love Remains debuted at #1 on Top Christian Albums.

My dad listens to Christian radio sometimes and he says he hears this one quite often.

I follow Christian charts a bit and I liked to see "Thy Will" doing fine on it.I liked"Love Remains" album a lot and I think Hillary and her family knew how to deliver their message very well and it is good to see it well accepted on Christian and Country formats.

I'm glad to hear this has been doing well on the Christian format! Since I only know the country charts, I just assumed this song was a total nonevent that nobody even remembered but me.

I'm obsessed with this so I'm so glad to see it doing well on Christian radio. I follow that genre almost as much as Country, and at first I was surprised to see it doing so well, but the song really does fit the type of song Christian radio loves ("Something In The Water" wasn't written in this style, which is why it didn't do well with airplay on the Christian charts). I hope this can continue to grow on Christian radio for Hillary and that some other singles are worked to Christian radio for her from this album!

Not a fan of the bombastic stringy production. Why is all Christian music lately so freaking loud?

I find it kind of amusing how Hillary's solo project played out better than Charles's did. It has definitely been a good move her. If/when Lady Antebellum ever fully runs its course and they go their separate ways, it seems like she has found somewhere to go (because I can't imagine her making it far as a solo country artist if she ever tried that).

I find it kind of amusing how Hillary's solo project played out better than Charles's did. Which sucks because I thought Charles' album was miles better than her's. I had a bit of trouble sitting through the album. There were a lot of worship songs that went way over the top in the Jesus message. I have a song called "Christ In Me" charting on my personal chart, so that normally isn't a problem for me, but with this it was. It was like they were trying way too hard. The album also made me realize how weak her vocals actually are. I feel like they didn't really do much in any of the songs. Of what I did like, this, "The River", and "Ain't No Grave" were standouts.

Plus Charles has "Dancing Around It" which is one of the best country songs of the year.

Although Charles has many different songs that reflect other genres, I think "Love Remains" has a lot of that stuff too. There's Country, Bluegrass, a little Rock, and Gospel. I think Charles only has songs that represent Country and R&B. With "Thy Will", I'm glad to see all the success that has come out of it. Still kind of disappointed for Charles that "The Driver" was not a hit. I guess radio had a not so great callout score for that song. Also I'm really not a fan of "Lonely Girl". I think it's kind of sad that Charles wanted to cater to the current sound with that song. I mean yeah he should explore different sounds, but I still think it could've sounded a little more country. I guess that's what his album was about though, exploring different sounds that Lady A would not normally explore. I hope Hilary's album rubs off on Lady A and maybe that will influence the next Lady A album's sound.

Not a fan of the bombastic stringy production. Why is all Christian music lately so freaking loud? Ricky Skaggs actually produced this one (along with the rest of her album). "Thy Will" climbed up to #2 this week on Billboard Christian Airplay, so it continues to be a huge hit on Christian radio.

I'm actually glad that it's doing so well. "Thy Will" is one of my favorite Christian songs of all time now.
